So… I read I was born for this. At first I identified with Angel a lot because she’s an aroace fan girl like me and that’s not a kind of representation I have seen before but the more I read I was glad I was never quite as deep into a fandom as her. I was not quite prepared for how dark the story got in the middle.

I’m still processing a lot because I read it all in one evening.

Alice Oseman just manages to get you into the head of the characters. I noticed this with Solitaire and Radio Silence as well.

At the start you’re a bystander with your own thoughts and opinions but the further into the story you get and the more you get to know the characters you take on the thought patterns and decision making processes of the characters. Decisions that seem weird and immature from an outside perspective just make so much sense in the moment. You’re there with the characters living the story with them/through them and take on their emotions and mental state, especially when written from the perspective of characters with mental illnesses like Jimmy. After reading I can see how distorted his perception of everything happening was at times but in the moment it felt so real. Or how you only notice how distorted Angels perception of herself is when Piero points it out to her and tells her she needs to care for and live for herself and when she notices or is told bit by bit how she was a bad friend to Juliet.

I went to my local pride today.

I live I a rather small conservative town so I was positively surprised how many people came.

I met 4 ace people and another aroace person. It felt good to meet some people from my community in real life :)

I scream, I love, I read fanfics, I make playlists and I cry with fictional couples and romances but with real life romance I'm like, do people really do that???

A witch puts a spell on a girl, a sleeping spell that promises the girl shall wake through true love’s kiss. Men come and kiss her. She slumbers. Women come and press their lips to hers, but still she sleeps. Many years past, and the girl remains still. One bright morning,  a lost little boy finds her resting spot and clears the dust and grime from her face. He offers her a kiss on her forehead, and her eyes flutter open. A young woman is imprisoned in a castle by a monstrously formed prince. The servants of the castle hope for them to fall in love, and when the spell is broken they assume their prayers have been answered. They are all surprised, but nonetheless pleased, when it is revealed to them that the young woman and prince are the truest of friends, and nothing more.

They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen, a woman who is incapable of loving. She is unmarried, she has no consorts, and she wishes for no partner. She is the wretched queen, the heartless queen. She must hate her daughter, for her daughter is beautiful, and women are incapable of liking another woman who’s prettier than themselves. It must be for this reason that the princess was sent away, not for how she was attacked by a man in the woods. They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen because she cannot love. The queen loves her daughter, and that is enough for them both.

There lives a prince who is forced to choose a bride at the ball. He meets many beautiful women, but find none which he loves. He spies one in a gorgeous gown and wonder in her eyes, and he dances with her all night long. The kingdom is sure he has found his bride. When the clock strikes midnight he tells her how he will never love a woman, or a man, in the way he is expected to. The beautiful woman smiles and tells him she expects nothing from him. The next morning the prince and the beautiful woman are missing, having run off together to see the world. They leave their shoes behind in their haste.

Many kinds of love exist. It doesn’t all have to be romantic.

Tomorrow is my last ever exam. After that I’ll only have my Master’s thesis left. But I’m so nervous now. I feel really underprepared because I just prefer exams that include a lot of calculations but this one requires binging a lot of information which I hate ugh.

I’m not worried about passing because I’ve never failed an exam but my grades are quite good right now and I don’t want to ruin my grade average with this exam which probably won’t happen but I just tend to procrastinate and the get anxious before the exam.

So I’m really only complaining about self-made non-problems 😅

I just read the ao3 fic that broke the bookmarks and there really couldn’t have been a better fic to break the website 😂

Even better to me because I read a lot of larry omega-verse fics. But it’s so nice to see all the comments from people from other fandoms who read the fic because of the bookmark thing and were so positive about the writing even if it isn’t their usual genre. I love the ao3 community <3
