thinking about the post-deal, pre-portal era a lot recently. like imagine how scared fiddleford was, seeing that the man he was roommates with in college and who he's been living with for a year at this point, was acting so strange.

especially at first, given how we know how bill acts when possessing a body for the first time, tripping over everything and saying things that are Off and Uncharacteristic for that person

and not knowing what the hell is going on, why ford's acting this way and saying these things. he's almost never sleeping and every day since he moved there he's been getting stranger and more distant, it's all so confusing and when the suspicion finally boils over, the next day he finds out what's really going on, who ford was really working with, finding out he's been lied to and manipulated and also seeing through the portal and being traumatized by what he saw at the same time. and when he gets pulled out, asks ford to destroy it, and he still refuses. he even calls him something like a 'stupid hillbilly' on the way out. 'stupid hillbilly' when the man he met in college was the only one to believe in him. URHFGHH

y’all just— thinking about how excited Stanley must have been to host the twins— Alex says he smokes cigars but he doesn’t smoke once in the show— has a beer gut but he only drinks sodas in front of the kids— doesn’t swear when they’re around which must have taken INCREDIBLE effort— Stanley Pines, known crook, buying pancake mix at the supermarket and many bottles of syrup— learning to cook basic healthy meals and burning so many of them before he gets it right— buying new sheets, new mattresses— avoiding bunk beds because it reminds him of Ford— looking at the attic room he made wondering “is this enough will they like me”— trying to act aloof at the bus stop so he doesn’t betray the fact that he was there hours early— watching them goof around and thinking of New Jersey beaches— then the first night they’re there, he watches them debate running away and only stay because Mabel shook a magic 8 ball. That must have kept him awake all night.

while reading journal 3 it did feel kinda odd and out of character for mcgucket to be so dismissive about what was, assumably, a pretty harmless wild animal that they were raising from birth. he just seemed so eager to get rid of him and now im realizing that it wasn't just his typical anxiety about the paranormal but also because Why TF Is Ford Treating It Like A Pet When He Just Tossed Out Frilliam?

can you imagine that? you got your partner who you think has been lonely a cool, rare pet that isnt easy to obtain whatsoever. you come home to find that said pet was unceremoniously released into the river with little to no explanation. and then suddenly hes bringing home a new animal and is acting all paternal towards it as if he didn't just toss out the pet you went out and adopted for him. thats fucked up man.
