The Five Crowns is open for its twenty-sixth wave of auditions!
WE WANT YOU! in The Five Crowns, also known as TFC, is a 16+, literate roleplay centered around the trials and conflicts of five Clans. While originally modeled after the five book Clans, TFC’s five River Territory Clans are unique to the canon, with their own extensive backstories and lore. The mod team encourages you to read the following documents prior to or during auditioning to learn more about the roleplay:

This is TFC’s twenty-sixth wave of auditions. We are accepting auditions with characters that are warriors in ShadowClan and SkyClan. When creating your character, we suggest perusing the roster found in the Systems Spreadsheet to gather more information about your character’s prospective Clanmates.
If the Clan you want to join isn’t open this wave, please note that the other Clans are opened inside the roleplay for new characters for members. If you’re unhappy with the Clans open in this wave, but want to give the roleplay a try, we encourage you to still audition.
Auditions will be open for two weeks, and will close on June 20th at 11:59pm EST. After submitting your audition, you will receive a Discord friend request from a mod so we can contact you if necessary. Acceptance messages will be sent to new members via Discord in the days following the deadline.
If you explicitly stated in your audition that we should prioritize a different method of contact, you will be messaged on that platform instead.

In case you’re wondering what TFC has been up to since the last auditions wave, here’s a recap of the previous plot and what has followed:
Since Hawkstar's conquest of the StarClan dreamscape, the River Territory has been in decay. Prey is running low, sickness is spreading, and leaders are dying—including Rueblossom, the acting leader of RiverClan after Swanstar's retirement.
Seeking to aid RiverClan and restore it to normalcy, young warrior Violetsnow traveled to the Whispering Tree and spoke with Hawkstar about a possible alliance. She agreed to join forces with him, and was crowned Violetmoon and given nine lives. She returned to the living world as RiverClan's new leader, and after bringing otherworldly power into the River Territory after seasons of decay, caused a power vortex to appear overhead the Whispering Tree. All the Clans were drawn to it and learned of her decision; a battle immediately broke out, during which Cloudedstar of ThunderClan was killed.
Tigerblaze, ThunderClan's new leader, was visited by one of the evil spirits, Batfang, in his dreams. Unwilling to work with his evil brother, but also distrustful of StarClan, Tigerblaze vowed to his Clan to ignore the ongoing war... but ThunderClan would soon fall sick.
WindClan, desperate to see StarClan's return, began to consider leaving the River Territory. In the meantime, they opened their territory as a safe haven for cats from all Clans to come for refuge from the war. Eventually, Jaystar approached his medicine cat, Viperlily, and sent her and four warriors on a journey to the mountains, where he hoped they'd find an alternate point of contact with StarClan.
RiverClan was initially distrustful of Violetmoon, but when their territory recovered as promised and prey began to thrive, they welcomed her as their leader. Violetmoon, carrying out Hawkstar's orders, began to offer prey and other resources to the other Clans, hoping they'd join Hawkstar, too.
Meanwhile, Wildspark of ShadowClan had still not claimed leadership after Dawnstar's death, hoping to restore her spirit to her body. He was inspired by Violetmoon's decision to try a new method of contacting StarClan and eventually went to the Whispering Tree to speak with Hawkstar. He joined the tom on the pretense of having a lives ceremony with the StarClan spirits of his family—which he was granted.
Now, Violetmoon and Wildspark are working together to bring the other Clans to Hawkstar. They're starting with a return to normalcy: a Gathering under the full moon.
More information about this can be found in the “Plots” section of our main document!
Hehe a new kit and surprisingly not from TFC. Instead from a new (to me) Rp @therisingtidesrp Currently closed but keep an eye out as spots open when there's cats open.
With just a blink Bramblestar thought she had been pulled into another vision, only it wasn’t. The daylight suddenly shifted to night, the sun that had been clearly seen now covered by a certain blackness. She gasped at the change in light, panic sinking into her. “Cloudedstar?!” she called out, circling around as she didn’t know what the next branch was to step down. She needed to get away from this chaos. “W-What’s..w-what’s happening?!” she frantically meowed. With one step, Bramblestar felt her back paw only meet air and with widened eyes she quickly felt herself drop. A screech escaped from the leader as she tumbled from the near top of the tree, her body roughly hitting a couple of tree branches on the way down. With one final slam to the Whispering Tree floor, Bramblestar felt her entire world turn black.
This artwork, showing the moment of the eclipse triggered by Hawkstar’s complete takeover of StarClan, was made by one of our wonderful mods, @kitts-artblog !
If you’re interested in exploring the aftermath of these events with a character of your own, we encourage you to audition while you still have time! Auditions for TFC close at 11:59 pm on January 31! For more information about auditions, see this post. If you end up missing this wave of auditions, don’t worry—they open up regularly! We hope you’ll consider following the blog and interacting with our content in the meantime.
Saffronsplash's brother passed away in @thefivecrowns a bit ago and I finally got around to making some art based on it. Aspenflare was one of the few cats she truly bonded with so she's been going through it. Not to mention everything else that's going in the world at the moment
Hehe keep an eye out for auditions they might be coming sooner rather than later <3
Featherskip and Cattailbird meeting at a moonly Gathering was purely coincidental. The two felines became fast friends, finding that they enjoyed the other’s company, even despite being from opposing Clans. Over time, this innocent friendship became more intentional, starting with seeking eachother out at Gatherings, and slowly shifting to secret meetings in the Flower Field. Soon enough, Featherskip finds herself harboring feelings of love for Cattailbird, while the other is more oblivious. The RiverClanner convinces themself that they do in fact love the ThunderClan warrior back, but it doesn’t seem to make for a happen ending. Eventually Featherskip becomes pregnant, and tells Cattailbird, though their relationship becomes different. Distant. Gone are their fleeting meetings, not until Featherskip gives birth to two kits: Floweringkit and Fawnkit.
It is decided that Floweringkit will go to ThunderClan with Featherskip, and Fawnkit to go to RiverClan with Cattailbird. Siblings separated at birth, though the secret does resurface eventually…
With only four days left to audition, we wanted to showcase an upcoming litter in TFC! If you join TFC, you could very well audition for these two lovely kittens, or any of the other expanding families! While offering their services to WindClan to repair their tunnels after WindClan's badger ambush, ShadowClan deputy Wildspark grew tired of WindClan’s deputy’s immature and careless attitude. On top of concerns regarding Dawnstar gifting so many herbs to ThunderClan in preparation for their impending sickness, Wildspark constructed a plan behind Dawnstar’s back to return to the moorland to steal WindClan’s herbs located in their tunnel systems. They trespassed, stealing herbs, and notably looting their plot of blue root, the coveted cure to the Bluecough plague.
This stint made the leaders anxious about running low on necessary herb stocks, so when brainstorming how to move forward with preventing the StarClan-predicted sickness, SkyClan deputy Hollyhawk proposed a journey to the eastern mountains, where blue root grows naturally. While initially opposed, RiverClan announced they had experienced a similar sickness vision, and decided to send their medicine cat in hopes of saving themselves from debilitating illness.
Now, four warriors—Daffodildusk, Mantisbite, Grousegale, and Beetlesnow—and RiverClan's medicine cat, Nightswan, have set out toward the mountains, intent on finding the cure for catkind.
If you're interested in seeing how this journey pans out, as well as if the sickness visions are able to be prevented or not, follow our blog and stay tuned for updates!
A man in a wheelchair rolls into a liberal bar. He starts to order a drink, but another customer grabs the handles of his wheelchair, turns him around, and gives him a hard push in the other direction to get him out of the way and order a drink themselves.
The man in the wheelchair turns around and yells “Hey, what’s wrong with you?! Are you crazy?!”
The man in the wheelchair is asked to leave. Ableism isn’t tolerated here.
Hundreds of thousands of moons prior to the formation of the five Clans in the roleplay, there lived the Clan of Essence, a massive colony of wild cats that inhabited the River Territory. They were the first Clan to exist, and all current Clans, Tribes, and other organized groups are said to be very distant descendants. Members of the CoE worshipped nature, and divided themselves into four divisions according to the aspects they valued the most (air, land, plants, and water); these cats were eventually wiped out during the fabled Great Disaster, which killed off what remained of the CoE’s population.
The Clan of Essence’s greatest physical impact on the River Territory was their elaborate tunnel system, now referred to as the Ancient Tunnels by the living, that was unearthed in the Spirits plot when a WindClan warrior accidentally dug into one of the chambers. These tunnels were the CoE’s primary residence, and are spread over the entirety of the River Territory, with a few entrances in each territory. They used to house the spirit forms of the last members of the CoE, but since the Spirits sacrificed themselves to save the Whispering Tree, they’ve been empty. The Clans use the tunnels and the caverns and hollows they connect to as places of worship and to grow the unique Blue Root herb.
Auditions for TFC are open for another four days! If you’re interested in exploring the tunnels yourself, we encourage you to apply! For more information about auditions, see this post.
We hope you’ll consider becoming part of our history!
since its planned to accept as many members as possible to rise numbers, will there be any early acceptances to ease people in progressively?
We won’t be doing early acceptances, at least this time around, but the first week for newbies is generally pretty laid back. Check-ins won’t be required for their first week so there should be plenty of time for everyone to get to know each other and adjust to the server even if everyone is added all at once!
Shhh ik Christmas was a cool month ago but with TFC auditions being posted on tumblr I figure I should post some some art I did. These were little icons I made of Finchthorn and his family.

“Reedshell turned back to Nightpaw, a gentle smile on his face. ‘Nightpaw, you’re a super hard worker. If you can tell me about three herbs that I give you, I’ll let you have a whole day of break.’ Reedshell tucked his tail over his paws, waiting for Nightpaw to accept his offer.
Nightpaw's attention turned toward her mentor as he returned with a smile on his face. While she was grateful for his praise—again, Nightpaw couldn't help but feel her heart sink at the thought of being quizzed. But she feared that she would have to get used to it. ‘Oh, well—okay okay. Let's do it.’
‘Alright, here are your three herbs. One, juniper berries. Two, borage leaves. Three, mallow.’ Reedshell listed off the three herbs, running through them in his own mind. He knew she could pass one simple test.
Nightpaw nodded and furrowed her brows in focus, listening intently to her mentor as he listed off a short series of herbs. Should be easy enough. ‘Juniper berries," she started, trying to recall everything she could. ‘They're purple, and grow on bushes. Usually not in season during colder months like leaf-bare. And they're commonly used for bellyaches. I think they're also used for breathing and give a soothing effect as well. Okay, now for borage leaves. They're a dark green leaf, and they're used for nursing queens to help produce milk. Also good for bellyaches!’ Nightpaw thought hard. Her heart pounded at the thought of not being able to correctly remember mallow and its uses. But something about all three herbs clicked for her just then. ‘Mallow—also used for bellyaches.’
Reedshell hummed in playful thought after she finished. ‘You… passed! You really know your stuff.’”
Check out this snippet from a member interaction in RiverClan, one of the five Clans in the River Territory! They inhabit the Wetlands north of the grand Gathering Island, and are led by Swanstar, an empathetic yet naive leader.
With power-hungry leaders and fierce wars bloodying their history, RiverClan is renowned for their power in battle. The Clan was founded on a militaristic approach to Clan life, so battle practice and spars dominate their training curriculum, and warriors are often eager to engage in conflict and prove their strength to their neighbors. They spend much of their time preparing for war and developing techniques that hinge on their unique affinity for the water, in which they hunt most of their prey and swim in the warmer seasons; they’re trained specially to recognize fish migration patterns, and use their understanding of the currents to identify ideal hunting and fighting locations.
In reclaiming their title as the most powerful Clan, RiverClan led the charge against DuskClan from the moment they stepped paw in the Oak Forest. When their leader Icestar killed Hawkstar in a descent from the high branches of the Whispering Tree, they gathered the other Clans as their allies and drove DuskClan out for good. Now that RiverClan has conquered their enemy and won back the trust of their neighbors, they’re working toward remodeling themselves and maintaining the peace for as long as it takes to recover from DuskClan’s effects and prep for the next conflict.

“Silkbird wanted to visit the two elders—one, she had immense respect for them, and two, she imagined everyone could use a bit of company sometimes. Considering she hadn’t glimpsed Midnightcroon outside of the den frequently since her daughter’s passing, Silkbird hoped she was doing well. ‘Hi, Midnightcroon,’ she greeted, moving to sit nearby the ashy-coated she-cat. She craned her head around and extracted the snowdrops that were nestled in her fur. Once she grasped them, she dropped them before Midnightcroon. ‘I hope you don’t mind my intrusion, but I brought you some flowers—snowdrops. I managed to get some by the river that weren’t ruined by the snow.’
Still tightly curled up in her nest, Midnightcroon couldn’t help but to open a weary eye at the sound of pawsteps entering the den. It wasn’t often she got visitors, especially felines who weren’t related to her, so she was quite surprised to see that the familiar face looming at the entrance wasn’t one of her children. 'Silkbird,' she said groggily in lieu of a greeting, idly shifting into a sitting position to appear more presentable. ‘Thank you, they’re lovely,’ she murmured, carefully cradling the flowers in her paws. The femme wasn’t sure what had prompted the warrior to bring her the snowdrops, but she appreciated them all the same. It was nice to look at something bright and alive compared to the dreary landscape leaf-bare harbored. It was a wonder how something so pretty could grow in one of the most fickle seasons.”
Check out this snippet from a member interaction in WindClan, one of the five Clans in the River Territory! They inhabit the Grassland west of the grand Gathering Island, and are led by Jaystar, a perceptive yet reclusive leader.
When it comes to Clan life and the workings of the world, WindClan is deeply intelligent. They are highly attentive to their surroundings, and warriors are specially trained to monitor the skies, which includes recognizing patterns from their ancestors, to whom they have the deepest connection out of the five Clans. WindClan spends much of their time isolated from the other Clans, both emotionally and physically, as they live completely underground; they hunt and reside in the tunnels they’ve dug by paw over moons of labor. Aboveground, WindClan is exceptionally skilled at running, and renowned for their high speed and ability to hunt the quick-witted rabbits of the moor.
Left with an incompetent deputy and no leader after a raid that evicted them from their homeland, WindClan spent much of their time during the war against DuskClan on the sidelines. Their latest leader, Jaystar, was chosen by StarClan themselves, leaving the already devout Clan feeling as though they owe a great debt of loyalty to their ancestors. Now that they’ve returned to the Grassland, WindClan strives to mend their relationships with the other Clans and restore their reputation as strong and capable despite the inexperience of their leader.
