started as inktober, ended as... practise?
These are actually little 5 cm x 7 cm paintings, something relatively fast. I can imagine them mostly as stickers. The first one is my absolute favorite, but I'm also proud of my Halloween pizza. It was made based on a photo I took last year (before last year??).
I'm still working on my painting skills with watercolors.
Our Scottish trip really inspired me. I was so in love with the architecture and the landscape and this little restaurant called The Magic was just too beautiful to not do something with it. The prices were a little too high for us but we went inside to look around and, ahw, even the little garden era looked magical.

It seems I live and die for the dramatic scenes, which have a terribly mondane background. Like taking a big bath of blood red water - which is caused by none other than freshly dyed red hair. Ever since I switched to professional hair dye, I've been ginger, which for some reason isn't nearly as dramatic when I wash my hair; but since I went back to my red, the gore-style hair washes have started again.
And I couldn't get this image out of my head even after I was there for a week on vacation, so I let it come out. I've been playing around a bit with procreate's brushes and surfaces, and surprisingly (or not), I really like this sketchy-messy style. It's not what I'm used to, but I think it was great as an experiment. And I should probably play with the shadows more, because the two-sided light seems to be a whole new thing for me.

So who figured out how to make a sketchy-pencil drawing in Procreate? Who won't lineart properly for months from now and everything will be sketchy shit? MEE!!
She looks too much like Clary (or Jocelyn?) for me, so I'll probably get her hair a darker red. Or something. ...This is the problem with the stylized drawings, if they are not specifically different enough, I myself would easily believe that it wanted to be a fanart and not an OC. x,D Anyhow, she is a missing member of my old Hungarian-based shadowhunters team.
Maybe should I somehow emphasize more that she has a dyed red head?
Should I make her hair color a brighter red? Unfortunately, the fact that the eyebrows are brown does not really help in the drawing. Any help or tips?

I'm not entirely sure I want to give it a title, because I like that it can be interpreted in different ways. I had an idea, then I dropped it. Then one more.
What would you call it? What comes to your mind seeing this scene?
Another digital portrait, mostly riding on the fact that I could steal the background from myself (and that I can do everything a thousand times faster with an iPad). Somewhere I'm still guilty of the 'same face' syndrome, probably because I still mostly draw myself (and the only reason I don't feel totally guilty is because my drawing teacher once told me that somewhere subconsciously everyone draws themselves in the details, let it only be the fact that a person with a larger eye size automatically draws everyone's eyes larger when drawing a portrait). In any case, I try to make friends with other face types, and my old Anett character was perfect for that.
I'm not completely satisfied with it, but I'm tired of only the perfect being good for me in everything; so another release. x)
I love the hat design, I'll keep it for sure. :D
Doodle art always looks a lot of fun, but for a very long time I didn't find time to deal with that and not with character drawings. (This is a very bad habit of mine that I may have let go of now. Thanks early March.)

Encouraged by my landscape, I wanted to try to make a sunset in this illustrative / unofficial watercolor style, and in the end I chose one of my pictures from last year, because apart from the photo reference, I only had the memory of what Lake Venice looked like. I'm not saying it's the best paper for it, but I swear I enjoyed painting this. :D
It was an old plan to just sit somewhere and paint, but now the situation turned out so well that we had the chance to meet twice in one weekend with @iwantacorgisobad, so we finally fulfilled this plan too.
I've always had a mixed experience with watercolor (I only have the cheaper version, not the real aquarelle), but I'm glad that I finally gave it a chance, because as much as I hated not knowing what I was doing, I really like the end result. No, it's not a watercolor painting, it's far from the rules, - it's not even on good paper, it's just a thicker sketch sheet, - damn it works for me as an illustration. :D

A quick illustration of our 'Teacher story', written entirely for our own amusement. (maybe one day it will become an episode story, but it takes a hell of a lot of time to encode it, ehh.) To be honest, it's the product of a total lack of ideas; and I just wanted to try the metallic felt pen with which I made the leafy pattern in the background. Then it looks like I ended up just loving this doodle.

I also liked the ginger shade, but now I feel that after last year it's time to restore my inner teenager, and for that, it was time to return to my roots. To be completely honest, this was inspired by a TikTok AI filter. If I can't fight the AI anymore, I'll at least take advantage of the fact that it gives me some inspiration if I like the result. Whatever, new portrait for my Autumn Queen character; and and I'm still finding my style with this new tool called Procreate.
I finished this lineart right before I bought the iPad. It was originally intended as a quick marker drawing, but I loved the linework too much for the cheap dark brown marker to wash it out. So I waited with her for the digital version, and how well I did. It's not perfect, but I've learned a lot. (For example how to turn off finger drawing lol) I feel I felt too comfortable with the simple light from the side kind of portraits and since I now had an exceptionally good photo reference for this, it was a great exercise to see how the shadows change if I don't choose the simple version.
I'm currently using the iPad to finish up old pieces, I mean like 2-3 year old ones.
This sketch, for example, I don't even remember how old, but probably around 2. It was good practice, and I'm really happy that Procreate is perfectly compatible with my mixed media style (traditional pencil sketch with digital coloring), because it's one of my favourite ways to draw outfits. The only thing I have to get used to is that there is a difference between the displays: the iPad has a much more vibrant display than any other non-Apple product. I finally realized what the clipping mask is good for and how incredibly fast it is to progress without having to erase around every single shading layer. The textured brushes are really great. I can't believe that the time for each of my drawings has been cut in half.

It really looks like I bought an iPad.
It's probably a life-changing event just for me, but I don't know if I ever spent so much money on something; even my Canon camera only costs half as much as this money-grabbing apple with all the accessories. x,) ...But it's really good. I understand the hype; the apple-pen is just amazing. And I had never used different brushes before. I had my 2-3 go to ones in Sai (mainly airbrush ones), but Procreate is next level.

So, as a test, I made an illustration for The Yellow Wallpaper short story written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. This was a buddy reading story back in October (...so I read it in the middle of May), but I have to leave it M. was absolutely right, I loved it. *-* I'm usually not a very good match with old horror short stories, I hardly find them scary enough. But even if I wouldn't call this particularly scary, it's certainly thought-provoking, and I love those things that can stay in my brain for weeks.
If anyone hasn't read it yet, I can highly recommend it. ;)
