okay heres like a psa though

a ridiculously large amount of the fantroll community is really shitty. especially considering lgtbq people. last time on my blog, i was completely silent about the things i saw that made me upset or the messages that purposefully provoked me.

and that made me incredibly uncomfortable, to the point where i left. so if i see an opinion that makes me feel uncomfortable here, im going to unfollow you. or vague blog about it on here. and if you dont like that, go ahead and unfollow me, it's fine.

it's probably going to make me look like a huge bitch, but i really dont care this time.

The issue arises when people conflate individuals with the institutions, regardless of whether they are some poor teenager who has precisely zero influence on the state of society as a whole. Militant anything tends to be entirely counterproductive, giving whatever cause is being promoted a bad image, catching a lot of innocent bystanders in the crossfire, and bringing trouble into the space people go to to try to get away from it in the first place.

Okay, yeah. And the situation that sprang this discussion up was kind of ridiculous. I honestly don’t really care about that. (And from your message, it seems like that’s what you’re talking about.)

It’s the fact that afterwards, people expressed their (transphobic, homophobic) opinions that everyone else sees nothing wrong with that at all bothers me.

if you get off of tumblr for literally five minutes, absolutely NO ONE is going to hate on you for being cis. if youre trans*, you dont get that peace.

most trans* people dont actually hate cis people, they hate the institution. like when i say i hate straight people, i dont actually hate ALL straight people. its a way to vent. (and no, its not okay to say "i hate gay/trans* people", because they are actually oppressed and have to deal with people saying that FOR REAL, in real life.)

obviously people can go too far, but most of the time its just a way to deal with the fact that in actual, real life, you kind of got screwed over when it comes to gender or sexuality or whateverthefuck.

this doesnt have anything to do with that actual thing that happened (which i honestly didnt care about it wasnt that big of a deal imo oops) that sprang up this dicussion but some opinions i saw around that bothered me lol.
