ATTENTION ARTISTS: Need help calculating your commission prices?

A tool that I’ve found is really handy is a called the Cash Clock. It’s a simple program that measures both the time that you’re working on a piece as well as how much money you should be earning. You can adjust the hourly wage to whatever you feel is right. Simply start the clock whenever you begin working on a project right up until you’re finished. It can give you a clear indication of what you should charge for commissions.

No artist should make below minimum wage for their artwork.

you know a really simple practice thing that’ll actually teach you a heck ton about art

drawing a weird scribble and then redrawing that exact scribble but mirrored

basically this

One side of the center line is just something I scribbled and then the other side is me copying it in reverse but trying to get the same shape and proportion

These are really simple examples that I was just doing for a quick warm up but trust me when I say it can get really hard depending on what you do to exercise and your ability to notice small details improves so much over time I Promise You

Hold on just a minute. 

Do y’all really think sakimi prefers drawing the same thing over and over again? She does it because that’s what the market wants and responds to, and so what pays her bills. I’m sure Sakimi started by drawing a shit ton of other things that also never got noticed.

Just because your super original style or experimental idea didn’t get the notes you wanted doesn’t mean you get to shit on artists who found and stuck to a formula that works. Your lack of success is not a popular artist’s fault.

So I just want to add, because it’s not on this particular version of this post, but those 3 were picked very purposefully to attempt to make a point without even linking to her pages where you can clearly see she does a hell of a lot more than just these which are still very beautiful btw. Not to mention that even in those 3 shown the only similarities are in skin color and maybe body shape literally everything else is unique and requires a tremendous amount of skill and effort. Also I know I don’t really _need_ to add to this post but I’m going to anyway.
