Mountview Update.
Sorry I haven't updated in a while!
Right so where am I now.... Last Monday I had my Mountview audition. Now before I get to how that went. lemme tell you a little story of how stupid I am.
Ages ago, I had booked (Or I thought I did) my train ticket to get to London, £51. And I thought I had booked it all and the rest of the money in my bank was mine to use. However, last Saturday when i went to pick up my ticket, and boom. There wasn't one to pick up. I hadn't booked it. No idea how I had done that....
With no money left I sent an email to Mountview saying I couldn't make it, and for it to be rearranged. 10 minutes later, a friend of mine, Mike, popped up on Facebook saying he'd bought me a train ticket to London.
Best bro around.
Right so now to the audition its self. The day started at 9:30. About 60+ people were there at the start of the day. We were split into groups of around 8-10. My group went straight to the monolouge section, we warmed up, and then performed our speeches to a panel of 3 and the rest of the group. That was around an hour and a half or so.
Second stage we did the Q&A session, we sat in a group and talked to a member of staff and a first year student about life at Mountview, most of the questions revolved around accommodation and what a day in a life at Mountview would be like.
Then lunch and moved onto the Third Stage, which was a movement class followed by an improvisation session. This was the stage I think which let me down. By this point I had been up for well around 30 hours or so. I know for a fact I could have done MUCH better, however I didnt give my best shot to this.
And finally, they take each person and place them in a room. The Yes room and the No room. This is to discover if you have got a recall audition, I unfortunately did not get a recall.
But, better luck next year. There was an astronomical chance of me getting in on the first shot. There were people their who had been applying for around 6 years or so. Its all about dedication and growing as a person throughout the years.

I have Mountview this Monday though, having to be in London for 9:30am. So that 4am start should be a blast.

ah shite. I'm doomed for funding at the moment! Ah well, maybe they will be able to put my mind at rest :). I'm just going to go for straight acting, I can't dance to save my life. I've only applied for RADA and LAMDA as they offer the most help money wise. Guildhall are apparently very very generous but their audition fee is £60! Is this your first year of auditions?
Yeahh student finance acts the same as if you were going for a Uni degree course which is nice though! The audition fee's are insane though, plus travel! It is my first year yeah, so not expecting to get in at all, just put my name on the board aha You?
Thanks for the answer :) are their questions acting related at all? I heard that it was pretty finance + funding related :/ ooh mountview, are you going to go down the musical theatre route too or stick with straight acting?
Its a little bit about you as a person, finance does come up when they ask if you have student finance sorted, and what you're job is, and what you do in your life And Id love to do music theatre at some time in my life, but for now the main plan is just professional acting :) You?
Hey, I found you in the LAMDA tag. Bad luck but I'm sure you'll get in somewhere else :) I was wondering about the interview process? Do the panel you perform to do that or is it someone from admissions? Because it was that way last year and I'm wondering if they changed it. Thanks!

And for LAMDA you do your monologues to a panel of three, and then for the interview its 2 LAMDA staff members and an ex-student aha

LAMDA Update.
So i just received my email saying I didnt get a second audition at LAMDA.
This came as no big surprise to me as I kind of messed up the audition, and I know what to do better next year.

LAMDA Audition.
So it was yesterday, I traveled over 200 miles to London and back.
I didnt get lost in the big city so thats a major plus point, and Im still alive so thats pretty good.
However, its an audition I walked away from feeling 'I really dont know how well that went'
About 5 lines into my classical monologue I forgot my lines, and rather than trying to force it to keep going, I stopped, looked at the panel and asked if I could start over. They said yes, I restarted, did it perfectly the second time. And did my contemporary monologue perfect as well.
The interview panel went well too, not to over sell myself but I had the room in roaring laughter several times during the interview so I think I charmed them pretty well.
I honestly dont know how its going to play out, but now I have a 2-3 week wait to see how it went down.
So guys. Tomorrow, Im going to be auditioning for drama school. Wish me to break every limb possible.

Figured Id update all 14 of you once again, this is actually like a monthly update now eh...
So whats new?
Well, in 4 days now I shall be traveling to London (for the first time ever, Im a terrible Englishman) to go to LAMDA, the London Academy for Music and Dramatic Arts. The equivalent of Oxbridge for Drama Schools. 30,000 people apply for this school every year (apparently) but you know how many get in?
28-30. No pressure. Ive prepared my two monologues and song ready, still filled with fear.
Tonight I just got back from a script read through for When We Are Married. More on stage kisses coming my way. Woo....
And on the 12th of this month I head to Stoke to film a (very) short film. But two days of filming should be fun.
And also, on a slight side note, I have started a poor attempt at a Youtube channel, at the moment it contains two videos. One of the Vicar of Dibley performance I starred in. And one of a home made David Tennant impression I made recently. I shall be doing a much better Tennant impression video when I get round to motivation, and a Smith one. And also a Christopher Walken one. For the hell of it.

Just to say, and panic over, 11 days til my first drama school audition.
Havent slept properly since I booked them. Literal panic since the moment I clicked confirm.
But as some consolation, in 11 days I shall be stood in a building where some of the greatest British actors of all time have stood, to name a few, Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Baker and Anthony Head.
Thats right, gonna be stood in a building where Sherlock, The Doctor and Uther all stood. Its like a Tumblr/BBC melting pot.
Wish me all the broken legs in the world guys!
Forgot to mention.
Had an email this morning, from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
They've booked my audition, on November 23rd.
To any normal person, this date means almost nothing.
To a Whovian, its a damn important date.
To me, its a goddamn sign Im born to play The Doctor.
Strange Audition.
Today I went to an audition for Beauty and the Beast. An adaptation of the original, set in a run down, seedy theatre, in which two fairies narrate the story with occasional stops to interact with the audience.
I auditioned for one of these fairies, named The Man in Pink.
After my call, I was asked to wait. The director asked me back in side shortly, and said to me
'Kiefer, you're characterization is perfect, exactly what we're looking for. But (the dreaded but) the more I look at your performance, its perfect, but when I look at you, you're not the right look. The character is an old, ugly man towards the end of his life and you're just too young. Theres no way I could age you enough, or ugly you enough. However, I would like you to audition for George, the handsome prince at the end of the play'
Its such a sideways compliment that Im not ugly ENOUGH for a play. That I look TOO good, or TOO young. A comment I never thought Id hear.
