Throwback Thursday ⏳ The LAMDA Years
A turning point in Richard's early career was his decision to complete a 3-year course in acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). There he gained experience in student productions including David Copperfield (as Uriah Heep), The Cherry Orchard (as Leonid) and The Normal Heart (as Felix). 🎭
Written in 1985 by AIDS activist Larry Kramer, The Normal Heart chronicles the early days of the AIDS crisis in NYC. As today is HIV Survivors Awareness Day, it's fitting to consider Richard's performance as Felix, a role that coincidentally won fellow actor Matt Bomer a Golden Globe for the 2014 HBO adaptation. One can only speculate how the course of Rich's career might have changed if he, and not Matt, had been cast in that movie. 🤔
I'll just leave it here to shine upon you
