Three weeks, three whole weeks you’ve been parents. The lack of sleep has absolutely sent you both crazy, but you wouldn’t change it for the world. Plus it’s not like she’s actually a difficult baby she’s just cluster feeding and it’s a lot. As first-time parents it really is a lot- so much adjusting because it’s like they always say; you never truly know what it’s going to be like to have a baby until you have one. No matter how much baby sitting or how much you’re surrounded by families young children when you get together.

It’s six am and Ellie is on her second feed of the day having woken you up screaming at four and settled the instant that she was on the boob. Which you still find a constant miracle, not only did you grow her for a full nine months, well actually more, she had to be forced to vacate because she’s a lazy girl; something she certainly gets from her daddy, but you get to feed her too from your own body.

You’re sat against the headboard your tv playing quietly in the background as you pat at your daughter’s back softly. Her soft yet desperate glugs warming your heart and on looking at her face you find her staring right back up at you. With her constantly developing sight you love that she can now make out shapes that she really is beginning to see you. It always warms your heart, because you knew you could love, you love Joel so much you could die, but your love for Ellie is even stronger, runs deeper. You’d kill for her, do whatever necessary to ensure her safety and the thought of something happening to her leaves you constantly terrified. Your husband is amazing at calming you down when those worries come to the surface when you can’t stomach the anxiety any longer and just cry. He’s perfect and always knows exactly what to say to make things right. To soothe in times of need.

Just as he’s doing now. He walks into the room with a steaming mug of fruity tea and some toast, you’ve been obsessed with fluffy white bread since you found out you were pregnant and as much as you assumed the craving would be gone when she was born, you’ve been proven wrong way too many times since. It’s the perfect combination especially when you’re sleepy. You know that you’ll finish feeding Ellie and have a full stomach yourself and with that you’ll be able to sleep some more.

“Made sure it’s extra buttery f’you my darlin’.” He mumbles softly as he places the tray next to you and quickly leans over to steal a kiss.

“Thank you.” You smile back at him, and he instantly returns it. You absolutely love everything about your relationship, how far you’ve come, just how much you’re in love with him still, how that love continues to grow.

He comes to sit next to you with a mug of his own, well not fruit tea it’s obviously the strongest black coffee possible because he’s a coffee addict, even at six am. His beautiful body exposed with just a pair of boxers covering that special part of him.

“Enjoyin’ the view?” He jests as he takes a sip of his coffee turning his head to look at you.

“Absolutely I am.” You chuckle back as you take a bite of your toast. You gross throwing your head back against the headboard. “Fuck that’s good Joel.”

After Ellie is done feeding and is winded you place her to lie on the bed between the two of you whilst you finish your breakfast, and she is more than content to lie there and explore her surroundings.

“Ain’t she just precious.” Joel grumbles moving a hand to stroke across her tiny stomach. “I could stare at her all day n’night and it still wouldn’t be enough, m’obsessed.”

“Trust me I know the feeling.” You chuckle.

He moves his mug from between his legs to the side table and grabs Ellie, who startles if only for a second before realising she’s in her daddy’s safe hands. Placing her to be sat upright on his thigh facing you, you stare at her beautiful blue eyes whilst he strokes at the back of her head. You often wonder if her eyes will stay blue.

“She’s goin’ even more bald back here.” He inspects the back of your daughter’s head.

“Well yeah, she’s lay on that almost all the time, it’ll grow back.” You chuckle. “She’s gonna have lovely thick hair just like her daddy I know it.”

He hums to acknowledge you before leaning right back against the headboard mirroring your position and brings Ellie to be sat on his chest, holding her upright with his strong hands he stares at her.

Of course Ellie is so small she has absolutely no idea what’s happening, no real way to interact and absolutely can’t hold herself up. But it’s still the most beautiful thing to do with her she’ll just stare at you properly with them piercing eyes, she’ll let you bounce her although Joel found out the hard way not to do that instantly after a feed so it’s only subtle.

But it’s just the most beautiful sight. Your husband laid in your bed with your newborn daughter sat on his chest as he coos. You’d absolutely die happy in this moment.

“Who do you think she’s gonna look like more?” You quiz softly and you explore each of her features intently.

“S’a hard one baby. She definitely looks more like you now but who knows, they always say the first-born daughter looks like her daddy.”

“God if she gets your brown eyes, I’m gonna fall in love with her all over again.”

He chuckles “I hope she looks as beautiful as her mama, and her eyes stay blue; them men will be linin’ the streets. Although miss Ellie” and as if she knows her name already, she seems to look his way. “No men till you’re thirty-five y’hear me?”

You chuckle as you lean into his shoulder staring at Ellie along with him. “He means it baby; your daddy can be mean when he needs to be.”

You could swear she smiles at you enjoying the antics of her parents, of the life she has been brought into. Acknowledging how full of brightness her life will be.

“We’re gonna give you the perfect life babygirl.” He mumbles at her.

“The best.” You add on a whisper.

My life series is definitely my biggest with the most baby Ellie content and it’s something I have so many ideas for! So much is to come because these stories seem to come so naturally to me and I have so much passion for it! There’s also my Time is of the Essence fic this includes baby Ellie too!

I try to include Ellie quite often in my fics, my Forever series has Ellie in it but she’s her usual 14, it shows so much character growth, Joel and Ellie have a good relationship consistently and their family does grow in the best ways it’s just a beautiful story of a happy family- the family they both deserved if that’s of any interest. 🙃

I will just add as a final lil note, I do have works in progress away from my series which are baby Ellie too I’m just not sure as and when they’ll be finished and posted!🩷

When Two Become Three

Husband Joel Miller x Pregnant Wife!reader

Summary: The day you've waited so long for is finally here and you're content to labour at home, but when its officially baby time it doesn't seem like the midwife is going to make it in time and so Joel and you work through it together. Content/warnings: TW-childbirth, Joel Miller being the most amazing husband ever. So much beautiful family fluff. Joel calling you babygirl. A/N: Really hope you enjoy this fluff piece and Joel miller being the most beautiful husband!

The tub is about the only place you can get comfortable. Labour is killing you and you’re so ready for this baby to just get out. But Jackson is so quiet and there’s so much help close at hand whilst the pain is excruciating being able to do it in your own home keeps you calm. It’s your safe space, just you and Joel. Who is being the most amazing help possible.

The plan has always been to labour at home alone until it gets to a point where the midwife would need to be radioed. And that’s the moment you’ve been waiting on for the past few hours. Joel really has been amazing helping you get out of bed, pace the room, putting that amazing counter pressure on your lower back when it’s needed and is just being there. His words so soothing, his touch vital in helping you from losing your mind and he knows it. He knows exactly how you need him, and he is more than ready to be that help.

When the bath seemed to be the only idea you thought would help, he was straight on it. Filling the tub with beautifully warm water and everything has seemed easier since the moment you sat.

The contractions are still agonising, but you can manage much better the water is the most amazing help.

You’re glad to have a tub which is not fixed to a wall on one side because it means Joel can access you from any side of the tub, it means when you get into a comfortable position you can just stay, and he will attend to you however is needed.

You’ve just got through another gruelling contraction when you look to him with pleading eyes.

“What d’you need from me baby girl?” He speaks softly as he strokes some hair from your face “it’s killin’ me seein’ you like this.”

As you pant you smile at him with as much energy as you can muster “I want you to be in here with me. I need to be with you.” You groan as another pain seems to already be on its way.

“S’that, what you want baby, you want me in the tub with you?”

You move your forehead to rest against your arm which is on the side of the tub and begin groaning as the pain takes over. “YES! Please Joel, please get in here!” You screech.

He jumps into action stripping himself of his clothes as quickly as possible. Keeping himself in his boxers because he’s pretty sure he isn’t moving from this tub till after the baby is born and he wants to be decent. And then he’s in the tub moving to sit and lean back against it and still contracting you move between his legs and rest your head on his chest, and you continue fighting through it.

“S’almost over baby keep goin.” He whispers as he strokes at your back.

“It’s so horrible.” You cry so desperate for some help in the relieving of this pain.

“I know baby m’so sorry I can’t do more, but m’here I ain’t goin’ anywhere.”

“Thank god for you, I’d die without you Joel Miller.” You add as you move off his chest to look at him.

He brings a hand to stroke at your cheek, “god you’re still so beautiful.”

You smile as you lean into his hand moving one of yours to your bump. You’re so ready for the end of this now, you’re so ready to meet your baby.

“How long have I been going?” You quiz whilst he continued to stroke. As is still force of habit he looks to the arm which holds his broken watch and sighs. You hate that it still haunts him so after all this time.

“I ain’t got no way to tell the time in here baby but last time I checked it was 4, so 8 hours or so now.”

“Fuck that’s such a long time.”

“I know, but she’s comin’ ain’t she?”

“Yeah, I can’t wait.” You smile and he smiles right back.

“Me too.”

And just as he says that another contraction starts, “oh fuck Joel! Something feels different there’s so much pressure!”

“Hey hey it’s okay c’mere.” And with that he helps you to lie back against his chest your legs over his and he rubs at your lower back and around to your hips and helps you as you scream through the pain.

“Fuck she’s gotta be coming so soon!” You scream as it continues.

“She’s comin’ baby she is, not long.”

“It hurt so much!” You groan in what is definitely your worst pain yet.

“S’okay shhh shh that’s it it’s goin’ just listen t’your body. That’s it baby calm shhhh m’right here with you through all of this.”

“I love you.” You pant as the pain begins to deplete.

“I love you too baby.”

And that’s how you remain for what seems like eternity, Joel has to let water out of the tub and add more hot. Just to keep it comfortable for you and the pains continue to get closer together and so much harder to handle. He massages your shoulders when you ask, literally doing whatever to help as best he can.

As one starts so suddenly you grab onto Joel’s hand and scream. “Fuck Joel radio them she’s coming now!”

He jumps using his free hand to reach over the side of the tub to grab his radio. “Come in s’Joel we need the midwife here now this baby’s comin’”

After hearing back from them that they’re coming he turns his attention back to you. “You’re okay baby you’re okay.”

“No Joel fuck she’s coming!”

“Baby you’ll be fine midwife’s comin’ she will be here in a few minutes, and she can help.”

“No Joel she’s not waiting she’s coming I need to push!” And with that you sit yourself forward slightly, but Joel follows.

“I’m pushing I can’t help it!”

“Okay it’s alright baby just do whatever your beautiful body is tellin’ you t’do. Let’s meet this baby!”

And with that you begin pushing grasping onto his thighs as you scream.

“Oh fuck!” You exclaim as you begin to feel the baby’s head pushing its way through. “Fuck Joel she’s really coming!”

“Alright baby s’okay m’here.” And with those words he moves his arms around you so he can position his arms between your legs, read to catch his newborn baby as they come into this world. “You’re doin’ so good baby keep doin’ nice big breaths between pushes. Well done you’re doin’ so good.”

And his words keep you going through the gruelling process of labour. He’s right behind you whispering the sweetest things to you as you push.

After a few pushes you decide to take a quick breath leaning against him and he moves his head to place a kiss to your forehead. “M’so proud of you baby you’re doin’ so well. Not too much longer, okay?”

And you nod back panting. He grabs your water from the side feeding you the straw, so you don’t have to move, and you enjoy every second of pleasure of feeling that ice cold water travel through your body.

“Oh fuck another one’s coming!” You scream instantly moving back into position holding your thighs this time to open your legs wider as you push. Joel’s chest is amazing support behind you whilst he positions his hands ready to catch.

“Oh fuck oh fuck!” You scream as he head finally pops out and it’s like a weight has been lifted from that moment even if it isn’t yet over.

“Hey well done baby she’s almost here! Keep goin’ she’s gonna be here so soon!” And he kisses your shoulder as you pant.

You nod and catch your breath before pushing once more.

“That’s it that’s it!” Joel exclaims as you continue to push feeling just how close the end is and with one final mighty push you feel as the baby slips free. You instantly fall limp against Joel’s chest, and he grabs the baby, lifting them from the water and moves them against your chest. Your hands instinctively rise to fall against the babies back as they begin to scream and Joel moves the three of you to be properly sat back in the tub. The two most precious lives to him in his arms.

The baby continues to screech and scream against your naked chest, and you have never been so happy. The happy tears imminent and on taking a second to proper come back into the moment you realise Joel is the same. You chuckle as you baby continues screaming and look up towards your husband who instantly looks down at you “I love you so much Thank you for this.”

You smile his words making you cry even more “why are you thanking me it was a joint effort” you chuckle.

He smiled back. “This was all you baby m’so proud of you.”

“God how beautiful.” You mumble as you look back down to the baby in your arms whose seemingly content lay against you.

“So beautiful.” He whispers.

“I couldn’t have done this without you Joel.”

“What have I always said, I’m always here for you baby whenever you need me.”

Just then the bathroom door open and Jackson’s Midwife makes her way over. Checking both you and the baby over, she clamps the cord and it’s at that moment where you can actually see whether she’s a girl like you always presumed, and of course you were right. Thankfully, there are no issues with your placenta it comes away easily with minimal pain, you’re very glad she was able to deal wig that and not Joel. He’s done enough for today and once everything seems okay Joel climbs out of the tub.

“Lay back baby m’sure it will be much more comfortable without me takin’ up all the space.”

And as much as you hate not being right by him, his presence forever soothing, he is right. Being able to lie back against the tub with your baby against your chest is definitely the most comfortable potion for you right now.

Joel sits at the baths edge admiring his two girls, content.

“I love you baby” he whispers.

“I love you too” you add and as if she knows what that means already your daughter who has only just started to open her eyes looks right at her daddy and coos. “She says she loves you too.” You whisper back as you stroke at her tiny hand as it starfishes in-front of you.

Chapter summary: With Ellie now two weeks old all you spend your days doing is basking in your new family bubble. In being a forever more grown family with a whole new routine. This morning you decide to bathe with your new born daughter with Joel's help and you both love every second of providing your daughter with so much love. Content/warnings: So much fluff that it actually hurts. Joel Miller being the most adorable partner and daddy on the planet. A/N: I am so obsessed with adding to the Life series!!! Ellie now two weeks old, and having a routine established means you and Joel can relax knowing so much more now. Having done it before with Sarah you’ve from day one felt it’s been easier, but the established routine most definitely helps. You know the usual times she wakes; what the different sounding cries means she needs; she’s a very easy baby it seems.

You're sat in bed, feeding her, still in total awe that your body can do this. Gently stroking her back and bottom whilst she feeds. She’s the most content little thing, staring up at you eagerly. As this happens Joel being the amazing husband that he is, is in the bathroom running you both a bath. He knows you’re still slightly sore and wants to do as much as he can for you.

Recovery has been a lot, your body exhausted from the ordeal of childbirth, the sleepless nights, and just how much you’re aching. Joel really has been the best though, anything you need he’s there. He always makes sure you nap trying to help you body catch up with sleep as quickly as possible, you’ve never been the best when running on a lack of sleep.

Breast feeding whilst it’s your favourite, the most amazing bonding experience with your daughter. It’s the thing that only you can provide her with. That closeness and that time, it’s really the best feeling. You love every second, but it's left your nipples painful almost all the time, even if is whole heartedly worth it.

Your gorgeous daughter gazes up at you, huffing through her nose as she drinks more than determined to fill her tiny belly. It’s as though time stands still as she looks up at you and you look back down at her. Her hand starfishes as she rests it on your chest. And if you could pause time, you would, just to be able to stay in this moment forever.

When she’s finished drinking you place a burp cloth over your shoulder and begin patting at her back.

It’s whilst you’re doing this that Joel returns, his chest bare as he wipes his arm with a towel. Fuck he’s so hot. You smile at him, and he smiles back “the baths ready whenever my gorgeous girls are” he grumbles.

“Thank you” you whisper back as you rub the small of your daughters back. Joel moves to sit on the bed looking at you; it doesn’t take long for her to let out a burp.

"Wow, good burp baby girl" he adds tickling at one of her tiny bare feet.

It’s impossible not to burst out laughing at his remark.

"What you laughin’ at?" He looks back to you with a wide grin on his face.

"Oh nothing, you weirdo." You utter whilst still laughing.

"Erm weirdo?" He quizzes as he joins in with your laughter.

"You’re just super cute with her and only you would praise her for burping.”

“Well it’s because everythin’ she does is so stinkin’ cute, now” he reaches for his daughter “let me take ma girl and get her ready f’her bath.”

He carefully takes her from your arms allowing you to get yourself ready for the bath. As you undress, he removes Ellie from her sleep suit. Being oh so gentle with her as he always is. You stop for a moment and just watch the pair of them bond. The way he speaks to her so softly, ever so carefully removes her from the suit and strokes at her hair as he coos. After removing her diaper too you walk to the bathroom.

Joel holds Ellie in one arm so he can use his free one to help you to sit in the bath. Once seated you bend your knees so that you can rest Ellie against them. Its muscle memory to bathe in this exact position. Your daughters rightful place so you can both just admire her. Joel gently places her to sit against your pelvis. Her little feet and legs across your stomach and head resting against your knees. Joel is there the whole time sat on the bathroom floor appreciating his girls.

As per, Ellie is super awake. Her wide eyes staring back at you as you stroke her tiny feet. Playing with her tiny toes and then doing the same to her little fingers. You swear she smiles at your actions, but you know that’s impossible with her being so small, so young, but the sentiment is there, and it melts your heart.

You still can’t believe she’s yours, that you carried her for a whole nine months and now forever more, you’re her mother. It’s the role you were always destined to play; you’ve known that since Sarah was born five years ago. And now you get to do it all over again, watch another of your beautiful daughters hit milestone after milestone, whilst also getting to see your older daughter be the best big sister. Getting to watch them grow together is beautiful and you’re already so excited to do it for the rest of your life.

As her beautiful wide eyes stare at you, you utter “hi precious girl, oh I know you, hi" you stroke her cheek, and she leans into it.

You don’t know how long you just sit there staring at her as she stares back curiously. With Joel on the sidelines, watching his favourite scene play out as he has done every other time its happened, as he did when Sarah was born too.

Eventually coming back to reality, you begin washing her tiny body; Joel strokes Ellie’s head as you do so, to calm her further. Commenting on how you swear her hair is getting longer and longer. It really is…

She’s a content little baby and rarely stirs once asleep; it takes a lot for her to become grumpy or irritable when she’s awake, so it doesn’t take long for her to fall completely asleep whilst she’s been bathed. The mix of warm water and personalisation in the touching of her skin you both give her causing her to snooze. When asleep she makes tiny little whimpers the cutest little sounds . You both admire her sleeping figure, watching her tiny chest go up and down.

Joel leans his head against yours and you turn your face enough to meet his eyes smiling as he smiles back before he leans over to kiss your lips.

“I love you darlin'."

"I love you too."

Ellie makes a noise again in her light slumber and so as the moment parts you decide it's time to clean yourself off. Joel grabs Ellie waking her fully as he takes her off your lap, wrapping her in a tiny, little pink hooded towel.

"Hi, my beautiful girl" he grumbles.

You watch as he swaddles her tightly cooing at her as she makes a small grunt from the tiny amount of cold, she feels before she is safe and warm in her towel cocoon. He holds her in his strong arms as he leans to kiss her forehead. She may only be a couple weeks old but, in his hands, she looks like a newborn again. Completely and utterly tiny in those big arms.

"She still looks so tiny in your arms” you laugh.

He continues to stare at her "she's so beautiful, l just can't stop lookin' at her."

"Mmm, I know” you smile.

His eyes meet yours across the room, and the happy daddy glow that fills the room is enough to make your heart explode. There is no way that it is at all possible for you to be even the slightest bit happier. "You be okay if I take her into the bedroom?”

"Yeah, I’ll be okay baby, won’t be too long." You utter as you grab your strawberry shampoo from the side.

Now free you’re able to wash your hair and body. Encasing yourself in the warm bubbles of the bath - when your skin is fresh and clean, you finally step out to wrap yourself in the fluffy towel Joel had left out for you. After drying yourself off you wrap it around you and walk back into your bedroom.

You can near multiple voices as you walk along the hallway, indicating Sarah has finally woke up and your heart flutters.

When you enter the bedroom, you find Joel and Sarah sat on the bed with Ellie lying between them.

Cooing softly as she kicks her little legs whilst chilling in just her nappy. Sarah has woke up at just the right moment and so Joel is instructing her on how to put the moisturiser on Ellie’s soft skin praising her as she does so. Sarah who is sat on her knees beside her little sister squirts some of the cream into her hands before doing exactly as her daddy instructs.

"Hey” you whisper "how are my three-favourite people?”

Joel turns his head to look at you "we're good, better now you’re here. Come, sit” he pats an empty space on the bed next to him. Situating yourself down you both look back to Sarah as she bonds with her sister. Rubbing in the cream with so much care.

"Sarah you really are the best big sister."

"I am?" She looks up at you but still has her sister’s hands in hers.

“Yeah, precious girl, you’re the best!"

"She's right" Joel adds “you’re the best big sister, always helpin’ her, you’re so gentle with her and you always help us when we ask, we're so grateful for you babygirl." He strokes her cheek.

"Plus she told us you’re the best" you wink at her.

Ellie makes a small noise as if to agree, regaining everyone’s attention and she stretches her arms outwards. Joel then picks her up and brings her head to his lips to kiss it. Before standing and taking her over to the changing table to dress her for the day.

"Sarah you wana come pick her outfit?"

"Yes, please daddy!" She runs over to the closet and begins picking out an outfit.

Deciding on a yellow sundress as it’s nice and warm out today and she has one almost identical to it so they can match.

You dress yourself in a black lounge set, still opting for comfortable clothing especially on days where you’re just staying at home. In your new expanded family bubble.

The day is spent lounging and relaxing. You still can’t get over that this is life now.
