The Never-Ending List of All My Favourite Ships ↳ Tohru x Kyou (Fruits Basket)
I just realised that Kyo wore the black shirt when both Kagura and Tohru decided to confess to him.
tbh i'd see the shirt and confess too, damn
The Sohma’s: *enjoying the beach*
Kyo:
Tohru: *struggles to swim*
Kyo:
Listen. Here’s the thing. I think a lot of people who speak up about different aspects of fruits basket (thinking specifically of the pedophilic relationships) get hit with “fiction is allowed to explore dark themes and doesn’t have to be pure all the time” which is actually fair. Fiction is allowed to explore dark themes. That’s what it’s for. That’s how we get social commentary in literature, which is vital to understanding the world. But there comes a point where the author is no longer making commentary. There comes a point, after the fourth* romanticized pedophilic relationship, where it is no longer saying anything except “I think that adult men should date underage girls”. And that’s where I no longer respect the commentary that is being made. That’s a pattern, and it’s normalization, and it did very badly mess up my perception of healthy relationships when I was 13 and impressionable and so in love with this story. I still love Fruits Basket for its portrayals of abusive and forgiveness and breaking away from toxicity and cult-like situations. I love it for its perceptions into mental illness and recovery and trauma and pain. But I hate it, equally as much, for the rampant pedophilia. Thank you.
*yes, four
1. Kyoko and Katsuya (15 and 21)
2. Shigure and Akito (while their actual age gap is disputed, Shigure groomed her from birth to love him above everyone else. They have an age gap between 5-9 years)
3. Uotani and Kureno (16 and 26)
4. Hanajima and Kazuma (16 and 40+. Even if it is considered a joke, I’m counting it. It’s in the text and therefore impactful)
I WANT TO PROTECT THE PATH THEY WALK UPON ... WITH ALL MY STRENGTH.
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Shigure trying to cause drama : REN
Any Sohma except Kisa: does something embarassing
Hiro 24/7:
The most important thing was, that she stayed with me….

did anybody else grow up bein that one friend who was in the group but not really IN the group??? like your friends would go places and throw parties and not invite u n stuff????? idk that really fucked up my self esteem hbu
“In Episode 9 we had the scene where Kyo-kun is recalling his various memories of Tohru-kun. It just goes to show that all along he has been unconsciously thinking “I love her”, each time he looked at her (just my belief
#Furuba #Fruits Basket”
“Just my belief” says the author.
I just??? Love Takaya??? So much????
thought about how we’re gonna get to see that one scene with the sheet animated and I cried and then drew this. Kyoru clowns rise!
“The most important thing was that she stayed with me.”
"She didn't take up all of my pain. She didn't fill in all the brokenness. But those..weren't important. The most important thing was that she stayed with me."
SUCH POWERFUL WORDS.
✨Honda Tohru is precious ✨
