I know people like Cas with the truck, but I personally hope he goes back to driving the continental when he is inevitably separated from the Winchesters again. For me, it’s become a part of Cas, similar to how the trenchcoat is now an essential part of him.

Like you don’t know how much I enjoyed Cas protesting “no, I don’t have a harp” in 12.01. I love Cas not being the quintessential image of what humans imagine Angels to be. No, Cas doesn’t own a harp, but he does own a car, and it’s such a human thing to own.

Also, as an angel, Cas never really would have had anything that solely belonged to him before so the continental is probably one of the first possessions Cas has ever had to call his own. I think that would carry weight with him.

Yeah, I just really like the idea of Cas having a material object that has sentimental value to him, and much like the impala is home to Sam and Dean, the continental was a steady presence by Cas’ side whenever he was separated from the brothers. This car carried him when his wings no longer could.

Take a moment to picture it in your head: Cas curling up in the backseat when he was tired during those times he was running on borrowed grace. Cas lying across her hood staring up at the stars, remembering what it was like to fly among them. Cas driving down those long, lonely highways with only the rumble of her engine as company. 

Then you have Cas slowly learning how to maintain her, just like he learned how to mend his trenchcoat. Cas going to the local library to read car maintenance manuals, asking advice from any mechanics he encounters. Cas learning to wash her and wax her to make her shine. She’s old, she’s not exactly efficient, she’s not the most beautiful, but she’s his and his alone, and that’s all that matters.
