Blaine almost cries when he and Kurt find themselves standing in front of a giant dragon in Wellington International Airport. Smaug is completely out of the way of the luggage collection and every single sign towards their bags points in a totally different direction from it; it’s really just a complete fluke that they had overheard some children with full Kiwi accents talking about their excitement to see the dragon from The Hobbit as they departed the plane. It turns out that the giant Gollum they walked past already wasn’t enough for the fanboy, much to Kurt’s fond exasperation.
There are a few kids around the dragon, all far more focused on touching the figure more than anything else. After reading a sign that let them know it was completely okay to get up close and personal with him, Blaine does exactly that, much like the kids. “Kurt,” he says, turning back to where his husband is standing with both their carry-on bags, “can you take a picture?” Kurt lowers his phone. He absolutely under no circumstances was possibly already taking pictures of his husband and how adorably excited he was.

“Blaine, as your husband, I have the right to say this; you are absolutely out of your mind.”
“Kurt…” Blaine whined, tugging Kurt closer with a cheeky grin, “you know you want to.”
“Blaine Anderson-Hummel there is no way that you’re going to convince me to do this!” Kurt huffed, trying to shake free from his husband.
“But it’s four storeys tall! Four! How often do you get a chance to sit on a slide in an airport!” He gestured to the slide just as a little girl gets in, her squeals echoing as she slides down.
They were in the Singapore Changi Airport, having just touched down about half an hour ago, both exhausted from their flight. Yet as they were lugging their heavy suitcases around the terminal, trying to find the taxi stand, Blaine suddenly lit up, pointing eagerly at a huge twisty slide and declaring that they ride it.

“Kuuuuuurt.” Blaine whined, as he stopped in the narrow corridor, bent in half, panting and trying to catch his breathe. “Are we there yet?”
“Does it look like we are?” Came the snarky reply from his husband who was a few stairs ahead of him and who sounded just as breathless. “Come on, Blaine, I’m sure we’re almost there.”
“You said that last time I asked!”
“Which wasn’t even two minutes ago.” Kurt said and fixed him with a pointed glare. “I’m sure it’ll be worth it, they say the view is to die for.” He added, as he resumed the climb upstairs.
“I bet it is, especially if people die on their way there.” Blaine muttered, but took a deep breath and followed his husband, internally cursing the damn tower.
It was all Kurt’s idea. After they checked into their hotel late last night and were lying on the bed, he started gushing about that church, St. Elizabeth’s Church and its tower, about the view and about all the beautiful photos they could take and send to their friends and family. Blaine expressed his doubts after reading about “quite an exhausting way up”, as the guide book said, but then Kurt did that thing with his tongue, and Blaine was pretty sure that he would have agreed to anything Kurt asked for in that moment. Which is exactly how Blaine found himself in the winding, narrow corridor, with the steep flight of never-ending stairs.

Since it’s the home of Sound of Music and Mozart, Kurt and Blaine decide they have to visit Austria as well. To their dismay they find out with the help of Google that both are situated primarily in Salzburg, which is in the far west of the Viennese heart of the country but they only can fit in a weekend trip to Vienna.
It’s not like Vienna has nothing to offer though. Lots of guides tell them they should walk everything, so planning is inevitable. Originally they had planned to take a bus tour to the most important sights, but once Kurt hears that there also horse carriages doing those tours there’s no stopping him.
“Come on, it will be so romantic!” Kurt pleads and Blaine really can’t deny him when he’s making that face.

“Did you know,” Blaine says, holding Kurt’s hand as they’re waiting to board the little river boat, “that Berlin has more than nine hundred bridges? That’s even more than Venice has.”
Kurt laughs, leans over to kiss Blaine’s cheek. “Yes,” he says. “I do know. Because you’ve told me ten times since we got here.”
“Well, it’s true,” Blaine insists, pouting a little.
“I know it’s true,” Kurt assures him with a smile, squeezing his hand a little. “I’ve read it too. There’s even another river boat tour specifically for bridge history or whatever.”
“Oh.” Blaine nods. “Yes, I know, did you want to do that one instead? Because we could -”
“No, this one looks nice,” Kurt interrupts. “And there’s more to see here than just bridges, after all.”
“Maybe we can do the bridge tour tomorrow,” Blaine suggests, and Kurt groans through his smile.
“I thought tomorrow was for museums and the East Side Gallery!”
“You’re right, you’re right.” Blaine laughs, tugging at Kurt’s hand as the line in front of them starts moving. “Let’s stick to the plan.” It’s probably best if they don’t add more to their schedule – they already have quite the long list of things to do in Berlin.

‘I like Amsterdam,’ Blaine smiled, bouncing a little on the edge of his and Kurt’s bed.
Kurt turned around and raised his eyebrows in confusion. ‘We literally just drove from the airport to our hotel and you already like it?’ he asked with a chuckle.
‘Yeah,’ Blaine replied as Kurt continued to unpack their suitcases, ‘It’s pretty here.’
‘And colder than in America, that’s for sure,’ Kurt finished but smiled when Blaine came to stand behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist.
Blaine hooked his head over Kurt’s shoulder, murmuring ‘Oh come on, it’s not that bad. We’ll just have to spend the whole time huddling close to each other while discovering Amsterdam, huh?’ as he pressed little kisses to Kurt’s pulse point.
‘I guess,’ Kurt giggled, turning around in his husband’s arms, ‘I love you.’
‘I love you too,’ Blaine replied and ran his hands up and down Kurt’s back, ‘I always will.’

Kurt sighed regretfully as they entered the Paris Nord train station. Discovering Paris had been lovely, and he really wanted to skip the next stop in their itinerary in favour of staying there a while longer.
Blaine led the way to platform 7, where the Thalys train already stood waiting, and checked the tickets.
“Carriage 4, places 15 and 16,” Blaine read out, and they went to their carriage and found their places. “Hey, there’s even a bar here!”
“Blaine, we just had breakfast!” Kurt admonished his husband.
“I know, I know,” Blaine acknowledged, and then smirked. “Though we did work some of that off already before we checked out of the hotel, didn’t we?”

“You know what we need to do?”
Kurt giggles as Blaine’s voice vibrates against his ear, since he’s laying his head on his husband’s stomach.
“No, what?”
“We need to go to Paris.”
“Need?” Kurt tries to keep from turning judgmental.
For heaven’s sake, they already made it across the Pond, he tries to reason with himself before even trying to convince Blaine.
Extending the trip to Paris seems a bit too much, doesn’t it?
Well, Paris is a train away, would it really be that bad to go to St. Pancras right now and take the next train to the French capital?
Blaine’s fingers dig deeper in his hair. “Yes, honey, need.”
“I’m listening,” Kurt replies, opening his eyes to look up.

“Please don’t,” Blaine mutters, “I’m really tired.”
“I can’t believe you screwed up our bookings!” Kurt throws his hands up, “We were supposed to spend a whole week in London, but no, someone mixed up the dates and now we’re without somewhere to stay for two whole days!”
“Kurt please stop yelling,” Blaine says tightly, his hands over his face, “I’m really tired, and you’re really tired, and the hotel thought it was their fault so they gave us these rooms half off -”
“That doesn’t change the fact that we’re stuck here instead of in London!” Kurt flops onto the bed.
“Okay, you’re the one who got us lost!” Blaine snaps, curling his hands into his hair, “And blamed it on me even though I have been driving for five goddamned hours and I am tired and I just want to shower and go to bed!”
“Fine!” Kurt yells, “Shower! Go to bed! I don’t care!”
Blaine feels his face twist in frustration and he wants to yell back, but he doesn’t know what to say. So instead, he lets out a loud huff, grabs his shower bag and stomps into the bathroom.

“I thought it was meant to be summer.”
They get out of the hire car onto the damp earth of the campsite car park, still scattered with puddles from the last rain shower. The sky above is a myriad of greys, already darkening with the approaching evening.
“Well, this is the UK. I’m pretty sure they don’t have summer.” Blaine sighs and checks his wallet is safely in his pocket. “Come on, let’s go sign in.”
The reception is situated in a grey stone farmhouse, manned by a woman in wellington boots and a mud-splattered fleece jacket. She quickly goes over the campsite rules and location of the toilets and washing up station with them, and sends them on their way to set up the tents.
They find a spot towards the top of one of the camping fields, under some still-dripping pine trees, right in the shadow of the mountain above them. It’s chilly. Blaine pulls on an extra jacket.
The dreariness of the weather does nothing to dampen their holiday moods, and they manage to fumble their way through laying out the tent on the grass and assembling the various poles. Blaine chuckles and pokes Kurt in the ass with the end of one.
His husband turns round with an amused frown. “Watch it, mister, or I might push you off the mountain tomorrow.”

“Well this is unexpected.” Blaine fanned himself dramatically, sweat clinging to his brow as they dragged cases over the seemingly never ending cobble streets of Temple Bar, ducking and weaving through the crowds of people there.
They could have gotten a taxi or walked a simpler way but no, Blaine had insisted on the ‘scenic route’ to their hotel. Of course every other tourist had also opted for said route, tripling their travel time. Not to mention Blaine’s complete inability to check the weather before they’d arrived when Kurt had asked him to (“It’s Ireland! Of course it’s going to be raining!”) – on the plus side at least Kurt wasn’t suffering any sun damage through his totally not sunshine appropriate sweater.
“Yeah, no kidding,” he grumbled just as he spotted their hotel and felt a jolt of dread. He hadn’t been expecting anything glamorous considering what they had paid but he also hadn’t been expecting humidity like this and thus he really hadn’t factored in that they might need air conditioning.
“Is that the hotel?” Blaine was frowning in the sunlight, his voice just a touch above disdain as he caught sight of Kurt’s expression. “It looks great Kurt!”

Their driver, who had picked them up at the entrance of the Mexico City International Airport, hadn’t paid them much attention so far, except for helping them load their bags inside the trunk of the cab and gently asking them where they were heading. Blaine had shyly muttered, in the best Spanish pronunciation he could, “Hotel Royal, Zona Rosa, por favor?” and he had sounded so cute that Kurt was barely able to contain himself from kissing his husband.
On the way to their hotel, Kurt snuggled closer to Blaine, entwining their fingers together. When Blaine looked back at him, Kurt couldn’t help the excited laugh that bubbled out of him. They were in Mexico, in the capital of the state, of the country, and even though he was a little scared about their whole ordeal, he was also incredibly ecstatic, already wanting to get to their hotel so that they could leave their bags and then go touring around.
Soon enough, the taxi turned in the corner of the street and stopped after a few seconds, right in front of the Best Western hotel in which Kurt and Blaine would be staying as long as they were in Mexico City. Blaine was the first one to get out, and he held out his hand for Kurt to take it.
“Why, thank you, sir,” Kurt said, and Blaine winked at him as he helped him climb out of the car. Even after so many years together, even after getting married, Blaine still found ways to surprise Kurt and turn him into the young boy head over heels in love with his boyfriend he’d been back in Dalton, when they had first started going out together; the boy whose cheeks turned pink when Blaine kissed him or even when their hands brushed each other’s.
