SYNOPSIS: In which Tim Drake takes a small peek in the middle of your 2am bedroom cleaning.
TAGS: tim might be a lil ooc, stalkerish tim bc i know that guy is a lil freak, tim watching you from your window, reader is oblivious to his shenanigans, tim and reader are lab partners and occasionally do school stuff in your place/room, no use of y/n, 2nd person pov, no beta we die like men
WORD COUNT: 928
A/N: inspired by me cleaning my room bc i always do it at midnight and forget to close my blinds lol
Tim didn’t mean to look in your room, honest. He was simply doing his job as a respectful and innocent bystander.
He was out doing his usual rounds around Gotham City. You know, the usual swinging around sketchy alleyways (which is a lot if you’re living in Gotham) and fighting crime for dinner. He just so happened to come across your neighborhood and decided to do a quick look on how you were doing. Totally not weird and very much a normal bystander thing to do.
It’s not wrong to check on my fellow civilians, he reasons with himself, attempting to disintegrate his doubt.
He already knew the window in your room and which floor belonged to yours, he had been there more times than he can count. The yellow tinted window with curtains of your favorite color, with a small subtle shape embroidered on it—he had the interior memorized like the back of his hand. Your room was cute, and just so very you.
He swiftly swung on the rooftop of the building right in front of your room, making sure he was hidden in plain sight on the railing.
Was it weird to stalk your lab partner and possibly the person you like in their home? Oh yes, definitely. But Tim Drake isn’t your lab partner at the moment, he was the infamous Red Robin. Not the boy you make weird jokes with that people would not understand or the guy you argue about chemistry equations with. Passerbys would disregard his watchful eyes on you as Red Robin simply watching over the civilians, it’s his job afterall.
He deliberately peeks over your room to where he was perched on the roof. Your blinds were opened halfway and your lamp light turned on, already expecting you to be simply studying or doomscrolling on your phone.
What he was not expecting was how you were very much awake and cleaning your room at 2 in the morning.
From what he can see in your room, your clothes were folded clumsily to the foot of your bed while some are still left on the floor scattered, one of your drawers were taken out of their compartments (to be rearranged, he assumes)—all while you were dancing and singing along to a song Tim couldn’t quite hear.
He watched with both amusement and bewilderment at the sight before him. Never before had he seen you like that. It was a sight all too intimate, so vulnerable,
And all too endearing to him.
He can’t say he doesn’t like you—he just developed a small crush on you, although small would be an understatement. He hardly really knew you (that is a lie, he dug up every information he could find about you). Seeing you in a new light makes his brain fuzz with newfound information, he has to know what you’re listening to next time he sees you.
Was it cute? Silly? He couldn’t tell. All he knew was that it was impossible for him not to think of what it would be like staying over in your room right now.
Was that too crazy of him to think?
Something about the way you blissfully move around your room while dancing to God-knows-what music you were listening to made Tim feel tingly. It was messy, unguarded. He almost wanted to say he liked seeing you this way, might come to your side of town for patrol more often.
His heart dropped to the floor for a moment when you spun to look at your window, pointing a finger to what seemed like his direction.
“Oh fuck,” He curses before ducking so fast his chin hits the railing, he lets out a distressed cry as he crouches behind the building’s railing, the shadows of the night engulfing his red suit. His heart was beating loudly in his chest and his hands were getting clammy from nerves.
He inched his head above the railing he was behind on, trying to catch any sign of you pinpointing to where he is, or scorn him for being creepy. Yet you were still blissfully swaying your hips and mouthing what he assumed were the lyrics of the song.
He sighed in relief, that was close. If you had looked further on your window, you might’ve not missed the familiar red suit tucked on the rooftop.
As if finally noticing your half opened blinds, you gasp before immediately rushing to close them. Shielding his line of sight from your cluttered room.
Tim tries not to deflate at that, disappointed he couldn’t see you anymore. He rubs the redness on his chin, an attempt to soothe both his ego and bruise. He stands up slowly from where he was crouching, already stepping further away from your window. Just in time before Oracle speaks through his comms.
“Red Robin, status report.”
Tim straightens his back, “Uh, all fine here.” He stammered in surprise, totally wasn’t watching someone behind their window, of course not.
“Good, return to the cave. We’re done for tonight.” Oracle's voice laced with authority announces before a beep follows. Tim trudges slowly, already dreading the way home.
The next time you see Tim, his chin had already grown a red gash on it. Although maybe it was a little worth it when you oh so sweetly gave the small scratch a cute sanrio themed bandaid, tracing them gently with your delicate fingers. The feel of your hands on his face and being nearer to you than on your window was enough to make his worries melt.
SYNOPSIS: In which Tim Drake loves you in the way that makes him red.
TAGS: tim is kinda freaky, God forbid a man yearns, tim lowkey wants to eat you, cannibalistic themes, 2nd pov, suggestive if you squint, kinda yandere tim tendencies??, tim might be a lil ooc oops, tim is your bf, he licks you, reader is unaware and thinks he's js silly

A/N: first time writing for tim waaa T-T not my usual content n writing style but i wanted to try something new!!
Red had always been a color Tim Drake wore himself with pride. Bold and passionate as he is, sworn to wear that color to build his own name from the ashes of the robin before him; thus becoming the Red Robin.
Only that wasn't the reason he chose that name.
Red could also mean danger, a warning to anyone who dares step foot on his meticulously created path, a danger that would snap you in half if you don't thread carefully. The kind of danger mothers tell their children, be careful or you will be clawed alive.
It was anger, a wrath simmering beneath him, quiet but just as deadly. The drive for vengeance and justice hot on his steps, a hatred for lowlife criminals that dare hurt what is his.
But most of all, red is the color of his devotion. Color deep like the thoughts he tucks neatly away, so deep that you blissfully never seem to notice. His love for you is danger disguised as a sanctuary—it bares fangs and a bloodlust so unquenchable he digs his nails to his palms to calm him down, for his sanity and yours. He doesn’t express love like feathery kisses, he says it with certainty—what is his is his.
He knows it's wrong to think that way, to think of chewing you alive just to taste what is underneath your delicate skin, to have you forever inside him—whole and not just the outer layers, to strip it all off and sink his teeth on you. He knows full well of his identity centered around justice, to save people from the very criminals who share the same grotesque thoughts as he has. Who could blame a boy for his dreams, right?
But he's not like this to anyone, of course not.
Only you get the luxury of infesting his brain, eating away all sense of rationality in his thoughts like maggots on meat until nothing is left.
In some way, Tim became the maggot creeping steadily inside you when you think nothing has rotted yet, quiet in the way you don’t realize is churning your insides. His gaze was too subtle; you mistake it for innocent longing under his icy eyes, blissfully unaware of the intensity locked on you when you turn from him. It takes every fiber in his body to hold himself back.
His urges become stronger after each passing day until he jumps at the opportunity to just devour you, all because you batted your pretty eyes on him, “I’m sorry, I just can't help it if you're so sweet—I mean, so sweet to me.”
His breath was hot on your nape, lips brushing the sensitive skin—false gentleness to lower your guard. The wolf is closer than you think.
He apologizes about the teeth marks sitting on your skin, as innocent as he could muster. You roll your eyes at him, not understanding the gravity of the situation you just pulled yourself in, “that’s enough snacking on me for today, weirdo.” Your grin stretches, but Tim simply stares blankly at you, already calculating his next move.
Then he takes it one step further, burying his nose deep on the curve of your neck as he holds you close—he inhales your scent like a drug, flooding his mind with the thoughts of you, inhumanly sick and twisted. Your scent was intoxicating to him, it was all too much and never enough.
His thoughts wander for a moment, before he takes a long, sloppy, wet lick.
You gasp. He smiles innocently at your shocked reaction, unfazed with the way your nose scrunched in protest.
“Eww Timmm that's grosss..” You whine, shoving him gently away from you, never truly any malice in your words. You pry yourself from him, carefully sliding off the couch you were tangled in.
You cup your hands to his face to keep his mouth off you, but he only takes hold of them in his palms before inhaling softly. His hold on you kept you in place, never hurting you but encasing you both mind and heart.
“Last one, I promise I won't do it again..” He murmurs, but he's not convincing anyone. His mind is already a labyrinth of thoughts spiraling all at once. Your scent, your skin, your eyes, your mouth—
He's turning red all over again.
“Uh-huh and you're getting shy now? Whatever dude,” You teased lightheartedly, unaware of the chaos happening before you. He just hums in acknowledgment before leaning back to your shoulder. It was quiet for a moment, the buzz of AC filling the air.
“I kind of want to eat you sometimes.” He suddenly blurts out casually, as if he wasn't itching to take a bite out of you 5 minutes ago.
You in your unadulterated confusion and amusement, you bare your teeth to him in a toothy smile. “You're so silly sometimes, did you know that? And a lil weird too.” You giggle, finally detaching yourself from him.
“I’m going to get a snack, do you want anything?”
You. That's all I want.
The thought almost got out of his tongue, tempting him to utter just that. He swallows thickly, drowning it down before he scares you away, he can’t have that happening anytime soon. He shakes his head at your question. “I’m good.”
Only when you left did Tim crack completely, unforgivingly unhinged and yearning you in more ways than one. He can't tell you how you unravel him and make him whole altogether, he can't risk you getting away from all the work he'd put in just so you’d let him stay.
But that's what you get for making him red.
He’ll let you think of him as your sweet boyfriend Tim, the boy who could never go wrong in your eyes— just as you won’t know these thoughts that keep him up at night.
I’m actually going to reblog a thing just because this is really important.
As someone who has epilepsy and used to have several grand mal seizures a day, I’d also like to add that “offer help” can range anywhere from keeping the person calm to explaining to them where they are and what they were doing to even just telling them they should sit and rest for a while longer (lack or coordination is common, and it can be hard to walk straight or see clearly).
It’s okay for them to take up to a half hour to fully regain their bearings and sort out what they were doing prior to the seizure. Just answer any questions calmly and be there for support.
If they come around and you start to panic or shake them or ask them what the heck is wrong with them they are going to freak out and panic too.
I cannot stress it enough that this is bad.
If someone has a seizure and they come out of it, please. please stay calm.
They are likely disoriented and confused, even if it’s only for a minute or two, and you don’t want them panicking on top of that because they can have another seizure as a result.
ALSO!!! If a seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes you should call 9-1-1. It’s possible they have some kind of rescue medicine on them (like a nasal spray), if they do, administer it at the 5 minute mark of their seizure before or while calling emergency services.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
My eyes are locked onto the outside, my throat tight.
I stare blankly at the circular piece of reinforced glass separating me from outer space.
My eyes are locked onto the outside, and the silence has never been this loud. The space is so stressful.
No matter how much I look at it, the little grey ship keeps getting closer and closer to the planet as its form slowly melts with the planet's patterns. Farther and farther from me.
I bite the inside of my cheek slowly, trying to process it calmly as my wall of neutrality slowly crumbles.
I'm not sad—...or maybe I am.
I don't understand. I don't know. Do I?
And this incomprehension, this feeling of being lost, makes my heart so heavy in a way that could only be described as a gaping hole taking its place. A gaping hole pouring thousands of emotions through me.
My hand places itself against the cold material, before my forehead does as I close my eyes.
Slowly, my heart's rate was slowing down, but in an inverted proportionality, broken thoughts were racing once again in my head, bits of sentences and pieces of raw emotions cutting deep. Way too deep.
I don't. Understand.
Where are they going?
Why are they going?
What is happening?
I feel my eyes hurting, but nothing comes out of them. Instead, I feel the confusion slowly changing to... sadness? Dread? No...
To something even more intense...
Anger.
NO. No.... NO!
NOTHING can explain that.
After such a long time, they decided to just... leave me?
I don't give a flying fuck about the why, how, or when!
Wasn't the whole deal them thanking me for saving their life or something?
They killed the whole crew for this.
Wasn't the whole deal them not leaving me?
Was it because of this stupid planet? Were they so mad that I asked to go? They acted like everything was fine on their side literally minutes ago.
No, no! I push myself away from the airlock to focus on my reflection, my face deformed by anger confusing me even further. THEY FINALLY LEFT! I should be happy! Yes! Be happy, y/n! Smile! Be happy!
This wasn't right.
The tears that didn't come out before started rolling down my cheeks, and the crooked smile I managed to form disappeared like a drawing on the sand of a beach, devoured by the wave of salted water.
And there I fall on my knees, falling under the massive pressure of everything going through me. In the incomprehension of everything that was overwhelming me.
I get crushed by the realization that now, I truly am alone, here in the middle of space. Was all of this for nothing? I can't take it, my face falls into my palms.
No savior.
NO SAVIOR.
Not even the villain, not even the one that promised to stay.
What was the goal of all of this? For all I know, I could have been here for five years. Are people even still looking for me? Was I declared dead to the few that waited for me? To the people that forgot me? Just like the rest of the crew, was it so stupid to hope, just for half a second, that it was gonna all end well? The anger comes back and I squeeze my hands into tight fists, as I'm now sobbing loudly.
I preferred Earth rather than this.
I preferred the crew rather than this.
I preferred Atom rather than this.
What was... this... all this.
So that's how it will be now?
How it'd end?
Stuck in the middle of space, in a ship emptied of the only thing that kept it working?
I hate Atom.
I truly do.
But still. STILL. They made so many promises—none of these matter even a bit to them? They took so many lives.
What am I thinking? They are an alien, a monster, something that consumes beings like me to survive. They—... EVERYTHING was always pointing out toward this.
Was that truly what I was doing all this time? Avoiding the truth? Every time I asked them to look more human, tried to teach them things... was I just trying to create an act so believable that even I would fall for it? Even I could forgive I was once someone else, that it was always something else.
And what a cruel something it was.
Did it really do all this travelling, just to leave me in front of the door to paradise without the key to open them?
I hate how confused I felt. I hated how after all of this, that was what I earned.
And more than anything, I hated Ato—
Thump. Thump.
?
Footsteps?
_"Luna."
...
I didn't turn. I didn't move, but I felt a new wave of emotions crash against my body.
_"Are you fine?!"
Their running boots resounded against the floor before I heard the fabric of their suit brush against itself as they were crouching down behind me.
My brain refused to treat that new information, their presence feeling like an unwanted pop-up that I couldn't do anything but ignore, yet still attracted my attention.
_"You...didn't leave?"
I didn't even speak consciously. The words had to get out, even in the weak voice they came in.
_"Leave? Why would I leave? Luna, why are you crying?"
They got slightly closer, inch by inch, as what poured through my tears slowly started to boil inside me once again.
But before I could answer, they made a sound similar to a sigh and their arms suddenly wrapped around me from behind, almost cutting my breath off from the strength.
_"It's okay, Luna. Humans are sad sometimes, it's temporary, and it will stop sooner rather than later..."
They said so happily that it almost sounded insensitive. I let them hug me for a few seconds. The time it took for realization to hit me.
I just cried my eyes out when I thought they left.
I just cried and thought I'd rather be with them.
Be with...it.
My arms move before my mind can think and I brutally push them off, or more accurately, try. They budge only a little and I can feel their insides panicking under the sudden violence, but their grip only grows stronger.
_"Luna??"
They squirm with an insect-like scream of surprise. All of this only brings me back, over and over, to the nature of Atom and to the breakdown I just had over them leaving. Over me...missing them? Did I just miss them?
What was wrong with me? WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THEM?
I start to struggle harder, screaming at full volume in their embrace. They squirm and take every hit without a sign of wanting to protect themselves. Instead, they insist on asking me what's wrong, over and over and over. It only makes me want to hit them more; this doesn't even make more sense than the train of thoughts I just had.
_"It's okay, I'm learning, this is how I can help, right?"
I hate them, I hate them. I hate how despite being worried, they don't step back like they used to, how they've grown to know my limits, to never overstep them enough for me to crack, but never fully respect them either. I hate how worried they are, I hate the fact that they didn't go, but mostly I hate the fact that I thought they went away. And I don't even want to try to understand what I saw. I just want to get rid of all of this mess in my head, all of what I want to label as anger.
I scream over and over and I scratch and I bite and I hit, and they keep on talking.
But slowly my screams get less loud, and my movements slower, but they don't stop asking.
And finally my throat hurts too much to scream anymore, my arms grow too tired to lift them.
The silence is now only broken by them, still worrying while acting like they perfectly know what to do.

In one quick go, I scribble over what I've written in the little notebook.
I mutter to myself, reviewing the ideas once again in frustration.
I sigh. Is even any of this good? I know I can't predict every single possibility once we'll be there. There's absolutely no use in trying to prepare... but we're never too careful, right?
I pinch the bridge of my nose and sigh again before leaning back on the chair. I can hear a faint, slightly off-sounding melody coming from behind the door, confirming Atom did not leave their post.
After the little break they gave me following the argument, I naively thought that they were gonna leave me alone to focus on how to get to their planet... The key word is "naively."
They, in fact, did not leave me alone. Worse than that; they became even clingier than before. EVEN worse than the first days with them! I can't even convince them not to watch me sleep anymore—as they now decided that such an activity brought them "important knowledge." I didn't even ask what knowledge. I should have, but I didn't want to, and I still don't.
It's weird really. I mean, now that I got the time to take a step back, I should be able to reflect on these emotions and entirely focus on the positive. I have this persisting thought that I should at least feel a bit... grateful toward Atom. Even just a bit. It's not logical, I know, but logic doesn't change anything about feelings. But, speaking of feelings... this "victory"... it feels... unsatisfying. Not in the "I didn't work enough for it." Oh, God, of course not!
I did get what I wanted, I did spend I don't know how much time in this forsaken ship. But it didn't go the way I wanted it to go. Atom didn't accept because they believed my act, they accepted because I showed them I was scared... They know I'm scared, of course they do! That's not new! But it feels different this time. It feels like they learned something I had managed to hide all this time here, and that doesn't sit right with me.
I scribble the nonsensical sentence my hand started to automatically write while I was drifting in my thoughts and, after a few seconds of trying to find another idea to write down that wouldn't be worth hiding behind thick lines, my face falls on my notebook in a groan. I tried planning escape plans to distract myself, doing the same activities I've been doing since I don't know how much time...! But I keep ending up overthinking, and that doesn't help at all. Instead, it makes activities that should calm me down stress me even more.
I suddenly push myself away from my desk and get up. Visibly, nothing in my room is of good help... maybe getting out would be a better idea. I start walking to the exit before stopping myself in front of my door, just far enough not to activate the automatic opening of the piece of metal. I can hear that behind the door, Atom stopped freddoning. Maybe they walked away?
I hope just to be met with their visor as soon as the door slides to the side.
_"Luna! Are you done writing? We can spend time together now?"
They ask in an excited tone, jumping on their boots.
I stay silent for a little while. Since the argument, I don't really know how to behave with them. I don't want to be scared, but I am. And it makes everything difficult.
_"I... have some things to do."
I answer carefully, walking around them in the corridor.
_"Oh! I will accompany you!"
They say, following me.
_"NO!.. no, I need to do those alone."
I raise my arm to push them lightly away, but stop before doing so.
_"Alone? What is it?"
_"Atom. You know what 'alone' means."
_"What things?"
They insist. Oh, now I'm the one feeling stupid. I can't really answer as if it wasn't obvious that I did not want to do anything with them. But being honest feels too risky.
_"Some... things."
I say vaguely, walking faster in a useless attempt to put some distance between us.
_"I'm trying to learn on Luna!"
I shake my head negatively at this answer.
_"You don't need to."
I nervously say.
_"I do! You will want to be forever with me once I know you enough!"
They answer, jumping in front of me while holding their own glove next to their helmet.
_"...sure... well, one thing you should learn fast is that I need some time alone."
_"But how can I learn things about Luna... if I'm not with you?"
_"I'm teaching you something right now!"
_"Heh... Luna doesn't know what I want to learn, do they?"
They giggle, and my face contracts in an angry expression.
_"Of course not! HOW am I supposed to figure that out?"
I say a bit louder than I wanted to. They freeze for half a second, and I slightly panic.
_"Sorry... I-"
_"You don't need to!"
They immediately answer.
_"I will learn everything for Luna, you don't need to do anything!"
I stay silent for a bit once again before turning my head away, angry at myself for even trying to understand them once again.
After a short walk that felt like one light-year, I stop in front of a metallic door labeled "Zen Zone."
The Zen Zone was before, the place where the crew was allowed to cultivate their own plants from mostly all planets. There were tons of different terrariums made to reproduce different climates, including Earthian ones, across the room. Inside, the light on the ceiling was a pleasing low-intensity light blue, making the hues coming from the different glass boxes look mythical.
I step inside, my gaze lasting a bit on each of the terrariums. I don't really know if the plants are... really still plants. Of course, when Atom arrived for the first time, they all died. Not that it made me sad. I only had one I took care of myself anyway. I was never much into plants; if I had any more, they surely would have died way before the parasite's arrival. But since I was stuck here, I took quite a liking to taking care of them. The question of whether it was Atom pretending to be them or real plants occurred to me many times, but there wasn't and still isn't any use in trying to find out the answer.
Talking about the wolf, behind me Atom started skipping instead of walking normally. I took a stop and turned in their direction, an eyebrow raised, but before letting any words out of my mouth, I stopped myself. No. No trying to understand them anymore. (Was this truly the best strategy?) I shake my head and walk to one of the terrariums. Inside, a bunch of synthetic grass, and in the middle, a forget-me-not.
I bring one of the rolling seats and sit down in front of it, my arms on the table the case was resting on.
More focused on ignoring Atom jumping on their boots behind me, soon enough annoyed, I pick a little notebook next to the glass. Inside, a bunch of notes, observations about the plant. It's truly fascinating, more than the flower itself, the way it seems so alien to me now. It doesn't seem more familiar than any of the other colorful plants in this room. Only a faint sadness tells me that I used to love them in a different way. Today, it's more of the only thing I can do without too much influence from the being curiously peeking over my shoulder.
I give a quick glance at their form. Letting the silence calm me enough to let questions fill my mind without overwhelming me. Atom frustrates me, infuriates me, in their way of always showing that I don't know anything about them when I was convinced I did. Looking back just at today, it feels like I gave up on reaching that point, but this only makes my chest feel heavier. Adapt. I need to count on this. Can't just throw away any occasion I'll get to know more... Even if I won't ever know them perfectly, to adapt I need to know what I have to adapt for. Know it as much as I can. These thoughts fill me with a new mix of emotions that I can only put as determination.
_"I love you!"
They suddenly exclaim out of nowhere. I jump on my seat, realizing I've been staring at them. I'm split between shame and surprise.
_"I... know."
I say, turning my head back to the forget-me-not.
_"You tell it... a lot."
I continue, and I can feel they want to hug me, but don't.
_"Never enough!"
They answer before sitting on the table shamelessly, slightly blocking the view of the terrarium with their arm. Annoyed, I look up at them.
_"Why do Luna spend so much time here?"
_"Where am I supposed to spend it?"
I was a bit cold once again, that's true. But getting tired of Atom's questions was pretty easy in the long run. Weirdly, they took some time to answer, while I was ready for a stupid "with me!" or something similar.
_"Luna didn't answer my question."
They add after a few seconds, slowly swinging their legs. Once again, I find myself getting nervous. Which is strange. They didn't do anything menacing, yet once again, that's not something they would have done before.
_"Well... I like plants."
I say in a bit of rush, nothing more logical popping up in my head.
_"Is it why you want to go to my planet? To see more plants?"
I'm slightly taken aback by this one. Not expecting them to talk about it so easily. And it isn't even because of the sudden change in their behavior; the subject just didn't seem like something they'd like to talk about, yet here they were.
_"I guess... yes."
_"That's AMAZING! Luna! You will see lots of things you like!"
The suit gets up on the table suddenly, making it shake a bit as they extend their arms in a grand gesture. At the same time, I jump back, gripping my notes and my chair, my eyes wide. Okay, yeah, that was new? Why were they so... energetic?
I slowly nod after a long silence. They crouch to get at my level, their helmet turned toward the flower.
_"Would you want to see more of this?"
They ask, looking at the fragile plant inside the see-through case. This time, my eyebrows raise by themselves as I slowly turn my head to look at the plant too. See more of this flower?
That's a good question.
Such a good question that, right now... I don't know how to answer it.
It's stupid, really. It's just a flower.
But...
Once again, I feel submerged by the feeling that I should say yes. I should be begging to see just once again anything from my past. But does my past really count anymore? Is it something I should leave behind?
This flower is in the present. The only memory this forget-me-not brings me is the time I spent taking care of it. The calm it brought me to have something more to do than just let Atom slowly consume me mentally. That's why I like it. But once again, it seems wrong to only see it as that, when since the very start this room was presented to us as a reminder of where we came from.
The only answer I can give Atom is a heavy sigh, and they tilt their helmet at that sound. I can feel their boiling curiosity, but if they ask, I know I won't have any answer more to give them than the ones I give myself.
_"Why are you asking?"
Answering a question with a question, a forgotten classic, I must say.
_"Why? For m-"
They stop for half a second, and I raise an eyebrow.
_"-MYSELF! Yes! I told Luna I needed to learn from now on!"
They finish, but it's never been more obvious that they meant something else. Okay. The more today passes, the more Atom seems... weird.
_"You did."
I answer.
And the silence takes back its throne, but this time it feels... uneasy. I don't feel like talking to them, but neither do I feel like focusing on the flower or on my notes. The "what's wrong with them" thought just echoes over and over again, like it doesn't have anywhere else to go but stay in my head.
Of course, the unusual part is that Atom doesn't talk either. I'm not surprised in the way I would be if it was the first weird thing that happened today. If I could even call anything "weird" at this point. But it doesn't change the fact that it's throwing me off. I stop myself from overthinking it. Instead, I make a mental note. Maybe it's something that will happen frequently from now on?
The Zen Zone, despite the low lights that haven't changed, the calming sound of the aeration that hasn't stopped, now feels like anything but a place I can relax in. And Atom's form, staring at me without moving a single bit, is not helping. I would even prefer them yapping than this.
At some point,I grow tired of the tension and push my chair back to get up,Atom doesn't say anything. Even weirder. I walk toward the exit but to my surprise, they doesn't followe me,in fact they didn't even budge since I got up. Their helmet still in the direction of where I was sat. I hesitate. Should I call them?
Swvvvsh
I jump slightly as the automatic door open in front of me, the empty corridor filling my vision, tempting me like a forbidden fruit. After the last few days where they've been constantly on my tail. It would be nice to take some time for me. Some real time for me,not to think. Just to breath.
My head turn back in the suits direction. It's still has'nt moved. I should wonder why,be alarmed. But the primary impression feeling me is the fact that this is an opportunity I should'nt miss. Even if they are gonna get up as soon as I leave the room,I want to have tried.
swwhkunk!
The door close behind me. For around 10 seconds,I hold my breath. Waiting for any kind of sounds coming from inside the room.
The door close behind me. For around 10 seconds,I hold my breath. Waiting for any kind of sounds coming from inside the room.
Nothing?
_"WOAH ?!"
I exclaim as the ship suddently shaked violently, almost making me loose my balance. A lound noise similar to an explosion accompany it,and my hearth skip a beat as i raise my head, the silence comes back but I wait for anything else to reach my ears. Nothing.
What was that?
Was the ship attacked?
Were someone here to ...save me?.
Before I could even think about it, my legs were running across the metallic floor as fast as they could.
The path I was taking was automatic, obvious. Like something I had done so many times in my dreams that every cell of my being knew what to do.
But nothing could match the speed my heart was going at.
Not even my thoughs that were racing so fast I couldn't even register most of them.
I stopped just before the corridor entered my vision range, as the thought finally reached me.
Was this the end of this nightmare?
Why did I feel... sad?
I looked back.
No footsteps followed me.
Atom wasn't there, like they were telling me that it was only up to me to make this choice.
Like they knew that they had somehow managed to make this difficult.
Way more difficult than it should have been.
I took a long breath and pushed all of those thoughts aside.
The regret was for later.
It was now or never.
I turned down the corridor and arrived in front of the airlock.
My eyes widened.
In front of the window, there was something more than the infinite sheets of void and stars.
An immense spherical mass of blue, with such a depth of colors that I don't think I could name all the shades I was seeing. It was partially covered in green, with muddy greens sometimes replaced by brown or white.
Earth?
No.
A planet.
Their planet.
Here, staring at something at least 10 feet away from the window, something filled my heart.
Something warm and cold at the same time.
But before I could identify this feeling, a detail caught my attention, and I stepped closer to the hatch.
A moving object that seemed to be going toward the planet.
Its dark grey color contrasted with the brightness of the planet.
After staring at it for a few seconds, I recognized it.
The escape pod...
Of this ship.
I swallowed slowly as an immense, devouring feeling filled my entire body, something so heavy I couldnt put a name on it.
I've been wanting to draw it SOSOSOSOSOSOS BADLY 😢
Yeah okay ❤️ ; presenting Mer!Mychael 🪷🪷!!
This was made for Patreon last year (short fic included) but now I wonder if I should've gone the traditional fish route instead hmhmm,,
Concepts for the others below if you're interested (tw fish jumpscare (100% serious)) :
By the way, here’s a reminder to 🎉 Click for Palestine!
👻 Alma would've been a gulper eel. The sketches below are still WIPs so it's not the final design but I still felt like sharing;
,,, and Atom would've been an old diving suit full of sea angels!! Instead of deep space the story would take place in the deep sea. (No concept art unfortunately </3)
What’s better than one blonde man who’s green? Two men with blonde hair that are green! Unfortunately I only drew one of them….. I might have to go back and draw Lloyd with Mycheal’s cloths but until then enjoy Mycheal in Lloyd’s Dragon Rising Gi 🫶🫶🫶
the quietness of an arranged marriage with sasuke uchiha ꒰ ୭ ˚. ᵎᵎ
the exact moment of your life when everything changed
cw: hurt/comfort, they're still teens, loneliness, signs of depression, non-sexual intimacy, happy ending, wc: 5.2k
You knew Sasuke was a quiet boy, since you were kids you remember him being too focused on his training for being so young. You could understand him having strict parents who expected too much of a twelve year old boy, but while everyone was playing, skipping or even just sitting on the ground reading, he was working on his forms and techniques.
Now, five years later, your parents just delivered the news to you. Not only you’re marrying that same quiet boy, but it’s going to be immediate and you two are moving together to an estate all by yourselves.
Why? Was the first thing that came to your head, but it was obvious: two potential clans uniting in marriage could help to evade any future problems. Thankfully, none of your parents were expecting an heir from you and him, you were kids still and the thought itself made your toes curl in fear.
The days after that talk with your parents stretched out heavily. You wandered through your family home, touching things you had known your whole life, wondering how long it would be before everything felt distant.
Sasuke. The name sat in your chest, you had watched him from afar for years, that dark haired boy who moved like the world owed him nothing but silence. He never joined the games or the easy laughter. He just trained, eyes sharp, body always pushing harder than anyone else. It made you feel small sometimes, your own childish joys were pointless next to whatever fire burned in him.
Now you were supposed to marry him. Live with him. Share a house and a life with someone whose voice you could count on one hand. The thought twisted something deep inside you, a mix of fear and fluttering curiosity that would not leave you alone. What did he think when he heard the news? Did his face stay blank the way it always did? Did his hands clench at his sides or did he simply nod, accepting his fate?
The wedding day arrived too fast. Your parents dressed you in a simple white kimono that clung to your skin in all the wrong ways, the fabric stiff and unfamiliar. They pinned flowers in your hair while you stood there quiet, heart hammering so loud you were sure everyone could hear it. No grand event, a small shrine and the necessary words to bind two clans together. You did not see Sasuke until the moment you stepped into the hall.
You walked toward him slowly, eyes fixed on the floor at first because looking up felt too real. When you finally lifted your gaze, there he was. Sasuke stood straight and still in his dark formal clothes, hair falling across his forehead the same way it always had. His expression gave nothing away. Those dark eyes watching you approach from a distance. It made your stomach drop. Was he angry? Relieved? Did he even see you as a person or just another duty?
The priest spoke the words and you repeated them with a voice that sounded too small even to your own ears. Sasuke said his part when it was time, each syllable precise but empty of warmth. You searched his face the whole time, desperate for something, anything, but he remained closed off. That silence wrapped around you like a second skin. It pressed on your chest, made your hands tremble as you exchanged the small cups of sake.
After the ceremony came the quiet ride to the estate. The carriage moved through the trees and you sat across from him, knees touching in the small space. You wanted to say something to break the heavy air between you. Maybe ask if he was okay with this. Maybe tell him you were scared too. But the words stuck in your throat.
Sasuke stared out the window most of the time, jaw set, one hand resting on his knee. Every so often his eyes would shift toward you, before going back to the passing scenery. It left you guessing, heart racing with questions that had no answers. Did he resent you for this arrangement? Did a tiny part of him feel the same nervous pull you did?
The estate was beautiful, large rooms with polished floors and sliding doors that let in soft light. Servants showed you both around quickly and then left you alone, the heavy front gate closing behind them with a final sound that echoed in your bones. Now it was just the two of you. You stood in the main room, fingers twisting in the sleeves of your kimono, watching as Sasuke walked to the window and looked out at the garden without a word.
The quiet stretched. You cleared your throat softly. “This... this is a lot, isn’t it?”
Your voice came out barely above a whisper. He did not turn around right away. When he did, his eyes met yours for a second that felt endless. He gave a small nod. “You can keep this room, I’ll stay next door.”
“Oh,” you said, even though you knew it was the best decision. There was no reason for you to stay in the same room, you weren’t going to do anything, but somehow it felt like a rejection.
Sasuke didn’t say anything back, he crossed the room and locked himself in the room in front of yours, not even taking his luggage with him.
That first night was hard. You barely sleep, your body tensing with the need to cry but nothing felt worthy enough for crying. You were seventeen, married to a boy who felt like a stranger, and the weight of his silence pressed on you more than any loud argument ever could. In the dark you reached out and touched the empty side of the futon, imagining what it might feel like if he ever let you in.
The first month dragged on, mornings started the same way every day. You would wake up in the large futon, the space beside you cold and untouched and stare at the ceiling for hours. Sasuke was gone before the sun rose most times, slipping out for training, missions or whatever kept him away from the estate. You rarely heard him leave. He moved quietly and efficiently, leaving no trace except the faint sound of the door sliding shut.
When you did catch glimpses of him, it hurt more than his absence. You would step into the kitchen for water and find him there, standing by the counter with a cup in hand. Your heart would jump, a stupid little spark of hope lighting up inside your chest. Maybe today he would look at you. But his dark eyes would flick over you for half a second, then slide away. He would finish whatever he was doing and walk past you, close enough that you could smell the faint scent of sweat and metal from his training.
That silence carved into you deeper each time. You started staying in your room more and more, the thought of walking through the empty halls made your stomach twist. What was the point? The estate was beautiful, with its wide gardens and soft light filtering through the paper screens, but it all felt like a cage now. You stopped going outside. The flowers blooming in the courtyard might as well have been gray. Everything felt tedious, heavy, even lifting your arms to brush your hair took too much effort. Meals sat cold on the tray the servants left by your door. You picked at them without tasting anything, then pushed the food away.
Loneliness settled over you, suffocating and familiar all at once. At night you lay there listening to the quiet house, wondering where Sasuke was. In his room, sharpening blades. Or maybe he was staring out at the moon, thinking about you. You replayed every small moment from your childhood in your head, trying to find some sign that he had noticed you back then. But there was nothing. He had always been focused on his own world, training until his hands bled.
You felt yourself fading. The girl who used to sneak glances at him during training, who laughed with her friends and dreamed about silly things, she was slipping away. You barely recognized the face in the mirror anymore. Your eyes looked dull, your hair hung limp because brushing it felt pointless. You stopped changing out of your sleep clothes some days. Why bother? No one was there to see you. Sasuke did not care. Your parents were far away, busy with their alliances and their plans. It was just you and the crushing weight of his indifference.
One afternoon you forced yourself to the main room, hoping maybe he would be there. You found him instead by the window again, back turned to you as he cleaned his kunai. Your throat tightened. You wanted to scream at him, to ask why he never spoke, why he acted like you did not exist.
The words burned on your tongue but stayed trapped there. What if he confirmed it? What if he said out loud that this marriage meant nothing to him? The fear of that answer kept you frozen. So you stood there in the doorway, watching the way his shoulders moved, the sharp line of his jaw and felt a familiar ache bloom in your chest. A mix of longing and resentment with warmth that refused to die no matter how much his silence hurt.
You retreated back to your room without a word. Curled up on the futon, you pressed your face into the pillow and let the tears come quietly. They soaked the fabric but made no sound, the last thing you wanted was him to hear you. Not that he would come check anyway. The days blurred together after that. You lost track of time, sleeping during the day and lying awake at night, replaying the wedding ceremony in your mind.
You felt lost, everything you used to enjoy felt distant now. Reading made your eyes hurt and thinking about the future filled you with dread. You were seventeen, married to a boy who was a stranger, living in a beautiful prison where the loudest thing was the silence between you. And through it all, Sasuke remained unknowable. You never knew what he was thinking behind those dark eyes.
The night air felt cooler than usual, you had slipped out to the porch hours ago, unable to stay curled up in your room any longer. The walls had started closing in again, pressing down with all the emptiness of the past month. So you sat there on the wooden edge, knees drawn up to your chest, the thin fabric of your sleep robe clinging to your skin. Tears came without warning, spilling over as the weight of everything crashed down.
You did not hear him approach, Sasuke moved too quietly for that. But suddenly there was a presence behind you, a shift in the air that made the hairs on your neck stand up. You kept your head down, refusing to look. Let him see. Let him walk away like always.
“What are you doing out here?”
You did not answer, instead you wiped at your cheeks roughly, staring out at the dark garden where fireflies flickered. Ignoring him felt like the only power you had left in this house. He had ignored you for weeks, now it was your turn, even if it made your chest ache worse.
Sasuke lingered there, you could feel his gaze on your back. “It’s late,” he said finally. Always so damn quiet. “You should go inside.”
That was it? After all the days of nothing, that was what he chose to say? Something inside you twisted, you turned your head just enough to glance at him over your shoulder. He stood a few feet away, arms crossed loosely, his expression gave away nothing.
You looked away again, hugging your knees tighter. “Why do you care?” Your voice came out softer than you meant.
He did not respond right away. You heard him shift his weight, the faint rustle of his clothes. When he spoke again, it was even lower. “You’re my wife.”
“It does not feel like it.” You still wouldn’t face him fully
You could sense him processing your words, but who knew what was really going on behind those dark eyes? Did he feel guilty? Annoyed that you were forcing this conversation? Or did it mean nothing to him, just another inconvenience in his focused life?
“I did not ask for this either,” he said after a long pause. His tone stayed flat, but there was something underneath it. Or maybe you were imagining it because you needed to believe he felt something.
You swallowed hard, fresh tears burning your eyes. “Why do you act like I do not exist? I sit in that room every day wondering if you hate me for this arrangement, or if you just... do not care enough to even look at me.” Your voice cracked on the last part, but you kept it quiet. “I feel like I am disappearing, Sasuke.”
He took another step closer now. You could see his hand at his side, fingers flexing once before stilling. “I train. I have duties. That has not changed.”
“You think I do not know that?” You finally turned to face him, eyes red and swollen, cheeks wet. “You always trained as a kid, I admired it back then. But now I cry out here alone because the quiet in this house is too loud, and you finally show up just to ask what I am doing? Like it is some inconvenience.”
Sasuke’s jaw tightened just a fraction, his eyes met yours for a longer moment than usual, holding secrets you could not read. “What do you want me to say?” he asked, voice rough. “That this is easy? That I know how to do this? I do not.”
The admission hung between you, it was not much, but it was more than he had given in weeks. Yet it was not enough. Not when the loneliness had already carved so deep. You wanted to reach out, to touch his arm or demand he look at you properly, but the fear of him pulling away kept your hands still.
“I want you to see me,” you whispered, turning back toward the garden. "That’s all.”
But then his voice came, low and raw in a way you had never heard before. It cracked just a little at the edges. “I see you. And I see someone who deserves more than this. I see someone whose life I’ve ruined.”
The words caught you unexpectedly, your breath caught and for a moment the whole world narrowed to the need and sudden desperation of his voice. He thought he had ruined you. Your mind spun with it all, the ache in his tone mixing with the loneliness that had been eating at you for weeks. You wanted to turn around, to look at his face and try to understand what that meant to him, but you could not. Your eyes burned fresh with tears and your throat closed up tight. Speechless. Completely speechless. The weight of what he admitted pressed down so hard that you could not even form a reply.
Instead you pushed yourself up on shaky legs, not glancing back at him. You walked away from the porch, feet moving almost on their own through the sliding doors and down the hall to your room. The floorboards creaked softly under you but you barely noticed. All you could hear was his voice repeating in your head. He saw you, he thought he had ruined your life.
What did that even mean coming from someone like Sasuke, who never showed his thoughts? You closed the door behind you and leaned against it, sliding down until you were sitting on the floor with your face in your hands.
You stayed in your room for the next week and he stayed away too. It was like both of you were ghosts haunting the same house but never crossing paths. Sleep came in broken pieces, filled with dreams of his dark eyes watching you from a distance. During the day you sat by your window sometimes, staring at the garden without really seeing it.
The loneliness had not gone away. He made everything more confusing. He saw you as someone ruined by this marriage, by him. Did that mean he cared enough to feel bad? You never knew with Sasuke. His silence had always done that to you, leaving you to fill in the blanks with your own tangled emotions.
Then one night, close to midnight, a soft knock sounded on your door. You sat up in the futon, heart suddenly racing. No one knocked at this hour. You stayed quiet at first, unsure, but the knock came again, gentle but there. Slowly you got up and padded over, sliding the door open just a crack.
Sasuke was there. On his knees.
He knelt right in the doorway, head slightly bowed, dark hair falling forward to hide most of his expression. His shoulders were tense, hands resting on his thighs, the sight of him like that, the proud and quiet Sasuke on his knees in front of your room, made something inside your chest crack wide open.
He did not look up right away. Your mind raced with questions. He was so close, yet still so unknowable.
“I…” He stayed on his knees, not moving to stand. You watched the subtle rise and fall of his shoulders, wondering what thoughts were hidden behind those lowered eyes. After all the days of nothing, this gesture felt huge and terrifying at the same time.
Now here he was, kneeling as if waiting for judgment. And you still did not know what he was truly thinking, only that his silence had shaped every feeling you carried for him since you were kids. The quiet boy who trained alone had grown into this man who could break your heart with a few raw words and a single gesture in the dark.
For a long moment nothing happened. The silence stretched between you again, the same heavy quiet that had defined every day of this marriage. Then his shoulders started to tremble.
Just a slight shake that you almost missed in the dim light. But then his breathing hitched and when he finally lifted his head to look at you, his dark eyes were glassy with tears. He was crying. Right there on his knees in your doorway, tears slipping down his cheeks one after another. His jaw clenched hard like he was fighting it, but it only made the tears fall faster. His hands fisted on his thighs, knuckles white and a broken sound escaped his throat.
“I... I’m sorry,” he whispered. The words came out messy, stumbling over each other after he had held them in for too long. “Forgive me. Please. I ruined everything for you. I’ve seen it every day in how you hide away, in the way you look at me like I’m already gone.”
He kept going, the tears streaming freely now, cutting tracks down his face. His usual mask had shattered completely. Sasuke looked like a complete mess, shoulders hunched forward, dark hair sticking to his wet cheeks. He did not wipe the tears away.
“I never wanted this for you. You were always there. I saw you when we were younger sometimes, reading under the trees while I trained. I noticed. But I did not know how to... I still do not know how. This marriage, this house, it trapped you with someone who only knows how to push people away.”
Your heart pounded so hard it echoed in your ears. All those nights you had cried alone, wondering if he even thought about you. All the times he had walked past without a word. And now here he was, falling apart in front of you. His silence had always left you guessing, and even in this moment part of you wondered if this was guilt talking. But the tears on his face looked honest. Painfully so.
“I want to take care of you,” he continued, voice rough with emotion. “If you’ll let me. I don’t deserve it. I know I don’t. But every day I have stayed away because I thought it would be better for you. I was wrong, I see that now. You deserve more than an empty house and a husband who hides. Let me try. Please.”
He bowed his head again after that, forehead nearly touching the floor in front of your feet. His back shook with silent sobs that he tried to hold back, but they slipped through anyway. The sight of it made fresh tears burn in your own eyes. You wanted to reach out and touch his hair, to pull him up and tell him it was okay. But your legs felt weak and your throat was too tight. Part of you still ached from all the days he had ignored you, from feeling like you were disappearing in this beautiful prison. Another part felt a rush of warmth at his words, at the way he had finally cracked open even a little. You had spent so long wondering what was in his head. Now some of it was spilling out and it left you speechless all over again.
“Come inside,” you whispered finally.
You stepped back and slid the door open wider. Sasuke lifted his head slowly, eyes red and glistening, searching your face like he was afraid you might change your mind. He rose to his feet on unsteady legs and followed you into the room. The door closed softly behind him with a sound that sealed the two of you in this small space filled with all the loneliness and confusion of the past month.
Both of you were still dressed in your day clothes. Yours were rumpled from hiding away, his carried the faint scent of the night air and training. You moved first, hesitant but sure, reaching for the ties of his outer robe. Your fingers trembled a little as you loosened them, helping him shrug it off his shoulders. He did not stop you. Sasuke just stood there, letting you peel away the layers with careful hands. It was intimate in a way that made your cheeks warm, it felt like tending to something wounded. You didn’t say anything about his bruises or scars.
He returned the favor after a moment, his calloused fingers working gently at the sash of your robe. His touch was light, scared to break you further. You helped each other in silence, folding the clothes neatly and setting them aside. Underneath you both wore simple sleeping garments, nothing fancy, the soft fabric that made the moment feel even more real. Skin brushed skin accidentally, a shoulder here, a wrist there, sending small shivers through you each time. You kept your eyes mostly down, focusing on the task, but every so often you caught glimpses of his face. The tear tracks on his cheeks, the way his jaw stayed tight like he was still holding back. You wondered what was going through his mind right then.
Once you were both changed, you turned to him fully. Sasuke looked smaller somehow in the light of the room, his eyes still wet and raw. You picked up a clean cloth from the side table, stepping close enough to feel the warmth radiating from him. Gently, so gently, you pressed it to his face and dried his tears. His breath hitched when the cloth touched his cheek, but he stayed still, letting you wipe away the evidence of his breakdown. Up close like this, you could see every detail: the faint redness around his eyes, how his lashes were clumped together, the exhaustion etched into his features. It made your own eyes sting again.
“There,” you whispered, voice soft as you set the cloth aside. Your hand lingered near his face for a second before dropping. “Lay down with me.”
You took his hand, surprised at how warm his fingers felt against yours, and guided him toward the futon. He followed without resistance, the two of you settling down side by side on the bedding.
You turned on your side to face him, pulling the blanket over both of you. Sasuke lay on his back at first, staring up at the ceiling, but then he shifted too, mirroring you. His dark eyes met yours, still guarded but softer than before. You could not read him completely. You never could.
“Tell me," you said quietly, not demanding but needing it. “Talk to me, Sasuke. About anything. I need to hear you.”
Your hand rested on the space between you, close enough that he could take it if he wanted. The intimacy of changing together still hummed under your skin, not passionate but real and tender.
He stayed quiet for a long moment, this time it felt like he was gathering words instead of hiding behind them. His fingers brushed yours lightly, almost by accident, and you held your breath waiting to see what he would say next.
“I stayed away because it was easier,” he said, each word took effort. “I thought if I kept my distance you could have the house to yourself. Pretend I was not here ruining your days. I never wanted a wife. Not like this. Not when we are both still so young.”
You swallowed hard, the loneliness from the past month rising up again but softer now. “It didn’t feel like distance. It felt like I didn’t exist to you.”
Sasuke’s brow furrowed slightly. He shifted a little closer under the blanket, his knee brushing yours accidentally.
“I noticed you back then,” he admitted quietly. “You looked free in a way I never was. This marriage took that from you. I hate it. I hate that our clans decided this for us and I couldn’t stop it.”
You could tell it was hard for him to say them out loud.
“I never blamed you for the arrangement,” you whispered back. “But the silence broke me, Sasuke. I kept wondering if you even saw me as a person and not just another duty.”
He reached out then and his fingers wrapped around yours properly. “I saw you. Every day. I just didn’t know how to show it without making things worse. I’m not good at this. But I want to try for you. I meant what I said. I want to take care of you. If you’ll let me start over, even just a little.”
You squeezed his hand, feeling some of the heavy weight in your chest loosen, you knew his quiet nature would not vanish overnight. But hearing him say it, seeing the way his eyes stayed on yours instead of sliding away, it felt like the first real breath you had taken in weeks.
“I want that too,” you told him. “I don’t need you to be loud or different. Be here sometimes. Eat with me. Talk to me even if it’s only a few words. Let me see the boy who trained so hard instead of the ghost who lives in this house.”
Sasuke nodded slowly, his thumb brushing over the back of your hand. “I can do that. Tomorrow I will not leave before you wake. We can walk in the garden if you want. Or just sit. Whatever you need.”
You moved a little closer without thinking, resting your forehead against his shoulder. He tensed for half a second, but then he relaxed and let his free arm come around you loosely. It was awkward and careful, two kids still figuring out how to be married, but it was something.
“I’ll forgive you,” you whispered against his shirt. “But you have to forgive yourself too. We are both stuck in this,we don’t have to be alone in it.”
He didn’t answer with words right away, he just held you a bit tighter. He whispered something so low that even you weren’t able to catch it.
Sleep came easier than it had in weeks, wrapped in the warmth of his presence. Sasuke stayed right there beside you, his hand still linked with yours. It was not perfect. Nothing with Sasuke ever would be simple. But it was a start, and that little bit of healing felt like everything after so many days of fading away. In the morning you would see what happened next, but for now you let yourself believe that maybe the quiet boy you had watched for years could learn to share his silence with you.
His fingers traced lazy circles on your back through the thin fabric of your sleep clothes, a small gesture that still surprised you sometimes. Sasuke had always been so quiet, so contained, but these past few months he had been trying. Little by little. He ate breakfast with you now, sitting across the table even when words didn’t come easily. He walked with you in the garden some evenings, pointing out a bird or a blooming flower with just a few short sentences that meant more because they came from him.
“What did you do today?” he asked softly, his arm heavy around your waist and his chin resting on the top of your head.
“Not much, went to buy some groceries for dinner. It’s been a while since I haven't cooked,” you purred, your breath tickling his neck.
Sasuke hummed quietly. “I’ll help you. Later.”
You smiled softly and shifted closer, your leg sliding over his as you tangled together even more. Your hand came up to rest on his chest, feeling the strong beat of his heart under your palm.
“Did you train hard?” You drew little patterns in his chest waiting for his answer, he just held you tightly, wanted to melt into you.
“Very,” he muttered, closing his eyes and inhaling your sweet scent.
You pressed a gentle kiss to the side of his neck, feeling the way his body relaxed even more against yours. These moments had become your favorite, when the weight of the day melted away and it was just the two of you sharing the same space without any walls left between you.
Sasuke lowered himself so he could be at eye level with you, you always get lost in his dark and big eyes, with that shine they have when they look at you.
“You’re beautiful,” Sasuke whispered, one of his hands coming to your cheek, he was trying hard not to blush. “What did I do to deserve you?”
You smiled, leaning into his touch. “I don’t want someone else, Sasuke. I love how you look at me,” you told him quietly. “Like I am something worth protecting.”
“You are,” he answered simply, kissing the tip of your nose before finding your lips.
His quiet nature still wrapped around everything, but it no longer pushed you away. In the warmth of the bed, with his body curled around yours and his kisses growing sweeter with every passing minute, you felt truly married to him. Not just on paper, but in the tender ways that mattered most.
a/n: it's been a while since i don't sit myself to write a long-ish fic. i'm very very happy about how this turned out
Damian loves his weird arty partner more than he’d like to admit.
For my 1k event ◞ DC masterlist ◞ For this request!
The art studio smelled like turpentine, fresh paint, and the faint vanilla of the candle you always lit when you worked late.
You were a mess — as usual. Paint smeared across your cheek, charcoal on your fingers, oversized overalls covered in colorful splatters. Your hair was tied up with a pencil, and you were humming off-key while adding the final touches to a large canvas that had taken over three easels.
You didn’t hear the door open.
Damian Wayne stepped inside quietly, arms crossed, green eyes scanning the chaos you called “organised creativity.” He was in his usual dark clothes — crisp button-down, slacks, looking far too put-together for the mess of an art studio at 11pm.
He stopped a few feet away, watching you with that familiar mix of exasperation and fondness he only ever showed you.
“You’re going to get paint in your hair again,” he said dryly.
You jumped, nearly knocking over a jar of brushes. “Damian! You scared me.”
He raised an eyebrow. “You left the door unlocked. Again. In Gotham. At night.”
You grinned, wiping your hands on your overalls. “I knew you’d come find me eventually. You always do when I work too late.”
He huffed, but the corner of his mouth twitched. He crossed the room and stopped in front of your canvas, studying it with the same intense focus he gave everything.
“It’s… not terrible,” he said after a moment.
You laughed. “High praise from the great Damian Wayne.”
He turned to you, eyes softening as he took in your paint-splattered face. Without a word, he reached out and gently wiped a streak of blue from your cheek with his thumb. The touch was surprisingly tender.
“You’re a disaster,” he muttered, but his voice was warm. “How do you function like this?”
You leaned into his hand, smiling. “I function because you keep showing up to remind me to eat and sleep and not burn the studio down.”
He rolled his eyes, but he didn’t pull away. Instead, he stepped closer, hands settling on your waist as he looked down at you.
“You’re going to be the death of me,” he said quietly. “Running around covered in paint like some chaotic muse. Making me worry every time you stay here past midnight.”
You tilted your head up, grinning. “But you like it. Admit it.”
Damian’s ears went faintly pink. He looked away for half a second, then back at you with that rare, soft smile he saved only for you.
“I like you,” he corrected. “Even when you’re a walking paint palette.”
You laughed, wrapping your arms around his neck. He pulled you closer, careful not to get paint on his clothes, and kissed you — slow and sweet, like he’d been waiting all day for this moment.
When he pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours. “Come home with me. I’ll make you tea. And you can shower before you track paint all over my floors.”
You smiled, brushing your nose against his. “Only if you let me draw you again. You make a very good model when you’re not scowling.”
He huffed, but his arms tightened around you. “Only for you.”
The two of you left the studio hand in hand, the city lights of Gotham twinkling far below. Damian Wayne — the serious, disciplined son of Bruce Wayne — walked beside the messy art student who somehow made his carefully ordered world feel brighter.
And for once, he didn’t mind the paint on his shirt when you hugged him goodbye at the door.
Because with you, even the mess felt like home.
