“Hard to believe when you’re from a family of liars.” Ray watched the Maybank kid, the boy’s cheeks were flushed, his eyes had that hazy look and he spoke slower than usual; he was drunk, that much was true. But that didn’t mean anything he said was.

“I’m asking you again.” He narrowed his eyes as he moved his face closer to the boy’s, and his voice turned into a dark whisper, “and you better tell the truth.”

From an outsider’s perspective this might have seemed like a very intimate conversation – or even more –  the two were having, standing so close to each other, and around them other young people: talking, dancing, making out, enjoying themselves at the bonfire they were having at the beach.

Ray didn’t touch the blond, but he was so close, the boy could probably physically feel his anger.

“Who took the bag? Don’t say you don’t know. Tell me who.”

“But please don’t stay because you think you have to,” she replied in a soft voice, part of her fearing that that was the case. Louisa didn’t want to be a burden. But she didn’t want to be alone right now. She didn’t want to sit here and wait on her own. Maybe because then she would have to realize that there was no point in waiting any longer, that she should give up, should have given up a while ago. Maybe, just maybe, if Evan stayed, this could mean that it wasn’t pointless. Like there was still hope.

And then there was another thing, the blond boy’s presence made her feel calm and comfortable. – Part of her told her that she shouldn’t feel comfortable right now, and her inner voice started arguing with her, when she realized that Evan was still there.

She looked up at him, then moved a little, so he could sit down next to her, if he wanted to.

concepts.

trace. sender is much closer to receiver than usual and notices something different and gently traces their finger along that part of reciever's face. (beauty mark, scar, dimples, etc.)

couch. sender and receiver wake up after accidentally napping on the couch together.

floor. for whatever reason, sender and receiver choose not to share the same bed or couch. one party takes the floor and both keep striking up conversation, whether it is bickering or heartfelt.

twin bed. sender and receiver share a twin bed, likely too small for them and causing them to be closer than usual.

small space. sender and receiver have to hide in a closet or locker that hardly has anyroom for them. they're hiding from something or someone, but they can't help but to notice the way the other's heartbeat.

concepts.

run away love. sender proposes that they and receiver run away together so they can be together at last, since their current situation keeps them apart.

dancing in the rain. sender and receiver are having an dancing out in the open when it begins to rain. the initial shock turns to laughter and a soft moment in which they choose to continue their dance rather than let it end.

love letter. sender leaves a handwritten letter for receiver, professing their true feelings for receiver once and for all.

4 am. receiver wakes up to the sent of something baking in the oven at 4 am. by the time they reach the kitchen and see what sender is up to, they realize sender could use some help finishing their baking project and the pair take it on together.

sweater weather. sender notices receiver is wearing something too light for the current temperature and removes their sweater just to wrap receiver carefully and provide them warmth.

Olivia didn't want to go, it was bad enough the abuse she faced at home but to be sold to pay for her father's debt. She was told that she had to do anything the man wanted, that she was to please him because if she didn't then she would be punished.

She wanted to run and hide as she looked up at the man whose anger could rival her father's. She opened her mouth to answer him but no words came out. It was hard for her to speak around anyone that wasn't her brother and she spoke out of fear with her father.

A small squeal left her as he roughly grabbed her arm and pulled her inside the home. She was ready for the worst.

Ray shut the door. He didn’t bother to lock it – why should she run? She came on her own, sent by her own father, she had nowhere to run to.

He ushered her into his living room. While she stood in the middle of it, he walked around her, like some predator circling his prey.

“What am I supposed to do with you, huh?” His eyes wandered over her body. “You can’t lift anything with those thin arms.” He gripped her wrist and pulled her arm up suddenly, so high she had to stand on her toes. “You can’t work in the shop. You got no skills with cars. Nor can I send you out to collect my money.”

Still holding up her arm, his other hand gripped her chin, glaring at her face. It was a pretty face, those large eyes wide with fear. “What can you do? Hm? Open your goddamn mouth and answer me!”

Ship Headcanons: Trick Kennedy and Ray Young ( @klldare )

This started fully from a fight that turned to a hate fuck. Like Trick ran his mouth off too much and it became a "you can mouth off but you'll be begging for me by the time we're done." Situation. Trick lost. And continues to lose that battle every time.

Trick learned early that his usual 'raptor testing the fence' to see what was allowed and what wasn't didnt work as well, and learned the short leash he had pretty quickly, then adjusted accordingly. He's still very much the raccoon, you can't take that out of him, but, he challenges Ray much less than at the start.

Im not sure either one knows when it went from "he's a guy that I fuck sometimes" to "that ones mine, hands and eyes off." But the switch happened. And they are serious about it.

Speaking of that, Trick's jealous streak does in fact exist, and he's not above acting a little out of line to prove that. And has fully accepted the consequences of doing so.

He does try not to flip that switch on Ray though, he does enjoy seeing that man get rough but, he'd rather not make it worse.

Even in all the roughness, there's still softness. Trick is very attached to this man, and he likes to think the same goes for Ray.

Even into the In between stage where there was something more going on but no one really knew? There's the slight game of how close can they get / how much tension between them can people see and not question, and its a stare from both of them that quickly shuts that convo down.

While he doesn't quite do the Beckett Knight Method of sitting at Ray's feet in that owned / guard dog position, he his his own way of doing that.

I feel like theyre very touch possessive in a way? And I also feel like any marks that have been placed are certainly shown.

The Raccoon isnt leaving this man alone anytime soon, sorry Ray. No taksey backsies.

Ray turned his head towards the boy in the passenger's seat.

"That's no excuse." His expression seemingly indifferent, but when he turns to face the road ahead again, his mouth twitches.

He shifts the gear, then his right hand moves to unbuckle Trick's seatbelt, before he unzips his own jeans, pushes down his shorts and without any delay, he grabs the boy by the back of the neck and pulls his face down to his crotch.

He didn't need to have to understand the subtext of that phrase, the energy behind it was in the tone used, and that, that gave him pause. how exactly did he weasel out of this one, though he had actually done nothing wrong? just spoken to the man about work.

"Park Ranger," Trick clarified first, hoping to curtail the discussion about him speaking to a cop. there was a difference, something which they all would be eager to explain. he moved closer to Ray now, seeing if the shift and subtle movement of who he'd clearly be leaving with would be enough to help ease it back, " Ray, this is Dustin. helped me a little while ago with some stuff last time I was out at the preserve. was just giving me some updates on it, that's all. Dustin, this is Ray."

how did one explain exactly what they were to someone from the outside looking in? ownership felt too harsh, but they weren't nothing either. he still belonged to Ray, that much was very evident from the bruises and marks across his body, but he also didn't want to put words in the older boy's mouth.

Ray lifted an eyebrow at that piece of information. The frown on his brow didn’t ease. Not even when the younger boy moved to stand closer by his side.

The park ranger, Dustin – he scoffed at the mention of that name – extended his hand, but Ray didn’t even look at it. In fact, he didn’t even look at the guy for longer than two seconds and then turned his body sideways to face Trick. His hazel eyes darkened as he glared down at the boy.

“You got enough updates now or you still need some more help, hm?” He didn’t wait for the answer but grabbed the boy by the shoulder to drag him away from the ranger, who was saying something which Ray ignored. His whole focus was on Trick – when he suddenly felt something touch his shoulder. Whether the guy was just touching it to get his attention or actually trying to stop him physically from leaving with the boy, he did not care or wait long enough to find out what the man wanted. He quickly spun round and his fist hit the park ranger’s chin, hard enough to make him stumble backwards.

The man was obviously surprised by the sudden act of violence, but before he could react in any other way than with that surprised look, Ray landed another punch. And another and another.

In a matter of seconds, he was on top of the man, pummeling his face mercilessly.

Oh, if he knew his brother wasn't late. He was a no show. The correction at the tip of his tongue as getting mixed up wasn't unusual, especially when Evan hadn't said a thing yet and JJ wasn't here to present the visual differences between them, albeit minimal. Yet he believed to see Ray catch on, which was proven when the questions were asked. "No, um," he cleared his throat. "I'm here to tell you JJ isn't going to make it. I would've texted you, but I don't have your number and I currently can't get a hold of my brother. I'm sorry whichever inconveniences it causes you." He sounded unnecessary breathless by the end of his explanation. Chest tight from the nervousness as he wasn't sure how the other male was going to react and well, the shady people his brother tended to get acquainted with always intimidated Evan.

“You’re sorry for the inconvenience, huh?” Shaking his head he almost chuckled at that word. He licked his lips and his expression no longer showed any signs of amusement. “So, your brother is a no show.” It wasn’t a question. “And sends you to what? Repeatedly tell me how damn sorry you are? What am I gonna do with your damn sorries, huh? How’s that gonna help me in any way?”

Ray had taken a few steps towards the blond, stopped about two feet in front of him. He looked at the Maybank kid as if expecting an answer – up close it was obvious that this wasn’t JJ, it wasn’t so much any differences in how they looked but more in how they appeared.

“You,” Ray finally said, pointing his index finger at the blond, “you’re gonna take your brother’s place.” Not a question.
