disabled women of color are capable and deserve to be recognized and respected
these images say:
This astrophysicist lost her sight, so she listened to the stars and made a scientific breakthrough. As a kid in Puerto Rico, Wanda Diaz-Merced dreamt of being an astronaut. She earned a doctoral degree in astrophysics. But a long illness left her blind and threatened her studies. Determined not to give up, she realized she could turn data points into sound. Through sonification, Diaz-Merced was able to pursue a career in astrophysics. By listening to the behavior of stars, she began noticing things no one could see, or hear, before. Diaz-Merced linked star formation to gamma ray bursts - a new idea in astrophysics. Her work has helped astrophysicists consider sound as a new way of analyzing stars.
“If people with disabilities are allowed into the scientific field, an explosion, a huge titanic burst of knowledge will take place.” - Wanda Diaz-Merced, astrophysicist

🐝 BEE MOVIE; STARTER SENTENCES. 🐝
❛ Ya like jazz? ❜
❛ How about a suicide pact? ❜
❛ According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. ❜
❛ I was already a bloodsucking parasite. All I needed was a briefcase! ❜
❛ You can just freeze live TV? That’s insane. ❜
❛ This sweater is Ralph Lauren, and I have no pants. ❜
❛ WHEN WILL THIS NIGHTMARE END? ❜
❛ And you’ll be happy to know that bees as a species haven’t had a day off in 27 billion years. ❜
❛ Three days of grade school, three days of high school. ❜
❛ How do we know this isn’t some kind of holographic, motion-picture-capture Hollywood wizardry? They could be using laser beams! Robotics! Ventriloquism! Clones! ❜
❛ We’re very proud of you, son, and a perfect report card; all B’s! ❜
❛ So you’ll just work us to death? ❜
❛ This is your queen? That’s a guy in women’s clothes! ❜
❛ I don’t remember the sun having a big 75 on it. ❜
❛ My only interest is flowers. ❜
❛ He’s no goodfella, He’s a BADfella! ❜
❛ Will some angel of mercy come crawl to suck the poison from my heaving buttocks? ❜
❛ WHY IS YOGURT NIGHT SO DIFFICULT? ❜
❛ I tried talking to these guys, and then there was a dustbuster, a toupee and a liferaft exploded… now one’s bald, one’s in a boat, and they’re both unconscious! ❜
❛ No flying in the house! ❜
❛ I know it’s got an aftertaste! I like it! ❜
❛ Yellow-black, yellow-black, yellow-black, yellow-black… Oh, black and yellow. Yeah, let’s shake it up a little. ❜
❛ Stand back! These are winter boots! ❜
❛ Mamma mia! That’s a lot of pages. ❜
❛ Am I coo-coo-kachoo, or is that plane flying in an insect-like pattern? ❜
❛ BEE!❜
❛ It’s very hard to concentrate with that panicky tone in your voice. ❜
❛ Look at these faces. They never knew what hit them and now they’re on the road to nowhere. ❜
❛ In tennis, you attack at the point of weakness! ❜
❛ Yes, but who can deny the heart that is yearning? ❜

Change the Conversation
Things you don’t have to say about abortion:
We all want there to be fewer abortions.*
“Safe, legal and rare.”*
It’s a regrettable choice, but one people need to be able make.
It’s one of the most difficult decisions a person will ever make.
Sure, some people do it for the wrong reasons, but most people do it for the right ones.
*You may feel this way, and that’s fine. But you don’t have to feel this way and you don’t have to pretend to.
Things you should say about abortion:
It’s a safe, legal and quite common procedure.
It’s nothing to be ashamed of.
For some it’s a difficult decision, but not for everybody.
99% of people who get abortions don’t regret it.
There are no right or wrong reasons to get an abortion. It’s a matter of personal choice.
The way to change policy is to change culture, and you change culture by changing the conversation. Abortion isn’t regrettable, it isn’t shameful, it isn’t wrong. Abortion improves lives. It saves lives. It makes people better parents. It gives people bodily autonomy. Abortion is good.
