a 12 year old boy at work today made a clay snail and was painting it all black and i VERY JOKINGLY asked ‘haha are you making a goth snail’ 

he proceeded to go into a fully-fleshed out backstory about how his snail was conceived by satan, had the power to eat child souls, was named after oscar from sesame street, lives permanently covered in black eye liner and how this. this tiny clay snail was the only one who survived the thanos snap 

it killed me. i was doubled over and crying and i literally had to give this kid candy to stop talking about it

This is actually done for legal reasons. If Chad was excluded from the will entirely, he could make the case that he was supposed to be included but was forgotten, and get a big chunk of the estate. By explicitly giving him $1, it shows he wasn’t forgotten so he doesnt have a case.

not to be like “oh my psychology teacher said blah blah” but in my psychology class, we are learning about classical conditioning and pavlov’s dogs. and you can, of course, become conditioned to associate a stimulus (your favorite band/show) with another stimulus (your former friend/ex). but the thing is, when you keep interacting with the former stimulus with the latter, then a process called “extinction” happens, where you stop associating the stimuli when it keeps occurring without the other. so, this process of reclamation actually has a scientific basis!
