There's an "unpopular hot take opinion on tbhx" going on Twitter, and, not to be rude, but wtf, people? Most of the things people are claiming are just... wrong? Not in a "your opinion is wrong because i don't like it" but in a "it's wrong because the fucking text is there and you are ignoring it."
Some of the things I'm seeing:
"It's full of plot holes; the timeline is fucked up."
Welcome to season 1 of a show. Shocking, I know. Plots are unfinished, truths are not shared... this was the prologue. The introduction. Of course there are missing bits
Time line thing... idk?? Play attention??? Most arcs tell you the year?? Details on the background????? It's not that hard????????????
"Queen arc is misogynistic."
Queen is a narrative pawn in the hands of men. Of course her arc is. She wanted to create more female heroes; congratulations, she did it. But it has a price: the narrative of woman as hero is still controlled by the men in power, who are going to push the woman vs woman narrative, forcing things like Bowa vs Queen fight that is VERY male gaze. BECAUSE IT'S WRITTEN BY MEN, HER BOSS AND HER FATHER
"Ewwww so cringe how Jhonny acts. He's almost 30!"
Being a corporate puppet since the age of 9 makes you maintain your public persona 24/7, even close to your friends, you know? He only drops the act when he's 100% alone. Disney kid, be glad the guy is not doing lines in a bathroom, for God's sake. I don't think he even knows how to act non-cute in front of people.
LJ first motivation at age 9 was REVENGE AND KILLING A MAN. And the world took that chance from him and now he has 0 motivation, depresion and only taking care of BJ keeps him afloat, I think he's one of the characters in line for a pretty bad breakdown
All the npc/extra/side kicks deads
WELCOME TO THE CONCEPT OF PAWNS USED BY A BIGGER SYSTEM
Moon: You get out? You die
Smile: we find a better use for you now. We don't want you/you fit a better narrative? We do that!!!
No one can escape the system; no one can escape the big bad wolf that is ✨capitalism✨
"Lucky Cian's arc is about being free and she ends up trapped again"
In Spanish we have a saying: "From Guatemala to Guatepeor" (from bad to worse). An arc not having a good ending for the character IS NOT A BAD ARC OR LACKING SENSE. IT MAKES SENSE, SEASON 1 PEOPLE. SEASON 1. NO ONE IS IN A FUCKING RIGHT PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and I'm sure there was more but.... people... it's not that hard. I know life has fucked up our brains and atention spans, but nothing needs to be wrapped in 24 eps. Endings don't have to be good and nice for the charactes. Bad shit can happen. And that's okay. That's part of the narrative
I know I’m late but do you guys like my my immortal cake 🥺
I thought about this a while back...

Dragon boy & Safety.
I don’t think people who assume Dragon Boy(might use Liang Long just cause it’s easier to type) joined Yan Mo and is happily going along with him understand his character, even saying he wasn’t manipulated and groomed.
Liang Long is a victim who grew comfortable in his abuse. He’s not going to argue or be upset like many other victims portrayed in media, and that sets the idea that he’s doing this of his will and enjoyment, but that’s not what’s happening.
I think we have to start with what Yan Mo promised Liang Long and Liang Long’s description of what he means by trash.
I’ve seen some people think he means ALL people or bad people, and while bad people isn’t inherently wrong it’s still too ambiguous.
We are told upright just by his character sheet that all people aren’t trash to him, he helps children cross the road and participates in volunteer work, it’s clear just by that that Liang Long is someone who cares, about people—and since it’s not clarified what volunteer work—it can be assumed he does all sorts of different community service, so someone who cares for the environment as well.
Bad people, as I said, is too ambiguous in my opinion, not giving a good view of who he thinks as bad people, we don’t know the criteria, but there is something I would think of as a better descriptor:
Dangerous people.
We’ve seen Liang Long call quite a few people trash, in every scenario being in a fight(I say as though we’ve seen him out of a fight before) with the only one exception—the first he ever saw as trash—his parents as they leave him to drown.
Each of these occasions happen when Liang Long is or was in danger, even if we don’t know the context of the PV we know they were criminals, who didn’t seem to be implied as simple robbers. They had weapons and masks and nothing else, it’s very easy to assume they were or were planning to attack someone.
Liang Long views someone who’s willing to hurt someone—including himself—as someone who is trash and needs to be cleaned up. What Yan Mo essentially promised to Liang Long is that he will have the power to get rid of dangerous people if he becomes Zero, if he becomes Zero, he and other people will be safe.
That’s even in his power. Liang Long will get more powerful the more hits he takes, so he always makes sure to start on the defence, never making the first move. He makes sure he stays in a position of self-defence, till he’s able to eliminate the threat.
Yan Mo promised eventual safety to an abuse victim if that abuse victim follows through with what he says. He tells that victim that he will go through more pain and—as long as he can handle it—he will become strong enough to be safe.
Liang Long doesn’t enjoy working with Yan Mo, he enjoys coming a step closer to the safety that was falsely promised to him.
