You worked at your parents' pizzeria to get some money to move out and that's where you met Wally, your current boyfriend, when he came in at 10p.m. on a weekday and asked for 2 pizzas to eat there. Two WHOLE pizzas by himself. You raise an eyebrow, but give him his order, since the shop was empty you decide to watch as you clean around. He eats one pizza, then the other, you’re shocked.
“Man that was amazing!” it’s the one thing he says when you come to collect the plates, you can’t help but laugh at what you just watched
“Well you do have an appetite" you tell him before giving him a napkin for his mouth that was dirty with crumbs and tomato sauce. He blushes at your comment.
From that point onward, Wally comes by the shop every week to eat 2 pizzas and one of those times he asks if you’d want to eat with him, and you do, the rest is history.
Wally LOVES your accent, the little intonations you put on certain words, the way you roll your r’s, it’s almost as if you’re singing, he’s just so drawn to it. You hate it when he tries to imitate it because he can’t for his life, he sounds like an american cartoon making fun of italians, so you just stuff his mouth with a caneloni or other goods you always make.
Speaking of, one of the biggest reasons Wally fell for you was your cooking, it started with the pizza: the thin crispy crust with homemade sauce and fresh toppins got him hooked from the beginning. Then it came the sweets, you love to bake on your spare time, whether it’s for him to bring back to the team, for a party or family dinner, you always have some baked good at home: canelonis, tiramisu on the fridge, tortas and so much more.
When you fight, he can never take it seriously because you do the stereotypical hand gesture everyone knows the italians do and on top of that you fight in Italian and Wally doesn’t understand a word, he can only nod and agree with whatever you’re saying
“È così difficile mettere a posto il bucato?!” ("Is it that hard to put the laundry away?!")
“...Yesss?” he nervously says
“NON!!” you answer.
There’s a silent beat before Wally bursts out laughing and not too long after he wraps his arms around you and you crack a smile.
“Oh hon, I didn’t understand a word” to which you hide your face in his chest embarrassed since you change languages unconsciously.
Oh! And when you don’t know a word, the conversation quickly turns into a charade game.
“Wally, can you pass me the uhhhh, the shake-shake, the shk-shk-shk” you try to mimic the sound of what the thing you’re looking for does
“The cereal?”
“Non”
“Your coin wallet?”
“Nono”
“The salt?” he shakes the little container
“Yes! That!”
Your passion for work and food definitely came from your family. The first time Wally came to visit he met your mom, dad, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins and grandparents, it is always a big family dinner and everyone brings something to the table, which to Wally is heaven.
Your mom fell in love with him the moment she saw him eat, he ate plate after plate, humming with each bite and closing his eyes in delight.
“Il tuo ragazzo mangia davvero bene” your mom tells you with a laugh and Wally looks between you two waiting for the translation.
“Mamma said you eat well” you peck his cheek before whispering “That’s a good thing”
Wally grabs your hand with a squeeze, he’s happy your family likes him.
He plays soccer with your cousins after dinner barefoot in the backyard laughing along with them, you watch from the porch until you hear your dad approach you.
“È un bravo ragazzo, you chose well” ("He's a good guy") your father squeezes your shoulder with a nod.
“Grazie, papà” ("Thank you, dad") you smile at him before your eyes go back to Wally, Wally waves you over to play too, you can’t say no to him and your cousins.
You've been with Jason for a year now and everything seemed great, well except for the fact that both of you have secret jobs that you haven't told one another and now you're in the hospital with amnesia. Needless to say, the truth needs to come out.

Life wasn’t easy for you, growing up in the streets of Gotham with a dysfunctional family made you leave the house at 16 and as an angsty teen trying to make ends meet you ended up in the illegal boxing world.
You were first introduced to this world by other kids who made some cash off of it and you knew it was your way out of poverty. Now, as an adult, you haven’t left, you balance a normal life as a bartender by day and a fighter by night.
A year and a half ago ago, you met Jason Todd at the bar you work in. You do days, so the people that come in are usual clients since people tend to not drink during work hours, until a new face shows up.
“Whiskey on the rocks” he slides a twenty dollar bill on the counter.
You’ve seen some rude customers before, but this guy intrigued you, his leather jacket was torn in some places, the bike helmet that sat on the counter had seen better days and as he looks up you see his face beneath that mop of black hair.
His face is tough, jagged scars of all sizes scattered on his jaw, cheeks and neck that disappeared under the collar of his shirt, but what made you stop in your tracks were those emerald eyes that seemed to glow in your direction, his analytic gaze trying to read yours.
“Coming right up” you snap out of it and take the twenty.
You could feel his burning eyes in the back of your head, chills ran down your neck as you made his drink.
You place it in front of him.
“Want to open a tab?” you ask the stranger as you would as any other customer.
“No, I’m on my way out” he takes a big gulp of the drink, his Adam's apple bobbing with the action.
God were you curious about him, no one else that has entered those doors ever made you feel like questioning.
“If not the tab, do you need first aid?” you ask your eyes drifting back to his disheveled state.
He chuckles under his breath “No need doll, I got it covered”
And just like that he got up from the bar stool and put his helmet back on.
“Keep the change” is the last thing you heard from him, the leather-covered stranger.
That night, you clocked out of the bar and went back to the fighting ring, many dealers were ready to bet copious amounts of money on you for the fight, after all you were their best asset.
Punches were thrown, kicks were flying and the crowd was roaring and against all odds you won, besides the bloody nose and the tear on your lip, you looked pretty good and you made your rent money in just one night.
This is why you haven’t left illegal boxing, because it keeps your head over water, it’s a safety net, a dangerous one, but a safety net nonetheless.
The next day, you clock in the bar and head directly into the small bathroom.
“Well shit” you look at yourself in the mirror, your nose is definitely crooked and your lip is scarred.
Normally, you try to not get hit in the face, but yesterday’s fight was important, so you take the first aid and try your best to wrap your nose, but not too much to not call too much attention.
Now it’s time for work, thank god you work during the day, not too many people question your face and when they do you say “I slipped and hit my nose on the counter yesterday”
The front door opens, you look up.
“Would you look at that, the stranger’s back” you say, leaning against the counter watching the strange man.
He sits on the same bar stool as yesterday and places the helmet on the counter once again.
“Same thing?” you ask.
He lets out a small scoff at your teasing yet nods agreeingly.
You place his drink in front of him.
“Looks like you’re the one in need of first aid today, what happened?” he looks between your nose and your eyes.
“I’ll let you know if you tell me your name” you pry for information.
“Jason” he simply states.
“Nice to finally put a name to the face” you put your hand out for a shake.
Jason shakes your hand back with a smirk.
“Now for the story, I was cleaning before my shift ended and slipped on the wet floor, unfortunately, I hit my face on the corner of the counter” you shrug saying your fake story since people seem to buy it.
Little do you know that Jason is a vigilante with years of experience, he could be a detective if he wanted to, so he didn’t buy your story, it very could’ve been true if it was only your face that was hurt, his eyes shift to your arms that are crossed on the counter, he can see some old looking bruises and some fresh ones, that are not from your supposed incident, but he doesn’t pry, after all it’s none of his business.
Once again Jason nods to your story, drinks the rest of his whiskey and goes on his merry way, leaving the change with you once more.
This quickly becomes a routine to you and him, and you hate to admit it, but you wait all day for those little bickering moments, those mere 10 minutes of your day to talk to him. On the other hand, Jason also starts to think of you more often than he intended, he seems to linger longer in the bar, drinking his whiskey slowlier to have just a few more minutes with you.
After weeks of this back and forth, you invite him to dinner and the rest is history.
Now, one year later, you’re still dating and pretty much confide in each other for everything, except your jobs, that’s the part that’s missing. It’s true that you’re a bartender during the day, you’ve told him that, but what happens at night is another story that you haven’t told him because you’re afraid of what he’ll think of you afterwards.
Jason also hasn’t told you what he truly does, he tells you that he’s an investigator for the GCPD and it’s eating him alive to not tell you his truth, that he’s the vigilante Red Hood.
You both hide from each other without knowing, covering up scars and bruises that appear due to your individual fields, hiding evidence of that work existing, changing names of contacts on your phone to not raise any suspicion.
All of this isn’t out of malice, on the contrary, it’s because you love each other, you don’t want the other to be involved in your dangerous fields.
Until today.
Jason’s bike stops in front of the bar, instead of you greeting him, he’s faced with the “CLOSED” sign at the door, it’s weird you told him yesterday you’d be here, so he calls you.
He calls you once, twice, thrice and it all goes to voicemail, he’s starting to panic.
What if a villain discovered your existence in his life?
What if you were kidnapped?
What if you’re alone and in danger?
All of these thoughts run through his head until he gets a call back, he looks at the caller ID, it’s the Gotham’s Public Hospital.
“Fuck” he mumbles before answering the phone.
The moment he knows you’re there, he’s bolting through the streets on his bike, he doesn’t care if he’s going well over the speeding limit, he needs to see if you’re okay.
“C’mon hold on for me” he keeps mumbling the words to try to ground himself for whatever he’s about to face.
The doctor’s already waiting for him at the ER entrance.
The big doors open to your room where he finally lays eyes on you, you’re pale, there are a couple IVs on your arms, your right eye is swollen and purple and of course he can’t miss the big white wrap that’s around your head. What the hell happened?
It’s 10:24 p.m, you just texted Jason that you’ll be at the bar tomorrow for your morning shift and that you could both have lunch together.
“You’re up champ!” the manager calls you for the fight.
You put your phone in your locker and head out to the ring.
The crowd was exploding with emotion, the bets were rising up quickly and you could tell tonight was going to be good, except it wasn’t.
This fighter was different, more experienced than your previous fights, you couldn’t read their moves as fast and that was your mistake. Out of nowhere, their leg raises for a high kick right on the left side of your head and that’s the last thing you see before falling flat on the ground unconscious.
“It was a pretty bad head injury” the doctor says as he walks into the room.
Jason doesn’t speak, he just holds your cold hand and waits for the doctor to continue.
“We did what we could, but there’s a high chance of amnesia” the doctor places a hand on his shoulder.
“We’ll call as soon as they’re awake”
Jason stays in the hall sitting on the uncomfortable wooden chair for hours, the only thing fueling his body is the cheap coffee from the machine nearby.
One of the nurses calls his name “They’re awake, please come with me”
Jason walks into the room and he lets out a sigh he didn’t know he was holding, just seeing you with your eyes open made him relieved.
“Thank god you’re awake” he rushes to your side and holds your hand only for you to retract it quickly.
“Excuse me, who are you?” you ask confused, your eyebrows furrowed at him.
“What? Baby, c’mon- it’s me, don’t start playing now” he answers back, his tone wavering nervously.
“Baby? I don’t know you, why are you talking to me that way? Nurse! Nurse!”
“Shh, shh, baby it’s alright, it’s me, Jason” he kneels at your bed pleading.
The nurse comes in to stop the commotion.
“I’m sorry sir, we need to calm the situation” she moves Jason out of the way.
Jason is left standing in the corridor once more, eyes focused on the closed door, he can’t believe what just happened.
Maybe it’s temporary, maybe it was just a scare and they’re still remembering things maybe… his thoughts scatter through his mind before they’re interrupted.
“Mister Todd? Our visit hours are up, you can try and come visit tomorrow” the nurse tells him nicely.
He reluctantly agrees.
Visits open at 8, he’s there at the door waiting for the nurse at 7:59 a.m.
“Mister Todd, I see you’re here to visit, follow me”
“How’re they doing?”
“Much better than yesterday” the nurse checks your file on her clipboard “the eye is better, sleeping better, we’re just worried about the head trauma, but that’s where you can help us”
“Help how?” Jason crosses his arms.
“For a person to remember things again, it needs time and patience from someone they can trust, we believe you’re that person since you were their emergency contact yesterday” the nurse briefly explains.
He nods before entering your room.
“Hey, how’re you feeling?”
You look up at him “You again?” your eyebrows furrow.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t introduce myself, I’m Jason” he puts out a hand for you to shake just like your first time meeting.
You look between his hand and his face, he has a small smile, but his eyes are full of pain, although you don’t know who this man is, you feel pulled towards him and accept his hand shake.
His hand is rough yet his touch is soft, he’s careful around the IV on the back of your hand.
“Mind if I sit?” he asks, pointing at the chair. You nod.
“The doctor said I lost some memory, so how are we related?” you ask him, you eyes capture his face, reading it like a book to see if you recognize him to no avail.
“Um- this might be surprising, but we’re dating, we have been for a year now” Jason answers your question looking between you and the window.
“Really? I lost all of that?”
He can tell your eyes are swelling up with tears so he’s quick to answer, he takes your hands as delicate as before, but firm with reassurance.
“No- no- hey, I know this is tough, but we’ll get through it together, I’ll help you, show you pictures, tell you stories, anything to help, hold on-”
He lets go of your hands and snatches his phone from his back pocket, he turns it on and gives it to you. You hold the phone and see the background picture, it’s you two laying in bed, his head on the crook of your neck apparently sleeping as you do a silly face for the photo.
“I’m sorry I don’t remember, Jason” your thumb traces the screen “it looks like a fun moment”
Jason tried time and time again to show you pictures, tell you stories, bring you gifts and spend time with you, but nothing was working and he didn’t know why.
He sighs sitting on the chair that’s molded into his shape by now.
“Well, what is the last thing you remember?”
“Um, I left the bar and went to work my night shift” you try to remember.
“Wait- what? What night shift? You work days at the bar” Jason’s eyebrows furrow in confusion, is there something missing or is your amnesia worse than he thought?
You look at the door to see if there was anyone nearby and get closer to him to whisper.
“The boxing ring”
“I’m still confused” Jason whispers back.
You look around once more and continue.
“I work at a boxing ring, you know, where they place bets on the fighters and such”
Jason steps back at your sentence.
“Wait- so you’re telling me, you’ve been working at boxing rings? The illegal ones near the harbour?” Jason’s face is stuck in place, his shocked expression made you try to explain better.
“Don’t worry! I’ve been doing this practically my whole life, I’m a known face” you expect to calm him down, but it only gets worse.
“Look, I need a minute”
You see as Jason gets up from his chair and out of the room. The door closes behind him and your heart drops to your stomach, “did I say something wrong? If we were dating, shouldn’t he have known about this by now?”
These thoughts surface in your mind and, on the other side of the door, Jason is pacing around finally connecting the dots on everything.
When he met you at the bar…
The broken nose…
The split lip…
The bruises…
When he saw you at the hospital…
The swollen eye…
The concussion…
The concussion.
Jason stops in his tracks, the concussion, maybe you were injured in a fight, that’s why he didn’t see you at the bar that day.
He takes his phone out of his pocket and opens your messages, “After the morning shift, wanna have lunch together? :)” That last text was at 10 p.m. the night before the incident which only confirms his theory.
And just like that he’s out the door ready to find whoever did this to you.
You’re inside the quiet room, only the beeps of machines fill out the space, your eyes stare at the door wondering if he’s coming back inside. You sigh and lay back down in bed, facing away from the door, you eventually fall asleep still thinking about Jason.
Jason parks his bike near the harbour shore, the water is the only sound he hears in the quiet night, his watch reads 01:46 a.m. With a little help from Oracle, he tracked down the illegal fighting ring and was ready for the ambush.
He climbs to the rooftop where a small skylight lets him see inside, there are a few men gathered around a table counting money, the fights end at 01:30 a.m. so he assumes those are the managers of the place.
As he sneaks in, he hears one say.
“What a shame our best fighter isn’t here” the man slides a stack of money to the corner of the table.
“Yeah, real shitty we’re making less than before” another guy grumbles while counting the bills.
“But that new punk seems to be getting it together”
“Doesn’t matter, no popularity, no one bets on them”
Jason’s heard enough. He jumps out of his hiding spot, two guns pointing directly at the two men.
“Red Hood?!” the two men fall from their chairs.
“C’mon man we didn’t do anything!” one of them raises their hands in panic.
“Oh yeah? Who’s the punk you’re talking about? And the best fighter?” his robotic voice speaks through the helmet.
The one with the cigar in hand gets up and throws a flier in Jason’s direction.
“Our best fighter, on the right, got knocked out by the one on the left”
Jason retreats one of the guns and grabs the piece of paper, his breath hitches for a second, it’s you on the right, god you look so different with that angry expression and all bruised up, he crumbles the flier on his back pocket.
“Why tell me this so easily? I can put this whole ring down” Jason speaks again, he knows something is fishy.
“Hood, we’re a sinking ship, after that fighter left people stopped showing up, hell we don’t know where they are now, probably dead” the guy smokes his cigar without a care in the world.
Jason’s stomach drops, at least they don’t know where you are, it’s best if they think you’re dead, he’s going to take you out of this life.
“Very well, I’ll leave you to it”
In the blink of an eye, he’s out of the warehouse the same way he came in, the two managers don’t dare to ask anything else because they all know if you say the wrong thing to Red Hood, you won’t say anything else after that.
He’s back on his bike ready to head in the direction of the “punk”, the fighter who got you unconscious.
“Oracle, I need you to run some face ID, I’ll send it to you” he speaks into the comms.
Jason’s outside the apartment complex Oracle sent him, it’s an old building the only light that’s on is on the second floor. His grappling hook latches onto the windowsill and he climbs up.
As he looks inside, he can tell it’s the person he’s looking for, his hand reaches for his side to pick up his gun, he’s expecting a clean job, one shot and leave, until he hears a cry.
His hand falters on the hold, it’s a baby crying.
“It’s okay baby, it’s okay” is the only thing Jason hears from the “punk” inside besides the baby’s cries.
He can’t do this.
Jason drops to the ground and grabs the flier once more, just because this person hurt someone he loves doesn’t mean he can’t take them away from their loved ones, especially when kids are involved.
He sighs and gets back on the bike, he needs to apologize to you tomorrow.
“Mister Todd, welcome back” the nurse greets him and lets him into your room.
He nods before walking in.
“Hey” he sits on the usual chair.
“I’m sorry about yesterday” you both say at the same time.
“What?” you also say at the same time, still he lets you speak first.
“I’m sorry for dropping a bomb like that yesterday, I assumed you knew my nightly job”
“No, I’m sorry for leaving without explanation, but I have a good reason”
You let him continue.
Jason takes the flier from his back pocket and gives it to you, he doesn’t talk, just observes.
You unfold the crumbled piece of paper and see the picture, your eyes drift to your opponent in the flier and everything stops, your hands freeze, your face is blank and Jason hears your heart monitor beep faster.
Your mind flashes to the moment you were in the ring, the face of your opponent, their fast movements and finally their high kick that ultimately made your mind go black.
Your breathing starts to go labored, you feel Jason’s hand hold yours and as your gaze moves from his hand to his arm and to his face, you see him, you see Jason Todd, the pictures you’ve seen before come back to you in memory, the laughs at the bar, the naps at his place, the dates, the kisses, the cuddles.
“Jay…”
His eyes search yours, the moment he hears the nickname you always call him that he hasn’t heard since you woke up.
“Baby” his hands squeeze yours “are you remembering?”
You nod trying to control your tears.
His arms instantly wrap around you in a tight hug, you feel a tear on your clavicle, you hug him tighter.
As you peel away from each other, there’s a question in your mind.
“How did you find this?” you pick up the flier.
“There’s something I also haven’t been truthful…” he looks down at his lap, he takes a shaky breath.
You squeeze his hands reassuringly.
“I’m working as a…a vigilante, um Red Hood” he whispers to you.
“What- really?” you look at him trying to find hesitation in his face but there’s nothing.
“Yeah, I’m sorry I haven’t told you, I just didn’t want you in danger”
Your hand touches his chin, making him face you instead of his lap.
“I understand how you feel, I never told you about my job because I care too much about you” you smile fondly at him.
“I guess you could say… it’s because I love you too much” you continue nervously.
Just as Jason can’t think he can’t get more surprised, you hit him with those words, he chuckle slightly, his shoulders loosen up and he answers.
“I love you too” his hands cup your face and you gladly close the gap.
The kiss is simple, he doesn’t want to hurt you since you have multiple IVs on you, but nonetheless, it’s a powerful kiss, it overflows with passion and closure, you pull apart and you can’t help but chuckle against his mouth because you didn’t expect your confession to be in a hospital room with the smell of antiseptic in the air.
Jason chuckles too, one of his hands caresses your cheek, his eyes read your face to memorize every dip and curve, he can’t wait until you two can get out of here, but for now, this is perfect, you’re perfect.

It’s 8:36 a.m. on a normal Friday, you pass by the nearby bakery and grab your usual coffee along with Dick’s order before you head to work. As you enter the office building many colleagues are already settled and working, others make conversation in the break room, you greet some of them on your way in as you look for your work friend.
“Dick! Good morning!” you smile at him and hand him his usual coffee order.
“Hey, you didn’t need to!” Dick says every time before taking the coffee from your hands, he doesn’t miss the way your fingers touch gently on his, leaving his heart beating a little faster.
You, on the other hand, wave your hand in front of you brushing off his comment, thankfully for him you’re completely oblivious to his beating heart. As you lean against the breakroom counter, Dick stands in front of you, definitely a bit too close for a colleague to be, but you don’t mind it since you’ve grown quite close.
He notices there’s no one there except for you both, so he takes his chance.
“Hey I was wondering something…” he starts off, his mouth goes dry when you look at him curiously, he sips his coffee breaking the eye contact.
“What’s up?” you sit up straight and tilt your head confused.
The sudden proximity makes him more nervous, but he pushes through.
“I thought maybe we could go to the fair after work…just the two of us?”
Your smile grows after his question.
“Of course Dick, I’d love to go with you!” your answer enthusiastically, your face closer to his.
“It’ll be awesome!” Your eyes shined with excitement.
His hand twitches at his side, the urge to pull you in by the waist closer to him is excruciating, but before he can say or do anything, someone calls for you outside the breakroom.
You look to the direction of the voice.
“Well, I have to get going, see you after work bud” you pat his shoulder as you walk past him on your way out.
Dick is left there standing alone with a lukewarm coffee in hand, he sighs and mumbles to himself “Damn…” as he rubs the bridge of his nose embarrassed.
You're standing outside the office building shifting your weight from one foot to another eagerly waiting for him to go to the fair together.
You haven’t been to the fair since you were a child and it was one of your favorite things to do in the summer, but as the years went by and the prices went up, you stopped going. So when Dick invited you it reminded you of when you used to go with your school friends.
As you go down memory lane, your thoughts are stopped by Dick approaching.
“Ready to go?” he asks you, one of his hands running through his hair.
“Let’s go!”
You could see the lights of the fair from your office building, so you decide to walk there. The evening breeze was welcoming on your face, you walk side by side in silence until you speak.
“Can’t wait to have some ice cream after all this work, my feet are killing me” you say with a sigh.
Dick raises an eyebrow and looks down at your feet, your shoes definitely don’t look the most comfortable, he takes the opportunity to offer his arm to you.
You wrap your hand around his arm, your fingers clasp onto his bicep for support.
“Thanks Dick, that’s very kind” you smile at him once more.
He swallows dry, he intended on making a flirty remark but when he saw your fond smile, everything went out the window.
Soon enough you enter the fair, the addictive smell of popcorn emanates through the air, the laughter of children running around to the delighted screams of people on the crazy rides.
“So ice cream first?” he points to the truck by the entrance and looks down at you.
You nod and follow his lead.
“Hi, I’ll have a chocolate ice cream, two scoops please” you place your order quickly.
“Hmmm” he scratches his chin in thought “one mint chocolate cone for me”
“No way you like the toothpaste one!” you gasp dramatically with a disgusted face.
“You don’t understand perfection sweety” he taunts you by taking a huge bite of his dessert which smears all over the corners of his mouth.
You can’t help but start laughing at his antics, you don’t know how he hasn’t gotten a brain freeze, in between laughs you manage to help him out, your thumb reaches the corner of his mouth that’s still dirty and wipes the remaining ice cream.
That makes Dick stop in place like a marble statue, the touch is electrifying to him and makes his cheeks grow warmer.
You think his slight flush is from the embarrassment or the cold of the ice cream, which makes you chuckle more.
“Yeah, I think I’ll stick to my simple chocolate thank you very much”
After your ice cream, you both decide to check the rest of the amusement park. Unfortunately for you, most people on a Friday also decided to come by after work so the place was more crowded than before.
“Hey hold on we’re going to lose each other at this rate” Dick tells you before holding your hand to not lose you in the crowd.
“Great idea” you hold onto his hand and continue walking forward like it’s nothing.
To you, it’s something normal you do with your friends to not lose them such as in concerts or parties or anything too crowded, yet to Dick it meant so much more.
Finally, as you leave the crowd the one ride that doesn’t have a line is the ferris wheel.
“Want to go to the ferris wheel?” both you and Dick ask at the same time, it makes you both laugh at how obvious the answer is.
You both enter the booth and the ride starts to move, as you get higher and higher you can see Gotham in its entirety.
“It’s rare to see the horizon in Gotham, it’s always so foggy” you comment looking out the window.
“Yeah, we’re lucky this time” he also looks out the window but shifts his gaze back to you.
“Thanks for inviting me, I haven’t been here in years” you sit back on the seat and nudge his shoulder.
You reach the top of the wheel where it stops for a few minutes.
“No problem, I think we should do this more often”
“Yeah we should hang out more, maybe we can invite more friends to join the fun” your gaze goes back to the city view.
“I was thinking more about just us again, maybe dinner for a second date” Dick tells you in a hopeful tone turning to you in his seat.
Your eyes turn to look at him instead of the view, they’re a bit wide in surprise.
“A second date?” you answer a little nervously.
“Yeah, this was a date, I assume” Dick answers back a little more unsure.
Your mind starts replaying the events of this evening:
Dick literally said “I thought maybe we could go to the fair after work…just the two of us?”
And he let you hold his arm!
Oh and he was holding your hand before this!
He was making you laugh with the ice cream!!

Your mind just connected the dots and now you feel so SO stupid, you put your hands to your burning red face before apologizing.
“Oh god, Dick I’m so sorry, I thought you were just being friendly with me!”
Your mind is still going a hundred miles per hour before Dick takes a hold of your hands and pries them away from your face.
“Hey it’s fine, no need to be embarrassed, I’m sorry myself, I just thought you already knew I had a bit of a crush on you”
“What?” you look at him eyes wide open.
“Yeah I’m always nervous around you and can never make a move, well except today when you agreed to come here with me” he chuckles.
“Geez Dick, I’m sorry I never noticed, I take things very literally”
“I can tell” he chuckles again.
“Well, now that you know, would you like to try again, a date for real?” he asks you, his hands squeeze your hopefully.
“I’d like that yeah” you smile at him.
His shoulders finally relax and he can’t help but to smile back, as the booth descends to a full stop and you both get out of the ride, you start discussing plans for the next date, your first real date, you both can’t wait for what’s to come next.

BUT, so far, I’m thinking about getting my undergrad degree in cell & molecular biology, then taking it and running into HOPEFULLY my college’s PA (physician’s assistant) Program to work in pediatrics!!

How you met:
You’re sitting in the living room of Dinah’s house, well your house too now, you recently moved in to make patrols and missions easier and besides it was better than your previous living situation. As you flip through the boring channels, Dinah comes into the room.
“Hey birdie, can we talk?” she asks.
You sit up on the couch to give her space to sit and turn off the TV giving her all your attention.
“What’s up?” you turn to her fully.
“You know me and Oli have been thinking about introducing you and Roy, maybe you’ll make a friend”
You raise an eyebrow, Dinah knows you don't trust easily, only when necessary and recently the Justice League have been mentioning a new team is in the making, so your thoughts are connecting.
“Is this because of the new team?”
“Partially sure” Dinah takes your hand “I also think you and Roy are very similar and it might be good to you”
You squint your eyes at her trying to see if there are any ulterior motives to her insisting you meet Roy, but you find none.
“Fine, I’ll meet him” you squeeze her hand with a defeated smile.
“Great! You’ll do tonight’s patrol with him” Dinah pulls you to a hug to which you roll your eyes but melt into.
It's midnight, you stood on the designated spot, the roof of the Gotham library, waiting for Roy, just as you were about to text Dinah to cancel the patrol you hear rustling behind you.
“Hey” the lower voice says “so you're the sidekick?”
You turn to his direction, you know who he was, you've seen him plenty of times on the news besides Green Arrow.
“Speedy, nice to meet you” you introduce your name and put your hand out for a shake.
He takes your hand and shakes it back, that makes you smile.
“Let’s do this”
You spend most of the night fighting whatever crime you find in Gotham, burglars, low life goons, any small or big crime and you hate to admit it, but you both work flawlessly together, it’s like you read each other's next move.
You both sit breathless on the roof of a random building, the sun is starting to come up on the foggy horizon.
“You know, I had low expectations, but we actually work great together" you look at him.
“Right? I thought so too” he opens a water bottle and hands it to you, you mumble a thank you and drink half of it, you pass it back to him for him to finish.
“We should do this again” you nudge his shoulder.
“Yeah definitely”
You both look at the sun coming up feeling satisfied after a perfect patrol.
How you became best friends:
After that patrol, you both shared contacts and continued with your weekly patrols together. Eventually, you both started to mingle in your personal lives and quickly grew close. When the Justice League announced the Titans, you both were ecstatic to work together everyday and it’s so perfect.
How he finds out you like girls:
Roy notices the way you shamelessly flirt with female civilians as you save them during missions, or when you compliment Donna playfully flirting with her too, making her laugh. One night you both were chilling in his room, your head on his lap, he decided to talk to you.
“So, you like girls?” that’s the only thing that comes out of his mouth making the relaxed vibe from before completely change.
You sit up straight in a second and look at him wide eyed
“Um yeah, yeah I do”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Roy questions you, he’s not offended, just curious.
“Never thought about it really, I guess I should’ve” you lay your head back on his lap as if nothing happened.
“So that means you can help me with something?” he asks you a bit hesitant.
You can only smirk at him, you know he’s liked Donna for a while.
Which leads me to the second headcanon:
Roy confides in you with whatever girl problem he has, what to offer a girl, how to talk to her, how to flirt, EVERYTHING.
You stop your flirting with Donna (to the best of your ability) the moment he tells you he likes her for real and wants to try with her.
You’re there waiting for him after the first date wanting every detail, you’re there when they fight and he needs a shoulder to cry on, you’re there every step of the way, an anchor to keep him steady.
How’s you're different:
You’re both very similar in some aspects and very different in others:
Your personality blossomed when you got closer to Roy, turns out you’re very social and just needed to be around the right people and Roy is the opposite, he’s more reserved but with you he matches your energy. So many times he needs to be the one to keep you collected, like last time you’ve gone to the club:
You, Roy and Donna decided after a hard week you needed to let loose by going clubbing. As a couple, Roy and Donna mostly kept it to themselves drinking responsibly and letting loose just enough, you on the other hand have a very different meaning of letting loose. It hasn’t been an hour and you’re already making out with a random girl you danced with, to Roy and Donna that isn’t really surprising, but the moment he sees someone whip out their phone to record, they're already rushing towards you.
Donna snatches the phone from the person’s hand as Roy grabs you to go. You, not knowing what’s happening, slur for Roy to let go and instead of doing as you say, Roy slings you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and ignores your whining. Donna follows behind you two and can’t help at your situation.
“Roy let go c’mon man!”
“No you’re a drunky”
“I didn’t evennn get her numberrrr”
Eventually, your protests go quiet to simple mumbles about how “It’s unfair she was cute” and “I’m so single”. Donna, of course as a great friend, is laughing her ass off.
How you’re different 2:
Although it looks like you’re the more careless one, Roy is definitely worse than you especially when it comes to missions and patrols, he puts everyone first instead of himself and you can’t count the amount of times you’ve had to patch him up:
He winces as you dab the alcohol disinfectant to the awful cut on his side.
“Hey be more careful will you?” he grunts at you.
“Me? Well how about you? You should be more careful, I had that burglar covered” you dab a little more aggressively now, your eyebrows are knitted together and you shake your head in disappointment.
“You always do this, you put yourself in the line of fire, when will you take care of yourself first?”
“I don’t need to, who even gives a shit anyways”
You stop cleaning up and get up “I do you idiot! I care! You’re one of the most important people in my life! I can’t- I can’t lose you damn it!” you feel your throat closing up and the last words, a world without your best friend, god you wouldn’t even wish it on your greatest enemy.
Roy perks up and the breakage in your voice and gets up too. He doesn’t even ask or care about his wound, he hugs you tight, one hand on the back of your head and the other one on your back.
“Roy your wounds-”
“You’re not going to lose me” he interrupts you with a firm affirmation.
That’s when you hug back as tight as you can, some tears slip from your eyes when you feel him kiss the crown of your head reassuringly.
“C’mon let me fix you up alright?” you sniffle.
How you help him with his addiction:
Roy’s been battling his addiction even before you two met, you coming into his life was a saving grace. Everytime you found the needles, you’d just discard them completely and talk it out with him instead of shaming and berating him like Oliver would.
Every cigarette he’d pull out of his pocket, you would throw it away and hand him a lollipop.
“It’s not the same thing but it’ll help” you’d say to him with the biggest smile.
You loved to drink but when you noticed his alcohol problem, you stopped buying booze entirely and it ended up helping you both.
“Two alcohol free beers please” you’d ask the bartender.
“You’re not drinking?” Roy asks.
“No, I don’t feel like it” you answer.
He smiles at you and you both cling your bottles together to cheer on a life without alcohol.
How you met Lian:
Lian, we have to talk about her of course. After the Titans disbanded, you and Roy stayed separate for a while, not because you were angry at each other, but because life has it’s ways of working, you both were on different paths in life and your friendship faded a little, the usual hangouts turned to phone calls which turned to the occasional text.
You were moving in with your girlfriend just outside of Gotham, as you carry more boxes inside, you hear:
“Roy’s calling!” your girlfriend shouts from the end of the hall with your phone in hand.
You put the boxes down confused, Roy hasn’t called in a while, what could he possibly want? You take the phone and answer.
“Hey stranger what’s up?”
Roy takes a second to answer, you can hear how he sighs nervously.
“Roy?”
“Yeah yeah, um can you come to my place right now?”
“Right now?” you look at your girlfriend, she nods to you and hushes you to the door.
“Yeah I can, be there in 10”
“See you then” the phone call is turned off.
You kiss your partner with a thank you and rush to the car.
You take out the keys to his apartment and let yourself in, the moment you look inside you’re surprised, the house looks like a mess, dishes and laundry everywhere and where are those baby toys? What is going on?
“Roy, I'm here!” you announce your arrival.
Your eyes widen as you see a disheveled Roy come out of the back room with a wailing baby on his hip.
“Oh god I’m so glad you’re here” Roy’s hoarse voice speaks back.
“What the- Roy a baby?!” you can’t help but speak louder in shock, which only makes the baby cry louder.
“Yeah it’s hard to explain, but this is my daughter, her mom is not in the picture and I?m freaking out, please I need your help” it’s rare the time you hear Roy plea, you’ve never seen the man so broken.
“Of course Roy” you take the baby from him and try to calm her down, bouncing her on your hip, patting her back, hushing her, even singing quietly, anything really.
Roy collapses on the couch as you take her in your arms, luckily the lullaby you sing and a pacifier makes her tears come to a stop.
“Thank god, she’s been like this for hours” Roy rubs his face trying to get ri of the tiredness in his face but to no avail.
You sit besides him, the baby now starting to fall asleep.
“What’s her name?” you whisper.
He looks up to you, the way you didn’t judge him and straight up ask him what her name is makes his eyes well up with tears.
“Lian, that’s my babygirl” he whispers back in a wavering tone.
“Well Lian just gained an aunty” you smile to Roy “I don’t care how this came to be, I’m here to help you, Roy”
He can’t keep the tears in anymore, he cries quietly trying his best to not wake up the sleeping baby. You maneuver Lian carefully to the crib in the corner and go back to the couch and embrace Roy in a conforming hug, his cries intensify against your shoulder.
“Thank you for being here, I’m so tired”
The mumbled cries of one of the strongest men you know only makes you cling harder.
“You’ll be okay, I’m here, I’m not leaving”
Anywhere, anytime, you and Roy have each other’s backs, whether it’s a silly situation or a serious one, you’re meant to meet in this universe and be each other's platonic soulmates for the rest of your lives.
just saw another writer on here say their fics were ‘heavily inspired’ by c.ai…so let me be clear
using c.ai does not make you better or any different than other ai users. using c.ai is just as bad as using any other sort of ai. you cannot be anti generative ai and still use c.ai.
as a writer who has had their work stolen and put through c.ai multiple times, it’s very weird to be using a platform that basically encourages theft to ‘heavily inspire’ your writing
