really the lack of care jk rowling put into the other wizarding schools betrays her eurocentric focus. it was fine in the main series when you could easily infer that there were hundreds of wizard schools across the globe, but now we have a list of the ones she deems to be most important (she has stated that there are many more than the handful she lists, but they are smaller and less organised and she doesn’t spend any time elaborating on them) and the ones with the most focus are european or based heavily on that european model in the case of ilvermorny.

africa gets ONE school for the ENTIRE CONTINENT, there’s one in japan and one in russia for asia, and south america gets one. none of these schools have much content for them or information about them that isn’t broad-strokes generalising. nothing on how the cultures of these places affect the magical traditions taught. just ‘african wizards are good at shapeshifting!’ as though africa is a monolith and all the 1.3 billion people in the 54 countries that comprise it are basically the same
