So I’m on a bit of a scarf knitting roll. I finished a Seahawk scarf for my mom, then forgot to get a picture of it. I’ll post it soon though. And then we have this, a cabled scarf I’m working on for Spookiequotes. It’s almost two feet long now, so not bad.

It’s interesting to think about how different an experience knitting was for this woman. I’m pretty sure she didn’t go to her yarn collection and pull out that one special yarn she’d been saving for just the right pattern! What would she have made of all of the fibers, colors and textures of a modern day “stash?” She didn’t sigh and say, “If only I had more time to knit.” She had to MAKE the time to knit, whether it fulfilled her or not. Because….cold weather!

#It's always interesting to think about this kind of thing #so many of people's hobbies these days wouldn't have been possible/practical back then #and I wonder if they got bored of doing the same thing all the time?#I know when it's a matter of life and death you're not really going to complain about it #but when you're trying to knit warm socks for the whole family at night because it's the most time you have #and the menfolk are asleep because they've been farming all day #you'd wish you had someone there to talk to #especially if you were a small family and YOU'D been farming all day too

Can we all just take a moment and appreciate what my boyfriend gave me for Christmas, he whittled this, like he spent time with a knife and carved this sonic crochet hook out of a block of wood…. It’s even customized for me…. He is genuinely the best boyfriend ever

Frustration Cookies didn’t turn out. I ended up having a spoonful of Frustration Peanut Butter, putting the socks away and practicing with my Portuguese knitting pin.

Bleh. Spent a couple hours this morning trying to figure out how I want to get the mountains on this sock and failing fairly dramatically at everything I tried, so now it’s in time out and I’m baking cookies.
