Regarding shipping (BL or no)

Wall of text ahead: Just my personal opinion. A friend recently told me that she doesn't appreciate BL ships, especially in sports anime. She says: why do poeple need to turn a series with a lot of guys into a series full of yaoi ships? Well. People dont need to do it, no one's ever needed to ship a ship, even if it was canon. There are just those people out there, just be content that they are not specifically or actively shoving things in your face. We can't expect the rest of the internet to be as respectful of our personal views as our friends. Close one eye and move on. Yes, homosexuality is often frowned upon in our society especially in sports, and all the ships have everything misrepresented no doubt, but just remember that this is fiction, and in no means real. I mean, gay sex in anime/manga is all terribly misrepresented. There's no way it could ever happen that way. All of this is happening in people's minds and they reserve the right to share what they are thinking. By being content I'm merely saying it could be a lot worse, although it's already pretty bad now - at least they're not shoving it down your throat and making you accept it forcefully, because ultimately whatever they come up with will likely never ever come to pass officially. I completely understand what she is saying, and I'm trying to say that one cannot forget the entire context of everything - the actual original story. It's like being concerned about the ice cream cone being green and forgetting the ice cream that's inside, yknow? Why get angry over something you have no control over?
