koddi huffed, and cast a glance over at their friend. rey seemed so at peace mediating like this, so unlike the buzzing person she’d been when they first met and the twi’lek fidgeted.
“how you jedi can just sit... for hours doing nothing but feeling the universe” they wiggled their ruby fingers dramatically. “it is boring for the rest of us mere mortals. could we dance?”
the idea of dancing brightened koddi’s immature mood and they shot rey a wide, hopeful smile.
stardvstroyer:
@koddiaa
The Cantina was quite this time of the day. Sitting alone, she had a few eyes on her from a few of the residents. Shot after shot. Just enough though to relax her enough to get her into a more sociable state. Shots of bourbon seemed to do the trick. The bitterness suited her greatly. After thanking the bartender, she got up from where she sat, pulling out some money and laying it in front of him. As she turned to leave, she nearly knocked over another. ❝ Wow. Whoops. Sorry. Guess I’ve had a bit too much. ❞
they jumped in surprise when a little frame bumped them, and koddi caught her to help balance her out. she smelt of drink and tangy metal, perhaps a fizz of a laser’s flare, and koddi pushed down their initial disgust and as was their nature: masterfully shifted it to compassion.
“it would appear so, dear one. fresh air would help, no?” they looked down at her with a soft smile, and nodded to the door when her attention reached them. now they could see her face better, koddi felt the compassion become genuine. she seemed…
-crushed.
@morriganren
ruby hands raised as koddi ducked their head bashfully, apologetically.
“i’m afraid you must have gotten confused, handsome. i’m not here to be...” they wafted their hands before the larger man, lips twitching. “handled by anyone, though i’m sure you’re a fun time”
the twi’lek cast their gaze around, looking for an amicable escape, and singled out a woman sitting alone. her eye, like other patrons, had been caught by the commotion made between koddi and the stranger. said stranger had seen koddi’s piercings and no doubt mistaken one for his old tags. they pointed to the lone woman, feigning familiarity. “i’m actually here to meet with a friend. so if you’d please?”
stcrmtrooperss:
“do i really have to do this?” jaycha asked the person that had asked her for a very unusual favor as she looked over at them, worried for her own life. “i mean, can’t you find someone else?”
they shook their head, lekku swinging jovially.
“absolutely not! but i’d like you to” koddi walked around jaycha with an appreciative, and appraising, eye. “you’ve the perfect look for this. all you have to do is sit comfortably, and allow me to draw you is all”
they had been advised by new friends to take up a hobby, one that wasn’t their usual dancing, and the first suggestion- creative writing- died the moment koddi told their companions they couldn’t read. drawing on the other hand. drawing was welcome to all.
“you’re beautiful, and that deserves to be captured” they winked. “it may turn out terrible yet, we could have a nice laugh at my attempt if nothing else”
myrastar:
“it’s alright,” myr says after a breath. she senses that the person is a bit skittish, but anyone would notice that after the reaction without any force sensitivity. “pull up a chair, if you need somewhere quiet. i’m just-” that’s where the problem lied, she had absolutely no idea what she was doing, truly. other than simply drawing a fantasy, and that made her sadder than most thing.
“i -” she starts again, trying to find the words to describe how she feels. grateful, for one, for being allowed to exist. but at the same time, the sadness that comes alongside feeling as if you life was worth nothing. it’s a weird balance that she’s yet to cope with.
“i guess - i guess i am sad,” myr says, “i’m one of those who returned, and coming to terms with a second chance at life isn’t as simple as one would think.”
she spreads her hand across the parchment paper and breathes in softly. the force moves around her, and she hopes that this time she’ll not be forced to turn her back to it’s mysterious ways. she lets the breath out, unaware that she was holding it in for so long.
“i don’t know what to do, truly. do i keep going on as i was? i don’t think it’s possible, now that there’s no war on.”
as they were told, koddi looked around for a chair and once found, they scooted close to their new acquaintance.
the twi’lek kept quiet as they waited for her to find her words. they were right that this woman was troubled by something, and when she admitted she was one of the returned they understood: many of those who’d come back from the dead seemed despondent. lost somehow.
a scarlet hand came to rest on her arm comfortingly. their voice, when koddi spoke, was soft.
“ it’s not quite the same, but i was given a second chance at life not long ago. from a horrible, empty life to a new one that could be anything i wanted it to be ” they paused, choosing their words carefully. “ i felt ungrateful for not wanting all this choice. being able to do whatever you liked? it was terrifying for me. but i knew i couldn’t stay the same as i was... ”
they took a deep breath. their thumb absently rubbed circles on the fabric of the stranger’s shirt. koddi smiled, small and genuine.
“ one step at a time. i found trying to see the bigger picture was too scary, so i focused on little things instead. for me that was dressing how i liked. for you... that could be...” they hummed, trying to think of something. koddi tapped on her parchment. “ making a journal, writing your thoughts down or expressing how you felt about the war. or even just fiction. one page at a time ”
koddi was usually not a fan of the more built up areas of naboo, such as the market place. the bustle of sound from so many mouths and voices reminded them too much of what it had been like in the club: so noisy and claustrophobic.
so they sought out open fields with the chance to take a deep breath of air cleaner than anything they had ever inhaled in their life thus far.
across the grass that swayed in the breeze, koddi noticed a stranger moving through motions they had seen rey perform many times.
a jedi.
as quiet as koddi could, they sat down on the ground with legs crossed and their attention fixed on the man. it was a little like dancing, koddi thought to themself, but while the dancing they knew was layered with lust and energy, this form was layered with focus, the nature of the universe- so said rey- and certainly no erotic intentions.
they rested an elbow on their knee, and their chin in their palm, and simply watched until the stranger might notice them.

“Twi’Lek” Phasma announced, the chrome trooper walking up and holding up her hand in a gesture to stop the other, an authoritative ‘halt’ in her stance “Inform me of my whereabouts… The name of this planet” she ordered, having not cottoned onto the fact that she was a dinosaur compared to others around the planet- the trooper still convinced that they were in the middle of a war. A war that had in fact been lost by the First Order. @koddiaa
their brow furrowed when the rude hand came to halt them. casting a quick eye up and down the stranger, koddi knew this person wasn’t any of the officials they had come across. whoever this was held a level of self importance they knew very well.
“ naboo ” koddi answered testily. “ west of the capitol, not far from the market. it might benefit you in the future to be more polite: a please perhaps? an ‘excuse me’ ? ”

it was strange. to die and find your things exactly where you left them. packing up her library once again was more difficult than coming to terms with knowing the unknowable. she thought she’d left something useful behind, but it was untouched. no one had noticed, and maybe that was the hardest part of her death and rebirth: that in the end, she was alone and forgotten.
but those thoughts were too melancholy for now. she’s been given a second chance to change that. and sitting alone and silent in the back of the hangar with a blank page spread out in front of her wasn’t the way to do it. yet it was what she was doing. some habits couldn’t be broken so easily. another swooping line, the best she could do with the shakier memories of the once-great jedi library.
the visitor enters without her notice, too caught up in calculating her next mark to greet or notice them until they’re near enough to see her etching. “oh - i apologize, i didn’t see you there.” myr begins, “am i in your way?”
the surreal nature of what was happening around them had koddi caught up in themself for some time. all they had known for their entire life were passing faces and the same confinement of the club: until of course they were liberated. they thought the strangest thing they would encounter would be new people who stayed for longer than a few hours.
that was not the case however. the dead were returning and the living were straining to accommodate them all as best they could.
in the midst of everyone rushing around, too many people than koddi was used to being near all at once, the twi’lek weaved their way around looking for somewhere quiet. once found, it guilted t them to realise they were encroaching on someone else’s peace.
“ sorry- no, no of course not ” koddi rushed to explain. “ i was just wandering around, i didn’t mean to invade your privacy ”
they inclined their head, bright blue eyes studying the woman.
“ you look sad. is everything okay? ”
