Enjoy Coffee with Nne

Trying out different cafes and rating them based on 1) coffee 2) atmosphere 3) staff / price Sometimes I just rate the coffee. Disclaimer: I’m no expert in coffee nor am I a barista. I simply love coffee and I love chilling at cafes. I created this blog for myself, so that I can find good cafes based on my own personal preferences.

Cold flat white (4,5 €) from Koffee Lab

There was a bit too much milk for my liking. The barista got up to help us immediately once we arrived. He offered is cold water with ice cubes. He regularly checked on us to see if we needed anything. The vibe is chill. The lights are dim, the walls are black and the music is a calm jazzy genre. All the drinks can be made cold. Seems that costs more though. All in all, I’m quite satisfied.

A cappuccino Honduras Milk Doppio (1790ft) from Flocafe at Budapest airport

I asked for a flat white, but I was served what is called a Flocafe Cappuccino doppio. I was skeptical, but after 3 sips I concluded that this is the best airport coffee I’ve ever had. It’s perfect!

Flat white (60 NOK) from Starbucks

At first sip: ugh, this is bitter.

After a few more sips: hmm… tastes like the beans were roasted well.

I added nutmeg by the way. I don’t know if it corrupted the flavors. Anyway, the milk does not have a distinct flavor. Perhaps it’s skimmed milk. It’s quite neutral in the coffee. I can’t tell whether or not I like it. It’s tasty, but in a theoretical way, I guess.

Please notice the spots on the plate… disappointing.

New York Café

Rating: 4/5

Atmosphere / staff: 5/5 - the barista was lovely!

Price: 5/5 - compared to other cafes in town (some with much lower standards), this place is much cheaper! And the quality is good.

Coffee: 5/5 - I got a flat white and I have no complaints about it. It was yummy!

Why 4/5 and not 5/5? The space. This café is tiny. It’s such a great place to have coffee, but because the place is small, the seats fill up quickly. I did notice that they’ve increased the number of seats there, which is great. More people can sit and enjoy their coffee. Before there were like 3 tables or so. Now there’s more. But the place is still small, which can be uncomfortable if you’re like me and you prefer some personal space.

The cheapest flat white I’ve had in Kaunas!

I already knew this coffee would be hot, because as the barista placed it on my table, steam was coming from the coffee. I don’t remember the last time that happened!

It has a good amount of bitterness, yet the creaminess is also there, making a good balance. Yummy!😋

Rating: 3/5. Warm, not hot. The taste was alright. I was craving coffee afterwards.

3/5. Not worth the price. It tasted more like a cappuccino and it was not hot, but warm. The cup was nice though!

Watermelon freshpresso (3,90 €) from Caif cafe.

It’s orange juice with an espresso shot and watermelon syrup at the bottom. The name fits, I will say that. It’s quite refreshing on a hot day!

5/5: I don’t know if I would recommend this drink to anyone because the taste is… different. It’s not bad. It’s not meh. It’s alright, and it is refreshing.
