Nothing besides the taunting noise of his own breath resonated in the empty alleyway. His hands were clammy. Warm, but quickly cooling down to an uncomfortable damp mess.

Red.

Red was everywhere. Red covered his clothes, his body, and a face he could not recognize anymore.

He was staring at a former lover, or perhaps someone he did still love. Kaeya’s hands twitched and trembled. Someone had taken his beloved away from him in the cruelest way. They had ripped him out from his arms and now his dearest Ajax was gone, the fond memories they had together stained a deep crimson.

Numb, Kaeya picked himself up, his boots scraping against the moist cobblestone beneath him. He hovered over the body with his eye still lingering over that face, and with a final sigh, dropped the knife.
