California State Might Get Split
It has been a very long while since I have written in here and it’s a long while.I wasn’t going to make this my first entry for 2018 but something has caught my attention while reading some Twitter feeds on California. I am hoping that this doesn’t become the reality but it seems that there are people who are voting for this to make it happen.I was shocked to hear that California might be split up turning the western part of the state into a brand new state called New California.
I was surprised and shocked to hear the news because I thought that California was good as it was but with the recent problems of debt it was running and the lack of water for the last few years I figure that maybe the people want some sort of change to occur. Of course we cannot forget the recent forest fires that have been going on I think that it’s time for some sort of new government to take place while at the same time I wonder what this will do for the people who were born in that part of California because they have this assumption that the part will leave the United States but that isn’t the case at all.
Now I have some second thoughts about this because I don’t want to see the state split up because what will affect the whole economy of the state.Plus, where does San Francisco and Los Angeles sit in all of this? They will be in the small state of California which will probably not have the resources to operate if it seperates from the bigger parts of the state since one cannot operate or function without the other parts.
Short Note On Mental Health Issues In The Workplace
This is just a short note before heading out the door for another shift. I have this thought that maybe the gas prices will stay the same as it is right now or it will change tomorrow. But anyway, I will be working with a coworker who is somewhat unpredictable since one time he is happy then the next moment he is sunk. Another words he feels happy one moment then the next moment he is depressed. There are a lot of people with his condition that are working and are just struggling through life.
So I guess I can understand how he feels at times due to having some sort of bipolar disorder. Mental health never really gets talked about in the workplace since the stigma attached to it and that to me in a way is sad because the people suffering from mental illness often have to keep quiet about their condition. Which to me is unproductive for sufferers and businesses themselves because if an employee is absent from the workplace then that will count as a loss in productivity and profits too because not only do businesses have to cope with the loss of money due to absentees, they have to cope with time and money loss in funding mental health to their employees.
The Missing Stepladder
Just a quick note before heading off to work. I will see if I can go into a little bit more detail with the blog entry I had written on verbal abuse since there has to be some legal components that I didn’t write in there.But anyway, this will be my second day in coping with the missing small step ladder since my supervisor took it away from us which was something that she wasn’t supposed to do due to the weight that it carries and it does carry some weight. In a way it breaks company policy because I heard before that we were supposed to have the ladder to use for work and with her taking it away from the staff that in a way is breaking company policy.
But I guess she discovered that we were sitting on it while working but that is irrelevant since we don’t just sit on it. We use it to get items that are hung high such as the jerry cans we sell to the customers for gas. Then there are other items such as batteries and lighters which are hung up high that I had to get since a customer wanted them.So, I am not happy with this arrangement since I had to jump up and get the pack of lighters for him. Hopefully in a few days the union does something about this problem because it doesn’t seem right for something which is used for safety purposes to be taken away like that.

Gasoline Journal
Just back once again here and I have to say that business at the gas bar was really slow despite having some odd rushes here and there.I don’t know what is going on with business and the economy these days but there seems to be this slow sense that companies are beginning to hire new candidates here in Calgary since the last few days I have seen some people quit their jobs at the gas bar. And talking to a customer/coworker he told me that business has picked up in a very slow manner but still this no reason to get too excited.
I say this because we are still dealing with the very low price of oil since there aren’t that many companies out there that are willing to hire people back to their jobs. Plus I had a talk with a different customers who has a business downtown and he told me that there isn’t much activity downtown.So he had to leave town to find work and do some time up there. So, as you can see the economic situation isn’t all that good. But slowly business is picking up once again.Plus the gas price has gotten lower but by not much because it only went down by a couple of cents.
Other than that my shift went smoothly with the exception of a customer who came in at the last minutes right when we were about to close.Don’t you hate these last minute customers who wait until closing time? I do since they had all the time in the world in the day time to come and buy some gas but decided to wait until the last minute to buy fuel. Then I would have to wait for a long time to wait for them to finish. So I think that this issue need to be changed. That’s just the way I feel right now.

Well, I must say that it looks like I am back to reality tomorrow since I will be putting in work at the gas bar.It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a decade that I have worked there. Time goes fast when you least expect it and it seems to wait for no one.Now even though the coworker I am working with tomorrow seems nice I still have these pitiful memories of him giving me a hard time when I first started working with him when he was newly hired. Now that I have gotten to know him and him knowing me things in a way have mellowed.
Anyway, this will be short since I am still just finding out what is in store for the business. I am seeing that it is getting pretty dark fairly quickly since it is August and summer is about to come to an end and dealing with the reality that I will be getting a bit more hours with one coworker quitting to attend school and his other job. With all the others continuing their education and job search because of business being slow and the lingering frustration that they themselves want to make more money in order to move forward.
But overall, the gas business I think will pick up this coming fall since gas prices will probably go up due to the changes of gasoline with fall approaching and summer winding down.Fuel companies have to change their formulas of gas from summer to winter in order for the cars to run properly. I know that this will be done in Alberta due to our cold weather and temperatures.I am not sure about British Columbia since it tends to be warm there in the winter even though it rains quite a bit making the weather there a lot cooler.

Short Note On Fuel And Retail
I must say that it looks like I am back at work. Which reminds me I was going to check the gas prices when I got home from the gym but never had the chance to do it.Anyway, it seems to me that I am going to have another quiet shift since the Stampede is on right now.It’s almost over since another three days will come and before we know it,it’s over.Then things will be back to normal with everyone working throughout the summer until fall comes.
Anyway,I have to say that the second half will be a busy one for the retail industry since most stores will be selling a lot of back to school items which will happen in two months from now.I think that this time will be the busiest for most retail stores and I suspect that gas prices will either go down or up as well but I have to say that they will go down quite a bit since fall is around the corner and most petroleum companies will have to change their formula of full to the winter blend.

Just a short note before heading off to work.I checked my schedule for next week and I have to say that it is a bit of a progress because from what I saw I have more days to work finally. It could be that some of my coworkers are going away on vacation and maybe another one is going.I don’t know but this will be a real simple time for me financially.I can take some money and save some of it since it has been weeks that I was able to save anything.
Work/Retail Issues
Just want to get this down before heading off to bed since I am not able to sleep. Hopefully I am able to come up with something concrete while I just ramble along on this keyboard.Anyway, I will be working tomorrow and hopefully the gas prices remain low because according to this news source I think that the prices will change or the gas tax will go up for some reason.But I am not sure because with news a person finds it hard to believe which stories are true or which ones are false.I will read the Calgary Herald to find out the truth as to what is really going on with the gas prices.
Anyway,I am hoping that the company I am with reaches an agreement or negotiations soon because there have been some moves from the company I am with which will have a major impact on the food retail industry.Which is that one of its stores will eventually close in the city because it has been under performing. That’s very strange because I have been going there often and I see a lot of customers in there doing there shopping.It’s never really dead but I guess this company has different ideas.
Well, that will be all for now since its getting really late and I am due for work in the next few hours.But I am just curious to find out what my schedule is when I get to the gas bar.
Money Order Ordeal
I will just get this off since I do have a tall order of writing to do.Now as I have seen it didn’t rain a whole lot today and that was good.But not so good since I wanted to do a little bit of bike riding today and never got the chance to do it. Of course it is not only the weather that I was worried about but spending almost all day getting stuff for my passport renewal and let me say this:it’s not easy to renew a passport whether it’s an American or Canadian one.It involves a whole lot of money, form filling and the process of waiting for weeks for the embassy or consulate to deliver the passport. It’s not an easy process in which I thought it was going to be. I would just get the money order easily from the bank and just go about my business.
But I realized that I ran into a long tedious process since I found out the bank I am with is now dealing with a money transferring company which requires everyone to supply an address the money order is going to.So many changes that I was unaware of because I remember years ago I thought a customer could just get their money order from the bank they are with and just receive it for a certain amount of money and just go about their business. All they would have to do is just fill out the money order by putting their name, address and postal code and the address of the place they are sending the money to.But I must say that the rules have definitely changed when it comes to transferring money orders.
But eventually I was able to understand the policy after the teller explained it to me in more detail.And it tells me that most customers will have to deal with this issue if they end up having to get money order in order to renew their passports.

Small Note On Upper Middle Class Black Americans.
It’s been a long while since I have written anything in here. It’s just that I have been dealing with a broken laptop and just taking time off from this blog since posting a whole lot of entries.I was also just thinking of topics that I can talk about on this blog.Now that I am here I will just begin by saying that I have been doing some surfing on Google trying to find any African American upper middle class communities and I managed to find a few on the Internet.And I have to say that I am pretty excited to see something positive out of this group since most of us when we watch TV and movies all I have been seeing is black Americans living in inner cities which to me isn’t really how African Americans actually live in America.
It was nice and refreshing to see that these people actually have this spending power and are putting it to good use.But I must say though that they as a people still have a long way to go before they can celebrate because Black Americans even though they have a lot of money in spending power, the money doesn’t show the fact that they have not made up for the lost money they have accumulated over the years because from what I have read, Black Americans still live in area which unemployment and crime still run rampant.But watching these videos showed me hope that they are doing somethings to improve their wealth status.This seems like a step in the right direction.
