depends on what you mean by accept it, like do i accept the fact that it happened or have i come to like them as a couple?

on the first point: i’ve come to accept it and think it makes somewhat sense given the conditions in universe—five created an entire woman and life with her to cope in the apocalypse before, it’s the not entirely off to suggest the possibility that he could fabricate something similar with lila. and with lila, i could see her being swayed towards the end of those seven years—though i would have been more inclined to believe it if it had been a little longer considering she had family, but i think this point for me is saved by the fact that she is the one to want to leave as soon as she realises she can, that there’s a way out. lila wants to go back home. as much as i love and adore five, i fault him more than i do her.

do i think they should have included it given the limited time they had? no. do i think it was a good writing decision to keep it after getting the six-episode news? nope! do i think it would have been wiser to scrap it and instead focus on the others and their plotlines, giving them more screen time, or simply a more satisfying conclusion in general? yep!

granted if it had been a typical 10-episode i could see them fleshing it out better (putting too much faith into the writing here…) because i do think the idea on paper itself presents an interesting dynamic AND could see it as a fair way of exploring five better than they did, and giving lila a nice conclusion to her: ‘i’ve always wanted a family but i don’t deserve one’ bit. but as it stands i think it was a really poor execution of it, mostly due to the fact it happened in really short time span. and i’m talking like under an hour. i think it’s also a shame it was never really resolved well because it inevitably bled into the ending and disappointed viewers because of how it effected not just diego and lila, but diego and five’s relationship at the end.

i do also think that the way the arc goes in canon, it gives lila a much better ending than five. five seemingly goes backwards as a character, imo lila at least gets that conclusion i mentioned in the last paragraph. she chooses her family and lets them go because she loves them. she willingly lets her family go, as much as it pains her because she finally has the family she always wanted, because she loves them and wants them safe, even against her own desires. it is a bit muddied by five going against her choice to move on, almost as if dragging her down with him because he can’t accept it.

but do i like them as romantic partners? do i wish they had been a couple regardless of any time constraints, and did i want to see them be together? hell no lol. i only wish they had written it better if they were that desperate to include it at least 😭😭 like damn give us nothing to enjoy season four

#💭#now do i think the concept is a bit weird out-of-universe and in relation to the actors. yeah that’s a different conversation #do i think canon-five needed a love interest as said or implied by steve (i can’t remember). also no!#do i think the fivelila aspect gets very overblown as to what ruined season four? yeah but i do understand where it comes from #i think people have more perspective now as it been near a year but i do understand the emotions surrounding it when the season first aired #i love this topic it’s so silly. why did they do that to my umbrellas.

liking a new character, so much so that they become an official f/o, means i also like their media. so much so that it becomes the focus of my everything for at least a month which is a downside

but the second downside is the phase that comes after that month passes . it either gets worse or worse i can’t wait

#💭#the phase involves me avoiding the show at all cost and eventually coming back to it out of guilt from avoiding it #which can either 50/50 end up with a second round of losing it OR.. getting further exhausted from watching it over and over and over and #this is about evan primarily. goes for bobby and maddie too but i just hve a tendency to be more obsessive with my romantic partners #you can tell with evan especially because he IMMEDIATELY jumped into my main f/os #opened up the show (i was on my third rewatch- i stopped around mid s2) for the first time today after a 3 day break and saw him and jumped #my stickers of him also came in the mail today. he’s so eugeneike egruejen wahah
