noun; a single released by PSY July 15, 2012; the title of the song and containing lyrics refer to a type of lifestyle often lead by inhabitants of the Gangnam District of Seoul. The song quickly gained popularity in Korea and the rest of the world, going on to top the charts in over 30 countries by year's end. The accompanying music video gained popularity in it's own right, especially in the West, due to quirky imagery and humorous choreography and is currently the most viewed video on YouTube with 1.5 Billion views. It is considered by many to have single-handedly renewed interest, or in the case of Western audiences given new interest, in the K-Pop Wave across the world.
