    what protests would normally spill forth die in his throat ,   & izzy allows for fang’s arm to curl around his waist ---   lifted easily from the deck & sat up onto one of the crates.   the sun went down about an hour ago ,   edward long since hauled himself up in what used to be bonnet’s quarters.   out of eye of the master ,   the mutt licks his wounds & whines in pain   /   israel will allow himself that reprieve.

     israel hands isn’t the kind of man to be messed with.   blackbeard’s right hand ,   the tooth & fang used to carve his way to infamy   /   he bears a legendary status upon his back.   few find themselves witness to his blade & live to tell the tale.   so why does he allow this contempt ? ---   it’s because the boy is of use to bonnet ,   is what he tells himself.   bonnet makes edward happy ,   & it’s his job to make sure edward stays happy.   to carve up the gentleman pirate’s crew would only serve to push himself further out of blackbeard’s graces ,   so he endures as he ever has.

     the tug to his scalp draws a slight hiss ,   head tipped upward gaze upon the flushed features of the scribe.   izzy wants to bite ---   gnaw & tear ,   render his maw bloody ,   taste lucius’ warmth on his tongue !   would he mock him ?   even as he chokes on his own ichor ,   would his last breath be used to deride izzy once more ?   the thought leaves pupils blown & knees weak ,   gloved hand rising to take hold of the hem of the boy’s shirt & grip it like a lifeline   (   closer ,   more ---   )

     uncovered hand lifts to take hold of the back of lucius’ neck ,   not yet pulling ,   but gripping tightly.   brow pinches in thought ,   a hungry yet hesitant look in his eye.   it’s a pathetic look ---   an abandoned mutt whose master long since has turned his affections elsewhere ,   desperate to be in anyone’s favor again   (   i can be good ,   please let me show you .   )     ❝      fuck ---     ❞     is the only thing he manages to get out before closing that distance ,   crushing their mouths together with a fierceness he hasn’t felt in some time.   a part of him worries :   they are in bonnet’s quarters ,   what if edward were to walk in ?   but as he tastes the other man on his tongue ,   teeth biting at that smug mouth ---   he decides he really doesn’t care.
