The concept of content creation is dead and it's content creators fault.
Creating things on the internet used to be about actually wanting to create, but now it's about making stuff for others and putting yourself out there, and while that has it's inital problems it's genuinely turned most of the internet into snot nosed brats with sticks up their asses.
Content creators don't make for themselves ever anymore. It's a cycle that starts with making for fun, one hate comment, readjusting, then once it's been clear the comments people make effect the creators people do it more and more until the whole internet has devolved.
This is how things like the "cringe culture" or the popularity of online hating and even bandwagon witchunts of what used to be known as "cancel culture" it's not that exactly but it is part of the starting point of all those nonsense
Not saying the old internet is better by any means, and I could give less of a shit about company led platforms. But there's no creator led platforms, it's all about the viewers. Not a single person ever chooses to make for themselves anymore and it's by force. The public internet thinks it's allowed to hyjack creators and there really needs to be an end to it.
It's not even the public's fault. It's the content creators. All the burnout they get from trying to appease crowds just causes more of the issue. People put in too much effort to help their "fanbase/fandom" and it's strangers who care more about themselves.
Only real way to stop it is by choosing to ignore hate, and cancel culture. And making whatever the fuck you want regardless. Notice how e621 has more passion than YouTube now a days? It's cause they already don't care about public opinion they are making furry porn. But YouTubers care to the point that YouTube is essentially ruined.
It's a hard pill to swallow, something people will always struggle to do; cause let's be honest people care about the things said about them and their passion but honest to glob enough is a fucking enough. Can we just quit allowing people to do this to us? And furthermore why is it so hard to not harrass content creators in some way??
If I was popular I would genuinely be telling haters the most glob awful bullshit. What are they gonna do? Post about it online? I've already shown I don't care.
This is why I appreciate creators like vivziepop, gooseworx, Jschlatt and so on. Cause they will say their opinion. They respond how they want. And their haters are less effective (for the most part) they have a "idgaf" additude that we NEED. they haven't been fully canceled yet even though I've seen and heard so many people that want to get rid of them.
It's cause they just don't care. The whole internet pisses me off, and it's somewhat content creators fault.
