okay i have a huge rant about the new ‘26 season regulations:

they’re sh!t. like genuinely.

because of the new regulations, your quali matters more than the actual race (minus the race start). if you qualify well, hopefully on pole (and get a good start), you’ve basically won because you barely have to use your boost bc of which you save your power and your electric part of the engine is fine.

the new engine is half electric and half fuel. if the electronic part is even a little off, your entire race is f*cked (like w the mclarens today). this would never have happened before because this doesn’t happen w fuel engines for no reason.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE REAL RACES WHERE QUALI DIDNT MATTER MORE THAN THE ACTUAL RACE.

There's something about all these pundits and retired drivers (Sebastian Vettel and James Hinchcliffe are huge examples of this, oftentimes Jenson Button as well) getting asked about Lando and going on entire spiels about both his driving skills and the kind of person he is off-track whereas when they get asked about other drivers, sometimes in the same interview, it's all just about on-track and driving-related stuff.

He's been talking, especially since last year, about wanting to leave a legacy both ON and OFF track. He's already accomplished that goal, regardless of how this year turns out.
