Beyond this, consider how these professions might vary depending on who the customers are - nobles, or lower class. Are they good at their job or just scraping by? Do they work with lots of other people or on their own? City or village?

Resources: Writing Characters with Mental Illnesses
So you want to write a character with a mental illness, but you don’t have one yourself. It’s been said that writers should write what they know, but this advice is limiting and outdated. With a whole world of information out there, there’s no reason you shouldn’t write the character you want, but be aware that you’ve just entered difficult territory. Misinformation or insensitivity in these topics can easily isolate, anger, or trigger your readers and none of these tactics are likely to earn you any fans. Accuracy and authenticity is of the upmost importance when perusing these topics, but remember that a dictionary definition is not enough. The best thing you can do is keep an open mind, look to testimonies of those with these illnesses themselves, and remain observant, respectful, and unbiased. Here are some resources that might help.

21 Things No One Tells You About Depression
An important thing to remember when writing depression is that there is a big difference between “being sad” and “being depressed” (see “depression vs. clinical depression”). Lots of characters will have sad days and experience horrible things; while this can lead to depression or can worsen already existing depression, a bad event does not necessarily mean that your character is depressed. Make sure you look fully into their situation and emotions: are they guilty, sad, mourning, etc.? A sad character does not equal a depressed one.
Often, depression can hit without warning and can affect otherwise perfectly happy characters. The best way I’ve ever heard depression described is as a war: the part of your head that knows nothing is wrong constantly fighting the part that thinks everything is wrong. Depression is not always logical, and while your character might not always know why they feel the way they do, it’s your job to guide the reader through these feelings.

Anxiety:
It’s important to note that feeling anxious and having anxiety are not the same thing. I’ll be saying this a lot, but due to the incorrect assumptions about mental disorders in the U.S. and their remaining stigma in the world today, these words often get thrown around in the wrong context. Being anxious is awful, annoying, and nothing anyone should have to deal with, but the following resources are about anxiety, which you will see is a bit different.
Everyday Anxiety Vs. Anxiety Disorder
Anxiety Attacks and Anxiety Disorder
8 Things Only People With Anxiety Will Understand
What a Panic Attack Feels Like
It is also helpful to be aware that not all panic attacks are caused by panic; many panic attacks are simply caused by a chemical misfire in the brain and can therefore occur at any time, even if the person in question does not seem to be panicking at all or have any reason to do so.
OCD:
One more time now: being organized or cleanly is not the same thing as being OCD. Your character can be a “neat freak” and not have OCD, or can have OCD and not be clean at all, or sit somewhere in the middle.
4 Real Truths About OCD
International OCD Foundation
What Is It?
What OCD Feels Like
Now that you’ve got some background, remember that a mental disorder is part of your character’s description and not who your character is. It’s important not to define them by their problems, but to make it a background to their own unique characterization and plot.
What are common household chores and who is expected to complete them?
Are maids and nannies common?
I'm going to answer this with the Linford Family (Kris, Kenji, Ron, Emma)
Maids and nannies are not common in this household. Kris is a Weasley - they just couldn't afford them when she was growing up, and so even though she's the headmistress of Hogwarts and can definitely afford maids and nannies, she refuses to hire them. After all, how will her children learn to be self-sufficient adults? Common household chores are some of the more typical ones. Both twins are responsible for keeping their rooms clean, and bringing down laundry when their baskets are full. Does it always get done? Not always, especially for Ron. Ron is also responsible for taking out trash and helping his father with yard work and the such. Emma is responsible for some of the more homemaker-esque chores: dishes, laundry, and the such. Emma also will sometimes help cook or clean, especially when her mother's away
What is their pain tolerance like?
How do they handle being sick or injured?
Character: Alana Slytherin
Alana's pain tolerance is quite high, actually. Being a child who spent most of their time risk taking in the form of climbing, crawling, and jumping onto and from everything, one tends to build up a pretty decent pain tolerance. Alana can handle sprains, strains, and even mild breaks without missing a beat, however the one time she broke her leg, it was a bit intense.
On the flip side, Alana does not handle illness well. She's a bit of a wimp when it come to illness and injuries worse than the simple ones. She tends to just ball up on the couch or bed, and has a little pity party. Sometimes her children make less of a scene than Alana when it comes to illness.
"I think I’m coming down with something."
"Do you want to help me make some mulled wine?"
"Bah Humbug."
"All I want for Christmas is you."
"Well, I guess we’re right under the mistletoe!"
"I wish I got someone else for Secret Santa…"
"It’s snowing outside!"

Before I forget: Yes, i'm using this for character development and to write for the sake of writing using my characters. HOWEVER, I am willing to independently rp with anyone who sends me a prompt or starts someone with a character. But, there's a few things to realize:
- Currently, all characters are in the HP universe. I am willing to do the alternate universe thing, but I'm not the best at it, so bear with me.
- Most of these characters have seen death eaters, been attacked by them, etc.
- In the universe these characters are in, Voldermort was never killed - we started the rp before book 6 came out, i believe. Regardless, the original rp was started before book 7 and Voldie's death. Voldie is later killed, replaced by Lucius Malfoy, who is also killed(there was this whole storyline where he was a "daywalker" aka a vampire who can be out during the day without dying. He turns one of my characters into one and she's later cured. the player of lucius stopped rp'ing, so we decided that Lucius was dead.), and then is replaced by Dante Slytherin, an OC character who is connected to quite a few of my characters (the two slytherin families i have are related by marriage, the Traffords have been attacked by him for years, specifically).
Hope this helps, and the ask box should be open!
What would be the perfect gift for them? Why?
[POV: Dorothy Slytherin]
The perfect gift for Dorothy would be anything nerdy. Dorothy is a bookworm, someone who spent so much of her life reading, studying, and learning that she almost never learned how to be social. Currently, she’s the head pediatrician for St. Mungo’s, and helped develop cures and treatments for diseases, so the nerdiness never really went a way. She loves books, even as an adult who is raising 5 children with her husband. So, what would the perfect gift be? A medical book, obviously! But good luck finding one that she doesn’t already own! ;)

Describe your favorite outfit. Why’s it your favorite?
[POV: Ruby Slytherin, age 14]
My FAVORITE outfit? Pssh, making me choose like that. I guess if I had to choose something, it would be my dress for this year's yule ball. It's royal blue…cuz, y'know, i'm a princess. Oh! and it's long - I have to pick it up sometimes because i trip on it, and I wouldn't want to do that! It doesn't have sleeves, but it has these tiny little straps on it, which I hate, but mum insisted that I get a dress with them. There's beading on the top of it that's blue, and then there's this silver sash tied around my waist. I love it! I always feel like a princess when I wear it.
I have silver shoes to go with it - they have a little bit of a heel on them, and the whole shoe has glitter on it. Gotta sparkle if i'm gonna look like a princess! They kind of look like these shoes in this muggle movie I watched when I was a kid called "The Wizard of Oz" - except that girl's shoes were red.
Of course, no outfit is complete without jewelry! I have a necklace that has a sapphire pendant - mum and daddy gave that to me when I got my letter to Hogwarts. I have a pair of crystal earrings - they don't hang down or anything, but that's fine, i hate having stuff around my face like that. What if I got them caught on something? Oh, and I also have some bracelets that are blue and silver, but that's really about it.
See why I love this outfit? Oh, and yes, I know the colors make me look like a ravenclaw, but has anyone ever seen me in Hufflepuff's colors?! Yuck!
I started the preparation for a novel and wondered what kind of things I should ask my most important characters. So I looked around on the net and put this list together.
1. What is your full name?
2. Date and place of birth?
3. Tell me about your parents?
4. ...
Wanted to share this helpful tool with anyone who needs it. A lot of people have a hard time putting their feelings into words and identifying what emotions they are feeling. This is called a feeling wheel. It can help you get to the core emotion you are experiencing and help you name each feeling when you’re overwhelmed with many emotions

Jack and Dorothy are the couple that you see around that just makes you gag sometimes. They're sugary sweet to each other, the seemingly "perfect" couple. Even after 14 years of marriage, they still sometimes act like they're back in hogwarts dating. Jack loves everything about Dorothy and vice versa. The two have 5 children together, and live like families you see in old television shows (think Leave it to Beaver, and the like).
