When the eyes are tired, we cannot see. When the mind is tired, we cannot think. But when the heart is tired, we cannot anything.
Nicole Addison @thepowerwithin
“Sometimes I feel as though there are two me’s, one coating directly on top of the other: the superficial me, who nods when he’s supposed to nod and says what he’s supposed to say, and some other, deeper part, the part that worries and dreams… Most of the time they move along in sync and I hardly notice the split, but sometimes it feels as though I’m two whole different people and I could rip apart at any second.”
— Lauren Oliver, Delirium (via books-n-quotes)
it’d be cool if we could record silence and play it on full volume on a speaker and just make the whole room silent.
“I don’t know what’s worse: to not know what you are and be happy, or to become what you’ve always wanted to be, and feel alone.”
— Daniel Keyes, Flowers for Algernon (via books-n-quotes)
“An intimate relationship is not necessarily a physical relationship. Rather, it is a trusting, close friendship with another person in which one can be honest without fear of rejection.”
— Erik Erikson (via quotemadness)
It’s such a kind act to help someone else when they’re feeling down. It’s always beautiful to lend a hand to one that is left empty. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but just imagine how important it is to the receiver. Even the smallest bits of warmth can feel like the hottest of deserts when the rest of the world is ice cold.
“Acquire the habit of speaking to God as if you were alone with Him, familiarly and with confidence and love, as to the dearest and most loving of friends.”
— St. Alphonsus Liguori (via laurenarlene)
“If I don’t have time to live my life well the first time, when am I going to find the time to go back and live it over?”
— Robert Fulghum, Uh-Oh (via books-n-quotes)
“No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.”
— Zen Proverb
““It’s a funny thing about happiness. You can strive and strive and strive to be happy, but happiness will sneak up on you in the most peculiar ways. I feel happy suddenly. I don’t know why. Some days, the way the light strikes things. Or for some beautifully immature reason like finding myself running to the kitchen to make myself some toast. Happiness comes to me even on a bad day. In very, very strange ways.””
— Joni Mitchell (via naturaekos)
“If it means a lot to you, then make the time to do it. If it’s something that lies close to your heart, then allow for yourself to feel it. Make space in your life for what matters, for these are aspects that are meant to be held close to you.”
— Nicole Addison @thepowerwithin
