Q's Tips: Random Derby Lessons

Elektra-Q-Tion has skated since 2009, and in this month's Q's Tips she's sharing some of her knowledge.

At times I wish I had never heard of roller derby, but those times are few and far between. Usually it’s because I’m worn out from league business, or our never ending season, or an accumulation of drama and joint pain. That’s when I feel the frustration closing in on me, but then I go to practice, see my team making strides towards progress and I feel like it’s worth the frustration. When I’m feeling frustrated for a long time period, I have to remind myself of the rewarding portions of derby, and if the frustration outweighs those, then I’m on the road to retirement.

Why You Haven't Found What You're Looking For

If you could let yourself live in the moment you're in, could you find happiness today? Right now?

Life is what's going on right now. Are you happy now? If not now, then when? When you lose the ten pounds, when you have the sculpted arms and impress people with your headstand in yoga class, when you get married, when you get divorced, when you write that book, when you beat that time, when you get that promotion, when you change your career, when you break six figures, when you retire, when you have that new car, when you buy that house, when you pay off your mortgage?
