Old Faces // Will & Kris

Will rested his head in his hand, supporting his upper body against Olivine Lighthouseâs railing. He had already begun to grow tired of staring out at the rapidly setting sun, as beautiful as this eveningâs was. He turned back towards the Lighthouseâs peak to check if his Xatu shared his feelings, but her gaze remained as focused as ever.
She chirped out to him in anticipation of what her Trainer was about to say, still not breaking her concentration.
âWell, I donât think youâll be able to foretell anything by staring at the moon, too, Xatu,â Will teased as he gestured to the rapidly darkening sky. âOr, do you simply not want to give up your favorite perch?â
A loud ruffling of feathers was the only thing Will got for a response, prompting a knowing smile from Will. Content with allowing her to finish her relaxation, Will began to turn back to admire the stars that were already beginning to show up in the sky, but a face caught his eye. The blue hair stuck out in his memory, conjuring up images of a girl running past a defeated Will with excitement, only to stride by again a few hours later with her head hung low.
If it was the person he was thinking of, he wondered if he should even approach her. Before he could completely decide, though, his body had already made the choice for him, turning himself towards the girlâs direction.
âPardon the intrusion but, if Iâm not mistaken, we battled before, didnât we?â Xatu was now peering down from her little perch at them, reaffirming Willâs suspicions. ââŚIt was, Kris, yes?â
Olivine City had such a soothing atmosphere to it. When Kris had the time to get away and she wanted a place to relax, Olivine was her first choice. A place of especial note was the lighthouse, placed up on the highest hill in the town. Every day, the light of the Ampharos resting in the top flashed through town, a bright yet calming effect. Trainers fought throughout the levels of the tower, the noise echoing down throughout the building.
Dusk was settling in when Kris arrived at the Olivine Lighthouse. The deck below the neck of the lighthouse was a beautiful place to sit and watch the day, especially around this time. She made her way up through the lighthouse to the deck. She did not notice the other individual in the area, focused on the scenery outside. But she was drawn out of this, being called out to by a man.
Kris recognized the voice pretty quickly, and if she hadnât, then his words gave it away immediately. She turned to face the man, looking into the face of Will, a member of the Indigo Leagueâs Elite Four. It had been years since her attempt at the Pokemon League, but she still remembered each of the Elite Four and subsequent Champion battles clearly. She had defeated all of the Elite Four members, though they proved just as challenging as everyone had warned. She had overcome, and reached Lance, only to be shot down by his renowned Dragon Pokemon.
She smiled at Will in greeting. âWe have. A few years back. And yup, Kris indeed I am! Glad you remember. Youâre Will, yeah? I remember our battle perfectly even now. It was intense, man. You really know your stuffâ well, of course you do. Wouldnât be here if you didnât, eh?â
