the thing people need to consider about tenna is that when for your Whole Life you're treated like an object/a being whose value can only be derived from a very specific purpose or function (not the dreemurs's fault, to them he was quite literally an object- which is a very healthy, normal and common view to hold about your tv set, so i really can't fault them for that, lol), you're going to construct your whole identity around being whatever that thing is and doing it really really well, especially if it means you'll be rewarded with attention/praise you may not be getting otherwise. and for tenna, that purpose is being a performer and a facilitator of entertainment/wholesome laughs/family fun etc.

his problem it isn't just that he craves attention and desperately wants to feel loved again (of course it's that), but that his only way of obtaining that love is and only ever was via being a wacky and funny tv host. he's used to hamming things up for the audience and turning himself into a spectacle, he's used to thinking of himself as someone that exists primarily to bring joy and comfort. it's what got him in the love and security he so craves in the past, and it's what he's going to do now to try to recapture some of that warmth. what other choice does he have? what else does he know? what else is he good at? he's narrowed his identity in order to fit this role to the point that he believes he's only worthy of love and approval if he can provide this service, if he can give people something to laugh or cry or smile about, etc. and if he can't be that guy for whatever reason (which he can't be forever) then the entire worldview he's constructed around his television persona would be shattered, leaving him to question his purpose and his worth (if i'm not good enough for this anymore then am i good enough for anything?). it's SAD. prior to the post-chapter events of ch3 you can tell that tenna believes he is no longer loved or wanted for being the only thing he knows how to be and that he feels utterly worthless. he's so scared of being left alone again and it's genuinely kind of hard to watch if you think about it too hard. #unfortunate

tenna is such a ridiculously funny, silly, desperate, unhinged character but that's directly related to why he's so tragic i guess IMO. he's such a washed up dejected sad sack and he doesn't even do a very good job disguising it via his act. he is truly #miserable. he's doing his best to give the audience a show they'll remember (and love him again) for, but with all of the anxiety and dejection and loneliness he's had to deal with for years very obviously bleeding through the cracks. plus, the fact that he exists physically in the light world as a literal object which can be bought, sold, turned on and off at the flick of a dial, boxed up, torn apart, thrown away, etc. is just kind of just like setting someone up for insecure attachment and emotional/physical abandonment unfortunately. i realize this concept must be utterly foreign to him but bro needs to chill TF out if he wants to stop alienating people and just be a person for a while instead of constantly trying to entertain everyone. he needs to accept the fact that he's a goofy, corny, sentimental old man and not a suave, charming, charismatic star like he wants to be and that's OK. maybe he never even needed to be those things in the first place to be worth of love. his melodrama, his delusions of grandeur and his over the top attention-seeking behaviors don't need to be encouraged, he needs to take it easy and open up and let himself be taken care of (and the person to do this should probably be spamton and/or mettaton but who am i to say IDK...) anyway post/rant Over

Don't mind me just showing up after months dropping this and walking back out of the room while answering no questions.

Trying to get back into doing little comics of just THEM, the middle aged men who went through shit just to have little quiet moments. Let them be soft and gooey and gross together.
