george russell being congratulated by sebastian and lewis after qualifying p2 at spa

As the number 1 Esteban historian, would you say George Russell and Esteban are seen together much? To me they seem like they could be such good foils, for lack of a better term; the similarities in their upbringings with respect to how much their families depended on their success, but with Esteban being very close to his dad while George’s relationship with his dad is fraught, being products of the Mercedes driver academy, etc. idk to me they could be the duo ever

i think they are not really seen together much, no, but their dynamic goes super hard. not just the fact with their families and fathers, but also how toto treated them both, and how he drops drivers once he finds a new "golden boy".

and then, of course, sakhir 2020. when toto decided to call up george instead of este, and it was an awful race for george bc merc fumbled, while este got his first f1 podium.

and ofc este never holding a grudge over it all; he has said george's time will come in 2020, he spoke up how it would be insane if he ended up with no seat on the grid.

how este won hungary, and toto only called him three days later to congratulate him, while george got a questionable podium in spa 21 (since it was quali positions and no race happened) and toto celebrated it insanely, while both of them were still merc associated drivers in other teams.

when este got george for secret santa, he got him a drum with a brazilian flag, since george won his first ever gp there.

george has said in the past he would have liked to be teammates with este (2019).

i think when it was announced lewis was leaving and este was no longer going to drive for alpine, we had a perfect opportunity for this lineup. sadly toto hates sexy things.

I think that corresponds directly to who is actually oldest and youngest though?

Not to wax lyrical but the thing I love is how they have each others backs in different ways so as to protect against each others perceived "weaknesses".

Everytime someone suggests Alex isn't a great driver, George goes into rottweiler mode. He literally read Red Bull to filth, unprompted, because Alex was struggling in the second seat. When Alex was out of a seat and only getting to run in DTM (or cosplay as Lewis Hamilton's stunt double in Red Bull's weird ass Silverstone tribute) George lobbied to get him back on the grid. Noone has ever said who he recommended to Toto for the Merc seat, but based on previous form, it's not out of the realm of possibility to guess who it might have been. Everytime Alex has had a good race or good quali, George is always excited for him and has congratulated him.

Anytime someone suggests George is a cringe fail loser, Alex's face literally lights up as if to say "Yeah, it's awesome, isn't it?!" He always tells interviewers that George is his best friend. No one finds George as funny as Alex does. He appreciates his goofball quirks in an affectionate way as if he's one of us. He laughs at him and teases him but it always feels done in a way to make light of ìt rather than bring him down. The things that some people try to make derogatory about George are the things that Alex finds most captivating and interesting about him. People say George is a posh twat, Alex tells everyone how he's actually cheap. People say George is too PR, Alex tells everyone how George is a walking meme. I've seen people take it the wrong way before but honestly, he's got his back.

They're just...Great together. You can tell they get each other and have a similar sense of humour. They've literally grown up together. They're adorable?

I don't think we talk enough about how George changed after Imola 2021.

We talk about the pressure from his dad, and how that's probably influenced how he carries himself in public, but seeing those old Williams era IG stories, it's easy to forget how he was significantly more laid back and openly silly between 2019 and 2020.

Sakhir was the touchpaper - when he had the taste of victory and the heartbreak that can come with being at the front of the grid - but even then he was still messing around on twitch in the weeks afterwards. It was after Imola that he seemed to shut down and back away from sharing himself so publicly. When he tried even harder to be what he felt he should be to fit in.

He spent years being terrified of disappointing his dad, but he'd found a place to have fun with it, but he was even more terrified of disappointing Toto.

the thing is I am pro-rpf on principle, but I do think you should keep it away from the actual people you're shipping. but it is NOT out of concern for their comfort (insert pete wentz bank account post), it's for the same reason that like animal behaviorists and field biologists and such try to stay out of view when they're observing animals in the wild. don't tip them off it's gonna to skew the results of my study.

Yeah I sincerely love that plot when Ferus sacrifices because mostly people say something like "Anakin is not dead"means merely"there's good in him", but when Ferus says it he means the flawed, selfish, weak Anakin who suffered from fear and anger inside Vader will torture Vader himself until he breaks down inevitably.

Interestingly that's exactly why Vader in TLOTJ seek for the drug to abandon his memory of Padme&the time he could enjoy his healthy body, and Ferus just destroyed the drug merely for Lune's life. Karma.
