âYouâre close big guy but not close enough. The Arrow is my mentor, the big boss, Iâm just the sidekick. They call me Speedy.â
âSpeedy, is it? Well, sidekick or not, Iâm just happy to see that there are more good ones out there. The worldâs changing and the people need people like you to make them feel safe.â

âWell, Iâll be damned.âÂ
It was as if he were staring into a mirror. Decades ago. Perhaps not as bulky, but that face was certainly unmistakable. How on earth would he even begin to explain this?

âAnd here Iâd thought the situation looked like a job for Superman. But it looks like you have things under control already.â

âA bow and arrow..? Iâd heard there was someone called Green Arrow operating in Star City, but.. I donât think you fit the bill.â

âIâm not a little kid anymore you know, i can do thingâs that Oliver does. I donât see why itâs a big deal if he sent me in his place.â

âIâm not questioning your credentials, Artemis. Iâm just..âÂ
It was difficult to even formulate an argument at this point. He knew all too well itâd simply erupt in an argument. These kids always argued when these types of situations came about. And dissension would only lead to an even worse outcome.Â
âAlright. But you stick close to me. Do not act without my permission, understood?â
An older man took advantage of your son and he's pretty messed up about it.
âWho did.. what?â
âHeh â yeah, you caught me. Iâm a Avenger, actually, even if itâs only part-time these days. Iâd be surprised you havenât heard of me, but honestly, Iâm sure you have too much on your plate to be keeping track of the complete list of heroes, right? There are a lot of us, these days.â
As star-struck as Jennifer admittedly is by Super-man, she finds that itâs easy to relax into her usual persona around him. Given his almost god-like reputation, he was a surprisingly approachable guy. She could see why she always seemed to see kids climbing all over him when he did publicity.
âHey â this might be a long shot, but⌠Can I buy you a drink or something? Or do you not do casual in the cape?âÂ
âWell, I canât say thatâs a bad thing. More of us just means that the streets are that much safer from thugs. And more people to count on when weâre dealing with âend of the worldâ scenarios.âÂ
How long had he been smiling at her by now? It was strange how comforting it was to talk to someone heâd only just met. As if they were just naturally likable, in a way. It was a nice feeling nonetheless. With everything that had been happening a of late, having something to smile about was a godsend. Her proposition reached his ears, which caused a look of hesitation to spread across his face. But only for a moment.Â
âWell, itâs not like I have much of a reason to wear my civies these days. But I should warns you. People might.. Over-exaggerate me being around you in some ways. I wouldnât want to put you in an uncomfortable situation with the media just because you offered to have a drink with Superman.â

How do you prepare for life in an entirely different world? The answer is relatively simple. You donât. For the past three months, the most bizarre situation that Clark had found himself in was finding out that he was not the last surviving member of his race. He had grown used to the powers, the heroics, the life and death battles. Heâd only just now gotten used to the fact that there may be more of him. But this? This was still beyond anything he could mentally handle.Â
He had arrived with more questions than answers. And the questions grew more plentiful with every second. Back on his earth, he was the sole hero of planet earth. At least, as far as he had known. Now he found himself surrounded by posters, newspaper articles and commercials centered around costumed crime fighters. It was too much to take in. Especially when he could hardly even remember the events that led to him arriving here.Â
But this world would not accommodate him so readily. The first thing he saw on the faces of others was fear. Not towards him, but towards another. A child, who for some reason was surrounded by floating orbs of light. And before him, a group of men. Heavily armed in clothing that could only be described as fanatic. Had he known more, perhaps he could have stopped what transpired next. Various slurs. Sermons of God. The word âPurifiersâ. And the flash of a gun. He was forced to watch someone gun down an innocent boy. Context wasnât needed to determine that that was unforgivable.
âPut the weapons down, now. Before I put you down instead.âÂ
Figure things out later. Stop crazy fanatics now.
                      NONE OF THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!
