My favourite method

Camera Obscura

A quick tutorial (that I was so sure I've posted before)

Ingredients:

1 can of chips or similar (big tube with a solid bottom and an open top)

black carton-paper (this needs to be rolled)

sandwitch/parchment paper

tape

pin or big needle or nail

Procedure:

1) Poke a hole through the bottom of the empty chips can in the middle like this (I think I used a sharp screw way back when.)

2) Roll the carton paper into a tube the same size as the can and tape it together

3) tape the parchment paper on one end of the carton tube you just made.

Et voilà a quick and cheap camera obscura.

Some notes:

I literally made this in 2021 out of crap I found lying around my apartment.

This works best in well-lit areas. The image is upside down. The bottom of whatever can you are using and the carton should be opaque and the parchment paper or whatever you're using should be transparent enough to capture the image properly (hence why I used sandwichpaper). Also the rolled up carton should be a bit longer than the can so you can adjust the focus.

On adjusting the focus: slide the carton out -> image gets larger and dimmer. Slide the carton in -> image gets smaller and brigther

Imma go out and find a spot I can see the sunset from.

it's no doubt been said many times, but global warming is a class issue. not only because how the economy runs and how much environmental harm it produces is almost exclusively controlled by the capitalist class in most countries, but because that class, and its lackeys, move between air conditioned homes, air conditioned cars, air conditioned offices, and air conditioned recreational spaces, while many people in lower classes globally suffer inescapable heat due to the way they're forced to live. the suffering and deaths caused by hot summer days is a class issue

Okay. So let's see.

Climate catastrophy is getting worse. Summers are getting measurably hotter. Environmental disasters are getting more extreme. There's a blockade in one of the more important trade routes that will affect things like fertilisers.

And the current celebrity "body" trend is outright emaciation...

The writing has been on the wall for a while; there's gonna be a famine.

Actually feeling like I just saw Al Capone be arrested for tax fraud, except it wasn't an arrest but a resignation from political office and it wasn't tax fraud but using a surrogate mother in a foreign country after voting against legalisation.

Wasting several billion euro? No worries. We'll just make life shit by stealing even more money from citizens. Worse quality of life for everyone but the people owning private jets amirite?

Open corruption or getting cozy with fascists? Those things have appareny been rungs in the career-ladder.

But having a child with his husband? Perish the thought.

Not to sound too radical or anything, but I don't want "my enemies" to suffer either. I don't want people in cults to be hurt. I don't want their faces being eaten by the leopards either. I don't want people from marginalised groups who voted against their own best interest to feel the cruel consequences of their success.

Yeah, sometimes there's people who really gotta see what following through means.

I just don't see the point in celebrating that. My suffering is not going to be better, because someone I don't like is also doing shit.

It's disability pride month again, ain't it?

Here's a few things to keep in mind:

Many disabled people live in legislated poverty.

Contemporary medicine is built on a foundation of bigotry - including abelism.

Disabled people constantly have to fight against an uncaring system. I am quite certain many of us do it alone, and even if we get support it oftentimes isn't enough.

Disabled POC have it worse and from my observation are even more overlooked and systemically mistreated.

Disabilities are more common than some may think. Not all people with disabilities think of themselves as disabled. Not all people with disabilities are disabled.

Accommodations aren't too much.. Any accommodations are the bare minimum for the people who need them.

Getting accommodations isn't taking away from anyone. There's enough out there for all of us. Any system that claims otherwise is lying. And any system that is built on denying because "someone undeserving may get help" is inherently oppressive and dehumanising. Don't be part of that.

Accessibility is never guaranteed. Even if someone ablebodied claims a place is accessible, they literally might not have any ideas about the actual barriers in place.

Disability can be very lonely.
