As the younger mentioned her roommate, the guidance counselor immediately thought about what Taejoon had said and once again, he reminded himself that it was none of his business.  Then again, this girl was gravely sick and well, even though he didn’t want to get involved, he knew he just couldn’t do anything.  “That’s good and if your roommate decides to be an ass, let me know. I am also his guidance counselor so I can talk to him.” Taejoon might be annoying and talked about useless things but he managed to get him to his office so he hoped that he could talk him into leaving Sying alone if he got to be too much.

Although he read in her file that she had come from a school of arts, it was as she mentioned it that he was reminded of that fact and he knew that there was no way she would ever get used to the difference.  Then again, in his opinion keisung was better than homeschooling since she got to make friends and live like a normal college student; he wasn’t sure if she was okay with socialization though.  “Was the change from homeschooling to a proper school hard?” He needed to know if she was still struggling with it and if she was, then he would need to talk to her teachers to make a plan.  “I am glad that you are looking at it that way instead of thinking of them as burdens.  Are you helping with the decorations or just attending the ball?”

sying was still surprised honestly that she got on with her roommate, but she was definitely thankful for it because if she didn’t then she knew that she’d be having a pretty hard time right about now. and she still missed her sister so much, the first time she’d been away from her like this after all, so it hurt to be away. it hurt to not tell her the reason why she was so sick as well, because she couldn’t say that to her, she couldn’t hurt her sister that way. “a-ah.. i will. he’s nice though, so far, so i think i’m okay. he’s a good roommate.” she nodded, even if he liked her sister more, but sying didn’t really care much. she could get over that easily anyway.

“a little bit, but more so because.. i was training when i started schooling here? and then i started the survival show, and it just made it difficult to transfer over but it wasn’t too hard. i got used to it pretty quickly!“ sying nodded once more. it was a struggle, of course, but sying knew she needed to overcome those kind of things, just like she’d need to overcome this too. she needed to pull through to get better, right? “my korean still isn’t the best, so it’s only when there are words that i don’t get or that people talk too quickly that i kind of struggle.“ but she was working on it, definitely. “it’s just easier, honestly. and ah, i’m going and helping-- so both. taejoon asked me to go.“

Receiving Sying’s text confirming their spontaneous date, Sora set off. Packing up her things she stood up in the middle of the lecture hall and descended down the stairs towards the exit. The professor shot her a look and crossed his arm but she paid no mind. Yelling something about woman problems as her cover for the entire class to hear as she veered out into the hall. 

Quickening her pace, she managed to put on her coat and scarf before stepping outside into the crisp fall air. The rebel made it to the gate in no time where she saw Sying waiting for her. The younger’s was facing away so Sora took advantage of the situation. Running up she hugged Sying from behind and placed an affectionate kiss on her cheek. “Syyyyinnggg,” she cooed, “you weren’t waiting long, right?”

sying didn’t necessarily hear sora first, more so felt her as the females arms wrapped around her and sying was laughing, grinning a little as the other kissed her cheek too. sora was her best friend for a reason after all, and she was at least thankful that she had someone like this in this place too. that helped her a lot. but she was laughing at the other. “i wasn’t!” she shook her head then, turning to look behind her at sora as she spoke. “i only got here a few minutes ago, but did you get out of your class alright, unnie?”

minho wants nothing more than to bury his head into the ground. he definitely never imagined that they would meet at a dump like this. he pictured meeting her backstage at a music show. however, he’s already decided not to wallow in self-pity anymore. with motivation from his brother, minho has decided to put his past life behind him. 

minho isn’t mad at her for barging in. he was just a little startled. he curtly replies, “it’s fine.” he stays quiet as she continues to ramble. it’s a little endearing. he’s starstruck, but she can’t seem to hide her own nervousness. for now, he won’t mention that she’s his favorite member because that would make things even more awkward. it’s weird not to see her behind a computer or television screen. when sying claims she’s not the best dancer, he slightly tilts his head.    

“do you still dance?” he was definitely bummed out when she left the group. perhaps mentioning that will only add salt to the wounds.   

she wasn’t entirely sure how to be now that she’d been caught honestly, and considering that it was her song and he was doing it.. and now he’d seen-- and she was nervous as anythiing.. she really did know what to do. even her hands as she spoke didn’t know what to do honestly, but he didn’t seem too unhappy? right?

“if you’re sure-- i mean, i can go after all. i don’t want to disturb you-- a-and that was really good, like yea.. it was really good!“ she was grinning a little before realising that her rambling and trailing off was coming back to her, and she could feel her cheeks redden a little in her own embarrassment now too. but the question of if she still danced made her look up from where sying had been looking at the ground again. “ah, well um.. i can? but not for too long. i’m not supposed to over exert myself, but i think at some point i’m going to miss dancing. that’s the good thing about our dances i guess.. they aren’t really that hard. but i’m a weak dancer.“

As he sat across from the girl, he couldn’t help but think that she looked familiar but of course, not even this stopped him from stealing a bite of her food.  It was when she explained that her food was the vegetarian version that he gasped and then putting his hand over his heart, he stared at her with wide eyes.  “Wow, are you eating that against your will? Because if you are eating that to stay thin, I can tell you that you don’t need it.” He really couldn’t think of living without meat and just the thought of the girl having to give up meat for a diet hurt him.  “If not, then let me know if you ever decide to come back to this side and I will show you all the dishes you are missing out on because of your current decision.”

For once, he was serious as he spoke and once he was done with that, he continued eating his food as if he had been starving for a few days.  It was then that his mind reminded him of where he had seen the other and he began coughing as he realized that the girl in front of him was the maknae from Olympus.  “You are Sying from Olympus, aren’t you?” He asked once he stopped his coughing and with wide eyes, he stared at the girl.

her eyes widened when he asked if she was eating it against her will, almost blanking out in her mind for a moment before she shook her head slightly. “i-- no? i’m a vegetarian by choice? i mean.. i had a diet before, but it was a different kind but i’m a vegetarian.. i like eating like this. i don’t like meat.” she mumbled out, mostly still confused at his reaction because sying had not been expecting that kind of reaction. “i.. don’t think i’ll ever go back to that side. i haven’t since i was like.. six? i don’t eat meat for moral reasons.” which she’d stick by for life, because even the thought of being fed meat made her feel a little sick in her stomach. but at least sying would never force those kind of beliefs on anyone.

but as she goes back to picking at her food quietly with her new companion, she’d kind of shaken out of that when she looks up to him coughing, and panic worries across her face then. at least until he talks again. “a-ah.. i um, i am. that’s um, that’s me-- but are you alright? please don’t choke.”

His hair had been slicked back and his ever-confident smirk was back on his lips. Balls and other formal events in Keisung were something unexpected and it gave him an excuse to whip out some of his best suits, including the navy blue suit he was wearing with the sequined lapel. And maybe it was a little overboard when Sora came in with him and Minho in her arms but they were having fun so there really wasn’t anything wrong with it. And whoever it was that brought the food and drinks were the greatest people in his books, considering he got to drink spiked punch and saw high schoolers ruin themselves over. “Take a look at that mess,” he said as he pointed out the pile of high schoolers, his black and gold mask barely hiding his amusement.

sying felt and looked like a princess tonight. beautiful and elegant, just like the dress that she’d had specifically made to make sure that she’d look her best-- because after all, tonight was now the kind of night that sying didn’t know if she’d ever get to have again, and because of that, she was going to look her best. only she’d lost taejoon a little while ago, and now she was just searching the drinks table, and avoiding all of it. alcohol wasn’t good for her, and sying was already aware that the drinks would not be a good idea. when she hears the voice though, the masked female, tilts her head at where he’s pointing. “shouldn’t someone look after them?” after all, most of them hadn’t known about the spiked punch.. and it didn’t seem fair to her..

The hall was adorned with ethereal designs, to the point where she didn’t recognise it was actually the school gym. What a cliche. Of course they’d use the school gym to hold the masquerade. But who was she to judge? The ball committee did a great job transforming the blasted place into a nice and grand hall that she almost didn’t believe it was Keisung. But then some high schooler had gotten drunk because of the spiked punch and a brawl was in the works. Jesus, why was she in charge of discipline? Her whole outfit was being wasted by being babysitter to these overgrown children. “One night. One night, and these brats don’t know when to quit.” God, maybe asking for a quiet night was too much to ask.

after being told there was nothing good about the school, it made her happy to at least see that they could hold something like this in here. that they could make a run down place look so.. well, amazing really. and it gave sying the option to dress up and feel like she was wanted when taejoon has asked her to be his date, and granted, she knew she probably wasn’t a first choice or really one anyway, but it was nice for someone to ask her. it was nice to have someone that wanted to take her too. but she caught the edge of what the staff next to her had said then, and sying noted who it was after a moment anyway. “d-did you expect.. any better?” because sying had a feeling things were going to be messy.

sying was laughing a little as she sent the text, already nearing the gate then as she pulled her coat around herself tighter. it was getting cold now with fall definitely in the air anyway, and with that it meant it could be a trickier time for sying really. the cold had never been good for her health, and she had the worry that this year might be worse. by the female brushed it off as she stood by the gate, shooting another text off to say she was there, before stuffing her hands in her pocket and waiting. and of course, despite the cold and tiredness laced through her bones, sying was still smiling as she waited on her best friend now.
