ksyejun:
feat. ksxara
For the first time Yejun sat in a designated public drinking house - aka, a bar. The lights were dim and illuminated the bar with a soft orange glow, but shadows still fell and stretched into dark, mysterious corners. Thinking about all the potential murderers that could be waiting for them in that corner, Yejun squeezed his palms together and took a deep breath. “A-Ara-shi,” he began, looking over to the woman who had dragged him out “why are we, ahm…here?”
When he drank he did so alone, usually in the studio to calm his nerves. Losing his inhibitions around other people wasn’t exactly his idea of a good time, and with every ticking second he felt himself growing warmer underneath his jacket. “I don’t think I like this kind of thing” Yejun confessed in a last effort to convince her to whisk him away to a safe haven away from cold, judging eyes.
There were countless decisions that Ara had that could be considered reckless. A spillover from her youth, Ara hasn’t fully let go of that kind of life, although she can admit that she has matured a bit. But Jung Ara was a rebel through and through and she’s unable to let go of that. So when she heard about this kid who was trying to be the world’s youngest grandfather...well, she took it upon herself to bring Yejun out and let him have some fun once in a while. “Why shouldn’t we be here?”, she asked back, her tone full of mirth and amusement.
But she could understand why he didn’t like staying in the bar much. If anything, bars here were way too different from the izakayas in Japan. Bars in Korea were loud and to an extent, much more annoying to deal with, but she wanted this kid to experience letting loose with someone. “Well where do you want to go, kid?”, she asked as she drank a big gulp from her beer, the bartender shaking his head at her half-heartedly; she was regular enough for the bartender to know who she was. “Relax for a bit, kid. Just finish a drink with me and when you’re still uncomfortable, we can leave.” She wasn’t going to force him if he didn’t want to, after all.
