Quick ballpoint pen studies of Yagazie Emezi and Saumya Khandelwal after reference fotos in the National Geographics issue on "Women. A century of change" (11.2019). I especially loved the quote from Emezi. I think it captures well the unhealthy misconceptions of beauty which are present in a lot of cultures. Personally, I have believed in unhealthy beauty standards when I was younger and I still sometimes catch myself feeling lesser because I do not look a certain way or don't put 'enough' (what even is that?) effort into makeup and clothes. More #plant #studies 🌿🍃 I glued another piece of christmas wrapping paper on the left side to cover up the #marker stains from the page before. With this #illustration I wanted to add more structure and give the eye groups and lines to go along. Also, I added some shading to give it more depth, which made the whole process more time consuming.
