Multifandom mess owned by an overly polite little Canadian, currently mostly Yu-Gi-Oh, I got back into it during a Steven Universe hiatus and WHOOPS. At some point in the night Amethyst gave Peridot a sly look. “I picked a song for you.” “You did?” Peridot asked, not suspecting a thing. “Yeah I know you like Devo and found the perfect song. You’re up next, make me proud!” The very second Amethyst’s choice started Peridot knew what song it was. The Devo cover of “I Can’t Get No Satisfsction.” Peridot sang the song just fine, then she reached And when I'm flying 'round the world And I'm doin' this and I'm tryin' do that And I'm trying to make some girl who tells me "Baby-baby-baby-baby-baby" After the fifth “baby” she growled out “I HATE YOU” at Amethyst. In response to this Amethyst burst out into knee slapping laughter. Pearl cocked her head to the side as she listened to Peridot say the word “baby” over and over again. “How many babies are in this song?” she asked. “Thirty-seven,” Amethyst replied while wiping a tear from her eye.

For my tattoo artist and florist fanfic I tried to think of a band t-shirt to put Peri in and settled on Devo. One thing led to another and I imagined this scene and burst out laughing. So I drew it! Here's the song Peri's singing.

After breaking into her former home with the help of Pearl things are finally starting to hurt less for Peridot. She has her fluffy little dog back, her video games, old band t-shirts, and knowledge that there are people standing by her side. Life was really looking up.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

“You feel the bugle in his pants” - implies that this guy has a military horn in his pants, invites confusing questions like why does he have that and how big are his pockets

I looove when I get to insert a major scene I had written way in advance into my fanfic. I had to change things with this one a little because it was originally written with Peridot being in the throes of depression. She isn't anymore so a slight tweak was needed.
