Far too many people expect transmascs to just fall in line with the idea that transition erases the impact of their past experiences. That man who grew up the eldest daughter expected to raise his siblings while his brothers got to play doesn’t have his life rewritten once he starts testosterone. big fan of theresa’s hesitancy and general lack of enthusiasm towards committed romantic relationships. or maybe it’s more appropriate to say marriage. i do enjoy queer readings of her story but it’s something that’d remain were she 110% in love with henry. i agree that there’s a fear of (more) loss element here, but her reluctance was present in the before times too. when her dad brings up marriage her four responses are: i-ii) “i don’t want to” iii) “what are you talking about”, iv) “i guess i should…” her ass does not want it (for reasons that probably don't need to be explained)!!

the whole town knowing her dad planned on marrying her off to some rich guy probably damped her enthusiasm but she still bristles at the idea once he’s gone and she’s technically free to sleep with someone she actually likes. i like that if henry brings up marriage as the "obvious" next step she shuts it down in very very practical terms, outlining why it’d be ridiculous. it’s a very material argument, which is the only logical argument she can utilize (but also she’s arguing using the same framework that made her unable to argue against her dad trying to set her up with tobias feyfar).

think it is also v revealing when she worries what it would be like to be married to someone who can’t stay in place while she’s stuck at home. like, sure she doesn’t want to be lonely, but the contrast between them as she presents it stands out to me. tastes kind of bitter. she seems so frustrated to me!! even more frustrated because she’s fundamentally a very practical person! and i like that this frustration feels (to me) very palpable but it’s never precisely expressed or using modern framing

(i’m cynical enough to think that theresa could’ve been written this way so the player felt less guilt sleeping around but i) i’m always gonna eat up girl-doesn’t-want-to-get-married ii) it feels more genuine given the dlc, and more importantly iii) don’t want to think about WH too much)

I mean apart from the facial animations and the enemies waiting their turns it really doesn’t look that bad. Those cowards just won’t say why they have a problem with this game.

What I disliked a little was that when she’s entering the town she doesn’t seem to recognize or acknowledge any of the people she finds dead. It’s a shame, it makes the character and world feel a bit empty. But maybe the final version will be different.

Really hope this game will do well. Be profitable at least. I know I’ll be buying it in any case. Even if it’s buggy those devs can still have my euros.
