The tragedy of Josef Creep is that no matter what he does he will always be miserable. His favorite thing to do in the whole world is also the thing that brings him the most trauma and suffering; we see it time and again that who he truly is as this strange and off-putting person rears its head and pushes people away, either mentally, emotionally, or physically in how he murders them. He loves it, Peachfuzz loves it, but he also hates himself for not being able to keep the people he feels connection to around.

And in that way, I also feel like Angela is just another aspect of loving but hating the thing that he is, because they’re mirrors of each other. I see her as who Josef would be as a woman: provocative, messy, unable to remember much of the bad things, making shit up, trying to get others to do what she wants. And she’s as miserable as he is, if not more.
