Murphy’s Law states that anything can, and will go wrong, and Myungsoo, who wished for nothing more than a relaxing night out, received far more than he bargained for. His pace dies down, steps come to an end, and he rests the center of his palm against the temple of his forehead. His body is swerving, side to side in a slow, tedious sway as his eyelids are weighed down by the immutable need to sit down and rest. Myungsoo wasn’t feeling well, has tried to suppress this sensation multiple times, but each attempt served him no good. If anything, it only made the following symptoms worse. 

The immortal now finds himself leaning against a wall, bicep pressed t the flat of it as he involuntarily slides down the surface until his knees come crashing down against the cobblestone ridden pathway. Hallucinations appear, swerving images gracing his peripheral even whilst his eyes remain shut. He wasn’t anywhere near the right state of mind, thoughts of what he could have done before the incident have become a blur. He feels vulnerable, he feels weak, and he hates nothing more than weakness. 

“Fuck,” was the only comment earned from him, his voice breathless, void of wellness. He removes his hand from his cranium, presses it against the ground, before pushing himself up and onto his feet. What comes next in the immortal’s life is the sight of a woman, peeking through the narrow crack between the buildings to quench the curiosity coursing through her veins. Were her questions answered when she had seen him? Myungsoo doesn’t know, and he doesn’t really care to. 

He stares at her, eyes tracing the sharp slope of her brow and the cigarette jostled between her lips. She looks tough, fierce - the kind of woman overprotective parents would urge their children to stay away from, much like himself. His father has reminded him, multiple times, that he shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and this saying happens to share a relation when meeting new people. He’s the first to tear his gaze away from her, fingers curled into a tight fist, and he walks down the pathway, brushing past her within a matter of seconds. He doesn’t know her, and she doesn’t know him. There was no point in sticking around, but all thoughts flee his mind when he staggers off to the side, grips a lamp post within a closed fist, and groans. 

He can hear her follow him, her words poison to his ego. 

            “There’s medication for this sort of stuff, you know? Maybe you should take it.” 

Medication isn’t accessible after midnight; stores are closed and pharmacist / employees are resting in their homes. It takes him another minute to recollect himself, spine straightened and he begins walking once more, completely ignoring the female behind him. Maybe it was rude, maybe even selfish, but he doesn’t have time to spare a stranger. Not when he’s on the brim of losing consciousness.

Books have become the epitome of his life, they’ll be with him until the day he dies. His fingers brush along the upper right corner of the page once he finished reading the text, and habitually, his eyes fall upon the first word displayed on the next page. Myungsoo received this trait from both of his parents, who he would see engrossed in novels whenever they’re free, or are apart, and speaking of which, he was addressed by his father, whom just happened to be passing by. His head turns toward the elder’s direction, a twinge of curiosity and confusion flickers across his features from their sudden appearance. One, two, and three. The next three seconds are spent in silence, before the immortal speaks up, his voice naturally calm and soft spoken. “Yes?”

The heat was rising in Seoul and he was not looking forward to how humid it would be getting. Pulling at the collar of his t-shirt he tried to air himself off with little success. Sehun was coveting water desperately and looking at the local shops. Walking past a bubble tea shop he nearly turned around to enter it before reminding himself that “bubble tea is an abomination.” In his mind, bubble tea was almost as bad as iced tea—which he soon felt splattered all over his shirt and jeans. His eyes were immediately drawn to the dark and damp spots on his clothing and then he glanced back up to see a shorter male holding onto a plastic cup. 

 Sehun couldn’t blame the other male for wanting a nice, chilled drink on a warm day. What he could blame him for, and did, was the fact that he chose iced tea over anything else. Iced tea didn’t have the same properties as hot tea did. It certainly didn’t bring out the flavors nor the aromas that he found so comforting. He assumed that the spill was an accident, so he tried to shake it off. “Don’t worry about it…” The cold tea actually felt a little nice but soon it would heat up and instead he’d just have a warm, damp shirt sticking to his skin. 

“Do you h-have any napkins?”

Temperatures were beginning to rise, his mood was beginning to fall. Myungsoo ambles down the sidewalk, the seams of his lips connected to the straw protruding out from the plastic cup filled with ( black ) iced tea. Myungsoo hated the heat to begin with, but with summer just right around the corner, days like these were becoming too often of a return. He never benefited from hot days, for it only fed the festering chaos beneath his skin. Mind elsewhere, he paid no heed to his surroundings, and consequently, he bumps into another. His grip around the cup begins to slacken and he ends up spilling it on the stranger. For a sparse moment, he glances at the now-dark spot on their shirt, before his gaze levels over theirs. It isn’t often he finds himself looking up at someone, yet that mattered little.

Mindless behavior leads to unexpected accidents. Myungsoo had been too preoccupied with his thoughts to notice that someone was walking in the same direction as him. “Hold on.” He states, though annoyed, the expression doesn't show across his countenance; he maintains composure whilst sticking his hand inside the pocket of his jacket in search of his handkerchief, pads of his fingers brushing against the material, before he fishes it out from its confinements. He lifts his arm, offering the nearly folded cloth toward the male. “Here,” he begins, taking a step back to return the space he had unintentionally stolen from them. “If you need more, I’ll return to the cafe and get some. It isn’t far from here.”

As she was munching a bread on a hand (thank you, Soojung), she feels her phone vibrate inside her pocket. It was a little surprising, especially since she wasn’t expecting anything, unless it was a call from someone who happens to be very busy that day that she knew not to resent. Swiping her thumb over her screen was the next thing she did, letting her fingers tap across the ‘open’ button, and reads, brows furrowing at the statement that she sees before adding a quick reply by the bottom.

The faint scent of roses lingered in his office, but the refined atmosphere of the place was summarily shattered by the silent thrum of his phone atop the desk located in front of the window. He was there, too, but that mattered little. Seulgi’s name appeared on the screen, accompanied by short previews of the message she had sent him. He reaches for the device, thumb swiping across the screen in a subconscious gesture as he rereads over each message twice. Though curt, a smirk donned his lips.

Uncivil, he thinks.

Stubborn, he knows. 

( sms: Kang Seulgi ) Cute. ( sms: Kang Seulgi ) I’ll be there in fifteen minutes to pick it up.

Message sent, phone stashed in his pocket. Myungsoo doesn’t wait for her to respond, he doesn’t care for whatever she has to say. He’s the owner of the jacket, and as the owner, he was going to pick it up whether she gave him permission or not. Stepping around the desk, the pads of his fingers brush along the surface as he proceeds toward the exit of his home. It takes him no longer than two minutes, a spare jacket fetched on the way out. Night has befallen the city; it’s his favorite time of day.

            Oh, words that he feared so much, they finally came to crawl into the depths of his mind, spoken my lips that shouldn’t have been parted, a voice that didn’t belong to the moment, a fact that should’ve stayed hidden. The impact against his chest was something like a violent wave from the ocean, perhaps a punch from curled fingers, or maybe the strangulation of strong arms–whatever was it, knocked the air out of his lungs to its last bits, leaving nothing, zero to be used by his body. The situation remained for some following seconds, ones that felt like a while eternity as deep, dark orbs came to meet the other male’s. Secret … a secret he has been holding back, hiding with all sorts and meanings possible, a secret that should never be outed to the world, yes, someone knew. The young photographer’s voice way shaky, probably because the rush going through his veins was too overwhelming and the fear had already consumed every last bit of his being.

“You … can’t. T-There is n-no way. You’re joking. No one knows. You don’t know. Shut … shut up.“

Consternation donned their countenance, indifference ( with an unnoticeable twinge of amusement ) donned his. It was not the first time he’d seen the male before him, however, it was the first time he’d done something other than stand back and observe them from afar. They managed to spark his curiosity, and that’s what led them to the predicament that they’re in today. Fear is the first thing he noticed, inability to speak clearly was the next. Myungsoo can feel the anxiety festering the chaos beneath their skin, and oh, how it does no more than fuel his entertainment. He doesn’t move just yet, keeps a good two yards between he and the other male, as his gaze studies the onslaught of emotion that flickers across their visage. He wonders how much longer than can do this; how much longer they have until composure and resistance is ripped apart by an imposing presence. His imposing presence.

”Save your breath. There’s no point in wasting your time when the answer is written all over your face, Thomas Oh.”

eyes narrowing at the male, she lets out a quick scoff– the exasperated roll of her eyes soon following before she made a slight turn with her head to rest her chin back on the mattress. “i would relax, if you were not using enough strength to break my bones or something.” she grumbled. she’d kindly asked for a massage from the guy, betting that he was going to turn her down flat, but when he didn’t, it earned a surprised ‘oh’ from her before she found herself collapsing on the bed with a quiet ‘oof’. “you haven’t done this much before, have you?”

Myungsoo wasn’t entirely sure how he got caught up in this situation, one in which he had agreed to free the female of her troubles with a massage, though, there was one problem. He wasn’t a masseur, he doesn’t know where to begin. Both of his palms are rested against the small of her back, pads of his thumbs pressing down on the clothed flesh in hopes of working out a kink, yet with the response that she’d given him, he realizes that he was doing any but. “Never.” He doesn’t say anything more, there was no reason for him to. A pause is taken, monochrome hues flicker down the shape of her physique before he eases the amount of pressure he’d been using to massage ( if one could really refer to what he’d been doing as that ) her, using half the strength this time. “Is this better?”

    [ 開始 ▪ ▪ ▪ ]  Wasn’t it obvious? In a hushed tone, Jaehong leaned closer and started explaining his actions,  ❝ Duh. We’re about to go into a dark haunted mansion. If we don’t hold hands, we could get separated. I’m not good when I’m alone in the dark. ❞ Jaehong loved haunted attractions at boardwalks. They were scary, but never too scary. Deciding to try once more, Jaehong reached out and grabbed onto the other male’s hand, locking their fingers together tightly. Leaning closer once more, Jaehong whispered,  ❝ By the way… My name’s Jaehong. ❞

That was the first word that came to mind, swimming through the torrent of his thoughts that were unfazed by prospect of the haunted house he’d soon encounter. He could still feel the ghost of their touch from the first attempt they’d made in holding his hand, and, although needless to say, he was not fond of the intimate nature. His steals a glance at the frail-looking male beside them, before he’s turning his head to face them. “If you’re that desperate to hold someone’s hand, go and hold his. He needs it. I don’t.” He states, tone serene with each word that was uttered, though, the spirit disappears when they’d taken his hand once more - grip tighter than it had been previously, irritation bathes into his features. “Myungsoo,” was the only thing he’d given in response to their introduction, and he pries his hand out of their grip, gaze trained ahead. “Don’t hold my hand.”

"Do I know you?" she nudges, the same smile curled on her lips as she reaches to wrap an arm around his neck, tugging him down since she's too small to actually push herself up to his level. "Okay, so we'll have a deal today. If you allow me to treat you for some food, I'll be your friend."

It’s the vaguely familiar tone of another that drew his attention away from the phone in hand and he glances over his shoulder to look at them, only to realize that their arm was now draped around his shoulder. It’s a woman, not just any woman, but the woman he had met not too long ago. If he recalled correctly, her name is Kang Seulgi. His eyes flicker over hers and their gazes clash, wordless holds his tongue prisoner for three seconds longer before he speaks, and when he does, bewilderment does not stray far from his usual monotonous tone. “You’re a little bold, aren’t you? We just met, and you’re already inviting me out to eat.” He begins, subconsciously sliding his phone into the back pocket of his jeans. Myungsoo was both intrigued and baffled by the female. “I’ll go with you, only as long as you let me take care of the bill.”

“I can take care of myself, thank you very much.” she mutters, although the fall is something that she will never admit that hurt, despite the phenomenon being her fault, anyway. She collided with him, the tall, lean man who she found loitering around the place, as she was trying to escape. Apparently, they have two different views about this; that she’s being chased (which is true, but she will never admit that), she needs help (which is also true, but she’s stubborn to actually believe that, either).

To tell the truth, she was running away because of her own problems. The things that she started ignoring when she knew that there’s nothing she could actually do to face them, despite the lack of her own intuition of actually surviving a life that she had grown to love, despite the things that her doctor told her, that everything will be alright, that things will soon come back to normal, she couldn’t do it anymore.

Maybe some things are made to give up on.

And this time, it’s herself.

Seulgi realizes that she’s still on top of the man’s body, she had been having some inner battles with herself for quite sometime now, apparently, as she took a glimpse of the man’s face, and that he seemed a little irritated about it so she had to push herself up with a grunt. People these days, maybe this is why she tries and actually avoid everything around her, it would just make her regret that she had been… retaliating, over the past few days of being frustrated that nothing happens to the medicine given to her, the other one is actually something that helps her to breathe at times she couldn’t do so, but if she overdoses herself, she will probably have a hard time—actually, she will never have time at all.

She looks around, it seems like the nurses gave up on trying to find her. It’s funny how she would always find someone along the way whenever she’s hiding, some became her friend, some became an enemy, but mostly became strangers once again as she was left hanging and told not to run away like a child anymore. Running away became a habit now, but her chest is slightly clenching, and her legs are probably going to give up on her, too, in a few minutes so she needs to rest. “Since I think I owe you something— would you, perhaps, want to accompany me for some coffee?”

Mistakes are mundane, everyone makes them, though some more often than not. And on days like this, where both the sidewalks and streets were filled with restless pedestrians and vehicles, a mistake was bound to happen sooner or later, only Myungsoo didn’t think that he’d been one of the poor, unfortunate souls who’d be involved in one. 

That was his first mistake.

It wasn’t the first time he encountered something he wasn’t prepared for. Before the incident occurred, he recalled traveling the expanse of Incheon’s sidewalks whilst immersed in his thoughts when he collided with another individual, a woman, to be exact. It had knocked him off of his feet and sent him plummeting toward the ground. His forearms automatically pressed themselves to the flat of the pavement to keep from sinking any further, though, that option was eliminated when the reason behind said incident had fallen on top of him. He groaned, low and deep in the back of his throat as his eyes slipped closed, and he prepared himself for the ( unwanted ) meeting with the ground. Eventually, it came, and so did the pain that graced through his system. 

This was his second mistake.

A wise man once told him to treat others the way he wants to be treated himself, and that has been a vice of his ever since he was a child. Myungsoo wasn’t upset with her, there was no reason to be. Accidents happen, they’re normal. He compresses the palms of his hands atop the solid surface, pressure increased, and he pushes himself off the ground in one swift movement. He could feel the aftermath of the collision lingering in his lower back - the pain that shoots down his spine lasted ten seconds before dispersing with the breath of air that he took. “You don’t owe me anything,” he begins, words tripping smoothly from the tips of his tongue as he spoke in a soft, understanding tone, he raises his head and his gaze levels over her own. She was beautiful, quite beautiful indeed. He’d always been fond of woman with long hair, and hers suit his taste perfectly, though, that mattered little. “I’d love to, however, allow me to be the one who treats you, miss.”
