I already saw "hoppers" and I need to share an alternate universe I just created because why hasn't anyone done this?

Plot Summary: The plot is similar to the original story, only... What would have happened if Jerry had been the one who accidentally used Hoppers technology? And… I'm giving Jerry more character backstory—because who wouldn't love to see the selfish character redeem himself by being forcibly turned into a beaver.
I'm already working on some one-shot sequels to this AU, because to summarize the movie in a fanfic, I need to watch the movie again, but it's not available for streaming yet, so I'm suffering.

Plot of the movie in this AU:
A few years ago, a boy named Jerry loved nature
He visits his mother, who lives near the forest, and together they take walks to a forest clearing inhabited by numerous wild animals. Inspired by his mother, Jerry develops a deep appreciation for nature and continues to observe the clearing even after his parents' divorce.
At Beaverton school one day, Jerry takes several class pets to try and free them, but accidentally activates a fire sprinkler and gets into trouble.
Shortly afterwards, he is sent to a boarding school (his father's idea, who hates his son's "wild" attitude) so that he can "mature".
That completely eliminates that "wild" side of Jerry

Years later, the city's now mayor, Jerry, announces plans to replace the clearing with a highway, claiming that all the animals have left (he used a fake tree with a horn to scare the animals away, so they wouldn't get hurt during construction.)
Mabel, a 19-year-old animal rights activist, tries to rebel against their plans, but receives no support. Her dedication to saving the glade leads her to miss her university studies, much to the frustration of her science teacher, Dr. Sam. However, Dr. Sam maintains that the beavers could save the glade.
That same night, while she was trying to lure a beaver into the forest clearing, Jerry, seeking some peace, went to the construction site.
There he sees from afar Mabel who had put vegetables in the middle of the empty lake to attract animals (it didn't work).
Jerry stays to keep an eye on Mabel in case she tries anything else.
Then that strange beaver appeared.
Jerry ends up following Mabel, who was following the fake beaver.
Then he saw them taking the beaver away as if they were kidnapping it, putting it in a van.
Mabel followed the van, and Jerry followed Mabel to a university laboratory.
While Mabel infiltrates, Jerry intercepts her and interrogates her in whispers, but they both hide from the strange beaver who seems to have overheard them.
Then the beaver enters the laboratory and deactivates.
Mabel tries to take the beaver with her, but Jerry stops her and the scientists prevent them from leaving.
Jerry and Mabel discover that Dr. Sam and her colleagues had developed the "Hoppers," a technology that allows humans to "jump" into the minds of lifelike robotic animals to experience the world from their perspective.
Seeing this as an opportunity to save the glade, Mabel wants to use technology to find a beaver and bring the animals back to protect the glade.
Jerry stops him (he doesn't want Mabel to ruin the new highway; the pressure of being re-elected is clouding his judgment)
They both struggle until Mabel accidentally pushes Jerry into the chair where the mind-transfer helmet for hoppers was located, which activates and closes around his head.
Jerry entered the mind of the robot beaver against Dr. Sam's wishes.
And Jerry panics… and escapes from the lab… only to be captured by an owl and thrown into the clearing.
Now Mabel must find him (Dr. Sam gives her permission to follow him with a smaller, more agile beaver to avoid any misfortune)

Meanwhile, with Jerry
Upon waking up frightened in the forest clearing, Jerry tries to ask the other animals to help him get to the clearing (he plans to go from there to the university and ask the doctors to reverse this), but no one volunteers.
not until Jerry finally stumbles upon Loaf, a peaceful beaver who is about to be eaten by Ellen, a brown bear.
This breaks one of the rules of the clearing (if you need to eat, do it).
After preventing Ellen from eating Loaf, they take him to the "Super Shelter," where other displaced animals live surrounded by a huge dam.
Jerry meets King George, who explains the rules of the clearing to him.
Meanwhile, Mabel, Conner, and Nisha infiltrate, disguised as Beaver, Stork, and Rabbit, respectively, to spy on Jerry in the clearing.
…
Jerry learns a little about the animals' situation... He begins to doubt whether what he is doing is right; he knows it isn't, but the pressure from the human world is great and he feels he must follow what others ask of him.
Jerry pushes those thoughts aside and decides to leave. Jerry asks to be taken to the clearing, but King George tells him no (genuinely worried about his safety).
Jerry asks why not, and after explaining that the animals had moved away from the clearing due to a deafening noise, Jerry remembers the artificial tree that emits sounds and, realizing that he cannot hear the sounds of the natural world, he enters into a conflict.
Jerry doesn't know whether to deactivate the tree or continue on his way…
But seeing the animals' suffering, he decides that... it will only be a few minutes; then he will return and take care of relocating everyone to a place where there is less overpopulation.
Jerry then awakens that wild side he had forgotten in his childhood.
Jerry climbs the tree to try to disable the horn, but then Mabel appears, confused to see Jerry up in a tree. She climbs up to find out what he's planning, and when she realizes that Jerry is up in the tree, she explodes in anger and starts trying to pull the tree down (with both of them still up there).
Jerry tries to grab onto the tree from above (he regrets his idea because it's too high) and then Conner appears (the man who accompanies scientists Nisha and Sam, uses Hoppers technology to become a bird and take Jerry away; he apologizes to Jerry for being rough)
Jerry and Conner struggle; Jerry clings to the tree, causing it to fall.
The animals celebrate excitedly
Jerry becomes the unexpected hero...
The animals return to inhabit the clearing, forming a very strong dam, and Jerry finally decides to leave.
Jerry tries to leave then, and Mabel intercepts him and they argue again about whether they should leave. Jerry agrees, but they both argue about whether or not Jerry should cancel the highway thing.
Mabel tries to take Jerry away, but Jerry and Mabel are summoned by King George (who believes they both helped pull down the fake tree).
Jerry and Mabel have no choice but to go with George.
That night, as he swims forward, Jerry has difficulty swimming like a beaver.
Mabel too, although she does it better.
Then King George helps them, takes them by their little feet and guides them, teaching them to swim with their hind legs and tails
George asks them if their parents didn't teach them to swim; Jerry and Mabel say "no" at the same time, and Mabel says that, for the most part, her parents didn't teach her much.
Jerry lets slip that that's just how parents are… he briefly mentions that his father sent him to boarding school.
George asks him what that is, Jerry explains it, and George associates it with being banished…
George confesses that he was an outcast and expelled by his father, recalling how after the death of the previous king (his father), George was elected king and returned to the clearing
The other two listen, and think that King George's father is terrible.
George tells them that he has always believed that everyone can be good at heart, even his father, who did what he could despite his paranoia that everyone was against him.
Mabel tells her that not everyone is good.
Jerry agrees with Mabel (a surprise)
George says that everyone can be good, humans included, because "we're all in this together" (another of the clearing's rules).
Then Jerry says something like, "I know humans, I know they're not good... they just take things and they're selfish, they crush you, and they humiliate you and—and they force you to be like everyone else."
Mabel is a little surprised by this comment
George asks him how he's so sure of that
Jerry replies, "I know because I-" and falls silent, realizing something...
He had no right to say anything to her... He was just as bad as all the other humans... He himself knows that his decisions are destroying the clearing...
But instead of telling her the truth, he says, "Because I'm sure..."
The king then suggests swimming for a while, so the three of them explore the clearing
Jerry lets his wild side out again, and enjoys the freedom of being a beaver.
The group arrives at the Super Hostel and rests for a while.
George then gets down on one knee and… (Jerry and Mabel misinterpret this as a marriage proposal) And asks her to be “the king’s paw” (i.e., his royal advisor)
Mabel and Jerry are surprised, to which George explains that he wants Jerry to be his advisor, partner, and best friend, and since he has no children, the destined successor to be king.
Oh, Mabel is offered it too, since George thinks they are both very wise.
Jerry feels something warm, but Mabel wants to tell the truth
George places a small mud paw print on each of their chests, a symbol that they are the king's paw.
Just as Mabel was about to reveal their true identities to George, the animals return to the Super Shelter after someone built more trees that emit sounds and destroyed the clearing's dam.
That surprises Jerry; he didn't order that... one tree would have been enough... it wasn't necessary... much less destroying the clearing's dam.
…
So Jerry tries to go to the clearing and quietly look for the scientists.
Meanwhile, Mabel (who believes Jerry is running away from his responsibilities) and George go and organize a meeting with the Animal Council at the Super Shelter, which is attended by monarchs representing the classes of Insects, Amphibians, Fish, Reptiles and Birds, with George representing the mammals.
Mabel unwittingly convinces the council to assassinate the human king (Jerry points him out as the culprit without revealing his identity)
Mabel backs down, George begs them not to harm the human king
After a heated argument with the Insect Queen, Mabel squashes her to death, making Mabel a target of the Animal Council as she and George flee.
Meanwhile, Jerry encounters Nisha and Conner, who try to lead him to the clearing, but then they run into George and Mabel, who are fleeing from the council.
Nisha and Conner's robotic bodies are destroyed by the animals that are chasing them.
Mabel, Jerry, and George jump off a cliff into a river after being cornered by the Reptile Queens.
Now that he knows that robotic animals exist, Titus, the Insect Prince, seeks revenge on Mabel while taking his mother's place and beginning his metamorphosis into a butterfly.
…
The group leaves the river; Jerry helps George while Mabel tries to come up with a new plan
George goes off to try and think of something, ignoring Jerry and Mabel.
Jerry questions Mabel about what the hell she did, and Mabel tells him what she caused; she blames Jerry for it, for building the highway and taking the animals away.
Jerry accuses Mabel of turning everyone against him and saying that everyone wants to kill him.
They continue arguing until she confesses that she feels powerless to protect what she loves, revealing her precious memories with her grandmother.
Jerry then says something that makes her think: "And you think I should die for that?"
They both fall silent… Jerry admits he was wrong… but he wants to stop the destruction… he doesn’t want to hurt the animals… he never meant to hurt anyone.
Jerry glimpses how the road is almost finished… The look of guilt in his eyes surprises Mabel
Jerry admits he never wanted this life… that he once wanted to take care of nature… until the world taught him that animals have no say… He talks about how at boarding school he was forced to see many mistreated animals… just to teach him what happens to those who disobey…
Jerry feels…powerless because he's let everyone walk all over him his whole life… He just wanted people to love him and stop doubting him…
Now… she just wants to prevent more animals from suffering…
George approaches, not knowing what's happening; he sees his two advisors crying and talking sadly… George hugs them both and assures them that everything will be alright.
Although initially angry that Mabel undermined his authority, George agrees to help her protect the human king (not knowing that this is Jerry).
With the help of Ellen, Loaf, and Tom Lizard, they search for the scientists at the university to ask for their help (they were already out looking for Jerry and Mabel).
The animals (Jerry and company) manage to locate them; they head to the clearing (because the time limit is running out, the side effects will be brain damage and headaches if they don't return Jerry and Mabel to their bodies)
By kidnapping the guy who authorized the fake trees and the dam, they end up using his phone's text-to-speech and emoji function; they get the guy to drive towards them.
Dr. Sam and her colleagues are waiting for them in their van near the construction site.
Meanwhile, the Animal Council pursues them (Jerry and Mabel's group) by releasing a shark named Diane in an attempt to kill them all.
Mabel, George, and Jerry escape from Diane when they crash their car near the clearing.
While Mabel argues with Jerry about what to do while the Council is pursuing them, the group agrees to split up; Jerry will go with the scientists and Mabel will stay with the animals in her group.
They lie to George, telling him that Jerry will go to the human king to ask for help.
Jerry runs and arrives with the scientists, who prepare everything to return Jerry to his body.
But George thought the humans were kidnapping Jerry, so he raced to stop them.
Conner grabs Jerry and detaches him from the robotic beaver, leaving him weak and dazed in his human body.
While George is confused and saddened to see Jerry Castor's lifeless body, he tries to take the beaver's body away while seemingly trying to ask Jerry for help (believing he is the human king).
Jerry, in his human body, tries to prevent George from getting scared, tries to talk to him, but falls to the ground, dazed and dizzy.
He manages to place his finger on the robotic beaver's chest (where the paw print indicates it's the "king's paw"), causing George to discover the truth…
Jerry was the human king…
George is hurt by the lies, but Jerry sees the Council approaching; Jerry covers George with his body before falling unconscious and they are all captured by the Council.
…
Jerry wakes up and sees Mabel in her human body; both are tied to chairs.
The Council is in Dr. Sam's lab and forces the scientists to create a replica of Jerry for Titus, now turned into a butterfly.
Titus plans to impersonate Jerry and use the frequencies emitted by the trees to destroy the brains of people attending a political rally in the clearing.
Realizing that this is all his fault, Jerry sees George, who, despite wanting to help, is unable to, and leaves with the council and Titus.
Jerry finally breaks down and apologizes to Mabel for everything…
But Mabel also asks for forgiveness; she let her anger cloud her judgment, and that caused so much destruction and endangered everyone.
Mabel reconciles with Jerry and they both agree to work together to save everyone
Luckily, Jerry was tied to the chair where the beaver was transferred.
Jerry transfers his mind to the robotic beaver to free them both.
…
At the meeting, just as Titus is about to activate the sonic trees, the real Jerry in his human body appears and tries to reason with him, while Mabel helps free Dr. Sam and her colleagues in their van (the group uses the remaining robots to confront the animals).
Mabel is going to help Jerry
Meanwhile, Jerry tries to talk to Titus, trying to convince him that they can fix things, but Titus refuses.
Jerry, letting his wild side out, and with the help of his allies, frees Titus from the Jerry robot, which is quickly reversed because the council members destroy the robots, causing Titus to use the robot again.
Jerry and Titus fight over Jerry's phone, and it ends up flying into one of the trees.
Titus chases Jerry to one of the sonic trees to retrieve Jerry's phone after he knocked it onto the tree (that's where the app that controls the fake trees is located).
while Titus destroys Jerry's robotic body in the process of retrieving the phone.
Jerry removes the rubber mask from the robot Titus, preventing it from activating the trees because facial recognition blocks it.
In his frustration, Titus reveals that he wants to rule over all species, leaving the Council stunned.
The tree falls, destroying the robot Jerry and causing a massive forest fire that quickly spreads to the city.
Meanwhile, Titus, in his original body, escapes declaring that he will have his revenge.
…
Jerry tries to stop the fire, Mabel arrives and tries to do the same, burning her grandmother's jacket in the process
Mabel realizes she can't save the clearing, but Jerry doesn't give up, burning his arm in the process, while Mabel tries to pull him away from danger.
George manages to save Jerry from a falling tree, but George is trapped under it. Jerry helps him out, carries him, and decides they must leave. The three of them are then caught in the devastating fire.
The animals Ellen and Loaf arrive to get them out of there
Once at the super-shelter, Mabel realizes that the fire is heading towards the city.
Jerry thinks the only way to save the city is by destroying the dam.
George comes to the same idea and agrees with Jerry.
Jerry realizes what he's planning and asks him if he's sure.
George nods, and when Jerry and Mabel kneel before him, George places a paw print on them, symbolizing that he considers them the "king's paw" once again.
George orders all the animals to destroy the dam covering the Super Shelter,
All the animals unite and break the dam.
The cameras capture everything from helicopters
Jerry then realizes that one more hit is needed...
But that means someone would have to...risk their life...
Jerry pushes Mabel and George...
And delivers the final blow to the prey.
The dam breaks and pulls Jerry in.
causing a flash flood that extinguishes the fire.
Mabel and George run to find Jerry
They find him half-conscious, but alive.
...
After all the chaos, Jerry and his workers arrive to clean up the mess. With Mabel's help, they both agree to work together to protect this place...
…
The highway is rerouted and the clearing in the forest is declared a nature reserve.
Later, Mabel graduates from college and, although the Hoppers program is suspended for safety reasons, Dr. Sam hires her as her assistant, as she has many other ideas in mind.
Jerry then arrives and offers to sponsor Hoppers' research, which makes Mabel very happy.
…
After that, upon reaching the large rock by the pond, they find George, who continues to interact with them through the text-to-speech function and emojis on Jerry's phone.
It is revealed that the doctor managed to create a safer device so that Jerry and Mabel can be beavers again, and thus be able to alternate between the two.
In the end, George becomes a father figure to Jerry and Mabel.
