‘Fresh Off the Boat’ Sneak Peek: Eddie’s an 8th Grader Now, Son!

They grow up so fast, don’t they?

Fresh Off the Boat goes back to school in this week’s new episode, and Eddie (Hudson Yang) is now in eighth grade. But in this exclusive clip, he frets about being cool on the first day of school.

“We need to walk in either with fresh gear or a great story,” he tells his friends while they sit in lawn chairs on the driveway and contemplate the new year.

Well, Trent (Trevor Larcom) has fresh gear — fresh from the Atlanta Olympics! And it features the official mascot, Izzy Whatizit. Ummm … OK, maybe it’s better to have a story?

But as Dave (Evan Hannemann) points out, “We’re eighth graders now. We don’t need stories.” They’re practically men. Yeah! And, of course, that leads Eddie to daydream about their manly entrance into the first day of school.

‘Super Soul Sunday’ Sneak Peek: Pastor Carl Lentz Talks Justin Bieber’s Baptism

Even rich and famous superstars go through rocky times and turn to their faith to help them through it.

That’s what Carl Lentz, the lead pastor at Hillsong Church in New York City, describes about his experience baptizing singer Justin Bieber in this exclusive clip from OWN’s Super Soul Sunday.

Lentz is the latest guest on the show, which features Oprah Winfrey conducting issues-driven interviews with a variety of subjects.

As Lentz tells host Winfrey, Bieber’s “baptism was a moment where he was going through it and he was pulling himself up.” Lentz is referring to a troubled time in the singer’s life, as he made headlines for egging neighbors’ houses, reckless driving, smoking pot, and making racist jokes. “Whether it’s trying to figure out who you are, the people in your life, the choices he had made — he got to a place where he said, ‘I want to start fresh,’” Lentz says.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Tweet-Cap: Miracles Can Happen

Warning: This recap for the “Falling Slowly” episode of Grey’s Anatomy contains spoilers.

Real love is accepting someone, flaws and all.

That’s the theme in Grey’s Anatomy‘s big case of the week, a couple who survive a glider crash, and that’s the theme among the doctors, with storylines focusing on Amelia/Owen and Jackson/April.

It’s not surprising to see some bumps in the road for the former couple, since they got married after, like, five seconds of knowing each other. As for the latter, well, they got divorced for a reason.

The theme is also echoed in other relationships, like Alex and Jo, who still have so many secrets and so much unsaid between them. Now, he’s banished to the hospital version of hell. Can he claw his way back out? Can these two crazy kids say what’s been unsaid and accept each other’s flaws? Only time will tell.

Clinical depression

Alex did a very bad thing when he beat up DeLuca, but man, working at the clinic… well, let’s all just pray for him.

His boss, a nurse named Tamir, is a total hardass who doesn’t give him an inch. Alex’s first case in the clinic is a simple abscess, but Tamir warns him not to pick up a scalpel. All he can do is page surgery… because Alex isn’t a surgeon in the clinic. He’s just a scut worker.

In bed, Amelia and Owen make post-coital pillow talk… except it’s more like a quiz show. Amelia learns that Owen goes to church. What else doesn’t she know about him? How does he want to raise their kids? He’s excited she wants kids, but she screeches that they don’t know each other well enough yet.

At the hospital, Riggs tries to get closer to Meredith by asking her to “hang out” (it’s a date). Meredith continues to rebuff him. “We’re not that kind of friends,” she says before leaving.

Mer is called to a trauma coming in from the helipad. Owen is working with her and vents about Amelia’s tendency to latch onto things, like a shark. She sympathizes.

They get that case of the husband and wife involved in a glider crash. He turns out to be a paraplegic, and it’s cute how much the couple care about each other as they yell “I love you” from adjoining ER rooms.

Bailey meets with DeLuca to talk about the hospital’s internal review and how they’ve complied with the district attorney’s requests. But, she adds, he shouldn’t talk to anybody about the case. He shrugs sadly — nobody wants to talk to him anyway!

As Owen scans the wife, Amelia pops in, still in quiz mode. When did he lose his father? Why did he join the Army? And on and on. The matter isn’t helped when Riggs clearly knows more about Owen than she does.

Meanwhile, neither April nor Jackson seem to be getting a wink of sleep. He complains to Ben about April, she complains to Arizona about Jackson. And of course, Harriet isn’t sleeping through the night.

At the clinic, Alex treats an underage woman named Emma who is clearly drunk. All she wants is an IV and to leave. Tamir tries to hurry him along, but Alex is clearly torn about his duty to do something helpful.

Owen finishes his scan of the wife and believes they should operate to remove her spleen. Also, her aorta isn’t looking great. Meredith disagrees, saying they should just monitor her for now. And Riggs takes her side. Hmmm, is he doing it to get on her good side?

See something, say something

Arizona and Jo run into DeLuca in the hall, and the former is amazed by his facial recovery — good job, Jackson! She asks about the trial, but he brushes her off, saying he can’t talk about it.

It’s a ladies + Alex lunch, as Meredith, Amelia, and Maggie schlep down to the clinic to have a bite with him. Amelia is still on this “knowing everything about Owen” thing. See, she thinks if he knows her deep, dark scary secrets, he won’t love her anymore.

Tamir breaks up their party, ordering Alex to see to Emma. First, he gives her a stupid brochure. Then, he yells at her for partying too much. She replies that she only had one beer. As he berates her, Richard steps in to stop him. Well, apparently, he came at Alex’s behest to talk some sense into Emma.

In the “real” part of the hospital, the crash wife’s spleen ruptures and her aorta is dissecting. She needs surgery, stat. Owen is pissed, because he wanted to do this in the first place.

Back in the clinic, Richard tries to talk to Emma, bringing up his own experience with AA. She becomes agitated, once again insisting she’s not an alcoholic. As she gets out of the bed, her shoulder dislocates! And she just puts it back in, as though she’s done this time and time again.

More Jackson/April drama! Jackson is still venting to Ben about April’s early morning coffee-making habit. She huffs to Arizona that she’s trying to be the perfect guest. Both Ben and Arizona counsel their friends to talk to each other and that maybe it’s time for April to move out of Jackson’s apartment.

With Emma’s case seemingly closed, Alex takes off for his legal appointment. But as the bus is about to pull away, he has a major light-bulb moment. He takes Emma’s charts to Richard and lists her symptoms. Richard also has a major light-bulb moment. Turns out Emma has a rare disease — and Alex has just saved her life. He won’t take credit for it, though.

Amelia is STILL obsessing over how much she knows about Owen. In fact, she feels like she knows more about Stephanie — her sickle cell anemia, her taste for mushrooms, etc.

Flaws and all

After the crash wife’s surgery, the doctors discover she’s been paralyzed from the waist down. Owen goes nuts on Riggs and Meredith for voting against him. After he leaves, Meredith accuses Riggs of siding with her because of their “thing.” He is offended. “I agreed with you because you were right, not because you were you.”

Meredith takes the crash husband to see his wife. He feels enormously guilty for causing the situation and paralyzing his wife. She tells him to buck up and be there for her.

Jackson comes home to find April with their (finally!) sleeping daughter. After a dumb argument about the TV, they finally talk about their issues. She offers to move out, but Jackson doesn’t want her to. And she doesn’t want to, either. She will, however, stop making the damn coffee in the morning.

Owen and Amelia go to bed, but she is clearly still agitated. She finally confesses everything about her former fiancé, who died of a drug overdose after they’d used together. He admits that he once choked Cristina during a PTSD nightmare. They’ve both done terrible things. But they’ll make beautiful babies! And they should start trying immediately.

Meredith finds Riggs outside the hospital. She declares that she can’t do this anymore — she doesn’t want to question her medical decisions, or his. “Let’s just be colleagues,” she says.

He playfully suggests that colleagues is a little aloof — can’t they be friends? Maggie comes upon them in that moment, and they play it off as Riggs wanting to be friends with her. Sigh. Meredith, you of all people must know that secrets will get out, someday.

‘Once Upon a Time’ Sneak Peek: Rumplestiltskin Has a New Look

Extreme makeover, Once Upon a Time edition!

Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) is sporting a whole new look in this week’s new episode of Once Upon a Time. In this exclusive clip, the Dark One gets a spiffy haircut — and the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) is impressed.

“Wow! Look who cleans up nice,” she purrs. “I like it — highlights your eyes.”

(Fun fact: Carlyle got that haircut for his role in Trainspotting 2, the sequel to the 1996 cult fave film. The creators of OUAT decided to incorporate it into the show’s storyline.)

Except there’s one problem: Seems that Hyde is impervious to his magic!

‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: Bruno Mars Is Adorably Nervous as First-Time Host

A Saturday Night Live host’s first time can be nerve-racking. This week, Girl on the Train star Emily Blunt will get to experience that as she takes the stage at Studio 8H. But maybe she can pick up a few pointers and tips from her musical guest, Bruno Mars.

The singer not only hosted in 2012, he pulled double duty as the musical guest too. And Mars did not disappoint; in fact, he proved he’s an able comedian and talented actor who pulled off many sketches with charm and ease.

It all started with his monologue, when Mars admitted to some nervousness about acting. “I’ve never even done a shampoo commercial,” he said, pointing to his full mane of hair, “which is crazy.”

Then, naturally, he did what he does best: croon. “What have I done?” he sang. “Will I someday regret this? Is it a terrible mistake? Can I put aside my fears? Can I be like Timberlake?”

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Sneak Peek: Will Meredith ‘Hang Out’ With Riggs?

Oooh, someone on Grey’s Anatomy has a crush!

Of course, even just a simple crush can be oh-so-complicated on the Shonda Rhimes drama. In this exclusive sneak peek from this week’s new episode, it’s Riggs (Martin Henderson) who’s crushing on Meredith (Ellen Pompeo).

“You and I should hang out. Together. Somewhere that isn’t here, like a … a movie?” he suggests in a totally (fake) chill, totally (not) casual way.

But their budding maybe-relationship is very much complicated by the fact that Mer’s sister, Maggie (Kelly McCreary), has been crushing on Riggs and has asked him out. He turned her down, so maybe now he and Meredith can be in the clear?

But Riggs isn’t one to back down without a gentle fight — he’s a man who knows what he wants. And what he wants is Dr. Meredith Grey.

‘Eyewitness’: Watch the Intense First 12 Minutes of USA’s New Crime Thriller

It’s the wrong place, the wrong time, and a whole world of trouble on USA’s new crime thriller Eyewitness.

Yahoo TV presents the first 12 minutes of the intense drama, which introduces Sheriff Helen Torrance (Julianne Nicholson), who oversees the safety of her small town. Her job consists mainly of small problems, like a fallen tree on a road, but she’s about to get the case of her life.

Two teen boys, outsider Philip (Tyler Young) and popular kid Lukas (James Paxton), go on a dirt bike expedition and then engage in a romantic interlude at a remote lakeside cabin. But their steamy hookup is interrupted by the arrival of some shady guys — who have a captive locked up in the trunk. One of those shady guys is actually an undercover FBI agent.

Lukas and Philip’s lives are about to get completely upturned when a shootout takes place. They vow not to tell anyone about what happened, but Sheriff Torrance will soon be on the hunt for clues at the deadly crime scene. How long can they keep their secret? And what exactly were those shady guys up to?

Eyewitness premieres Sunday, Oct. 16 at 10 p.m. on USA.

‘Once Upon a Time’ Hero and Villain of the Week: Rising From the Ashes

At what cost does someone get their happy ending?

This week on Once Upon a Time, Emma ponders this question as she realizes that she’s fought for everybody else’s happy endings — but she might not get hers. No, instead, as the Savior, she seems bound for a terrible, bloody, tragic death.

In the other main story, we see that Cinderella’s happy ending came at a tragic cost to someone in her life. We’ve seen Cinderella’s backstory before, but not this facet. All we saw was the union with Prince Thomas and that they eventually had a baby. But it turns out that the evil stepsister in this tale might’ve been Cinderella all along!

Here’s a rundown of this week’s episode…

Villain of the Week: Lady Tremaine

As Emma continues to struggle with the vision of her future death, she’s also managing the influx of characters from the Land of Untold Stories. A well-known character, Cinderella, comes into the diner inquiring about a particular person on the list — her stepsister, Clorinda.

Flashbacks to Cinderella’s story show us mostly what we know from the tale: Ella was abused by her evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine, and evil stepsisters. But (as we’ve seen previously), her “fairy godmother,” aka Rumplestiltskin, helped get her to the ball, where she met future husband Prince Thomas.

Now, in Storybrooke, Thomas is worried that Ella is hunting down one of those stepsisters, Clorinda, a denizen of the Land of Untold Stories. But as flashbacks show, Clorinda actually was on Ella’s side. She falls in love with the prince’s footman — only her mother will never accept it. So, Ella gives her a magical key that will open a portal to the Land of Untold Stories. There, they can live happily ever after (in a suspended timeline).

Lady Tremaine threatens to smash Ella’s remaining glass slipper, unless she reveals Clorinda’s whereabouts. Ella capitulates, and of course, Lady Tremaine still smashes the slipper. Then, she tracks down Clorinda, seemingly kills the footman, and drags her daughter through the portal.

So, in current-day Storybrooke, Ella finds Clorinda, who is NOT too happy with her. Both she and the stepmother want vengeance. Lady Tremaine stabs her — but Emma is there!

Unfortunately, her magic has been wonky ever since the visions started. Henry gives her a pep talk, and Emma is able to use her magic to save Ella. Almost everyone gets their happy ending. Except for Lady Tremaine — she’s put to work by the dwarves as roadside cleanup.

Hero of the Week: Snow White

As Regina, Snow White, and Prince Charming try to track down the Evil Queen, Snow experiences a major nostalgia pang for a time when they weren’t always in danger. You know, like during the curse. Of course, she doesn’t want another curse to wipe out her memories, but she misses teaching and a normal life.

In the Cinderella flashbacks, Snow again proves she’s a badass by helping Prince Thomas track down his princess. She’s got good instincts, that Snow!

After Regina figures out she can get info from her sorta-evil sister Zelena, Snow decides to use her instincts for a more current cause. Dr. Jekyll needs a lab to work in to find a way to defeat the Evil Queen. So, she pairs him up with … Dr. Frankenstein! OK, sure. And not only that, hey, wouldn’t they make the best science teachers in Storybrooke’s high school? OK, sure, yeah!

Unbeknownst to her, Charming is grappling with the info that Rumple gave him about the coin and his father’s not-accidental death. Snow pleads with him to let it go. “We don’t need vengeance,” she says.

Charming appears to agree. But he doesn’t burn the paper with Rumple’s info. Looks like someone isn’t done with vengeance!

‘Divorce’ Premiere React: What Works, What Still Needs Work

Imagine Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw a decade older, with two kids, living in upstate New York, and weary of her marriage, having “literally nothing left to say” to Mr. Big — that’s Sarah Jessica Parker in Divorce.

HBO welcomes back one of its first, channel-making stars in this dramedy, created and written by Catastrophe’s Sharon Horgan. Divorce shares much in common with that British series — the comedy is dark, the outlook on married life bleak, and the characters flawed and sometimes outright awful. The premiere deftly mixes humor with bitterness and pain and the panic induced by an unsettled future. Here’s the best and worst of Divorce’s pilot:

What Works

Parker brought a warmth and earnestness and honesty to her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw, and she does the same with Frances. From the first image of Frances looking at herself in the mirror, you can read the ennui in her eyes. We’re plunked down right into Frances’s life with her husband, Robert (Thomas Haden Church), their two kids, and their friends. There’s no exposition on why Frances is unhappy, but it’s clear that she is and that it stems largely from being sick of her husband.

A crazy situation (more on that later) brings about an epiphany for Frances: She wants a divorce. Robert is shocked and saddened, and begs her to go to couples counseling. But it turns out Frances has a parachute — a lover in the form of a granola-making professor named Julian (Jemaine Clement). Only that parachute isn’t quite the life-changer that Frances hoped it would be, because Julian is a selfish jerk. Then again, everyone on the show is, in their own way. And that you want to know more about them is a testament to Horgan’s writing.

The performances by all of the actors are top-notch; Church, in particular, deserves a shout-out for his sly, hilarious take on the passive-aggressive, pompous Robert. Molly Shannon shines as Frances’s friend, Diane. And hopefully, this isn’t the last we see of man-child Julian, because Clement is just too good.

What Needs Work

Tonally, sometimes Divorce can be a bit of a mishmash. Characters like Julian and Diane are more broadly comedic, while Parker plays Frances more cool and straight.

Also, as great as Church is in the premiere, it’s more obviously Frances’s story, and Robert is not as deeply sketched. He has an amusing monologue about how he’s the hero and Frances is the villain in their movie, and it makes you realize that we don’t know much about him yet. While she gets solo scenes, he does not, which — fingers crossed — future episodes rectify.

And that crazy situation mentioned above happens at Diane’s 50th birthday party, when the birthday girl brandishes a gun. It was a little outrageous and silly. Sure, something had to set off Frances’s desire to get a divorce, but we hope that such wackiness is confined to this event.

Our Burning Questions: What will Frances and Robert’s kids think about their divorce? Will Diane’s husband want to divorce her after he wakes up from his heart attack? Where do these people live, because wow — beautiful homes? Is Julian actually maybe a little crazy, because what New Yorker gets Hawaiian pizza?

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Tweet-Cap: Miracles Can Happen

Warning: This recap for the “I Ain’t No Miracle Worker” episode of Grey’s Anatomy contains spoilers.

Halloween is still a few weeks away, but the undead are walking the halls of Grey’s Anatomy.

We kid, we kid. No, in one of the stranger, but very uplifting, cases on the show, a widow named Georgia dies … and then comes back to life. It’s not just a second chance for her, but also an opportunity for her entire family to heal after a rift estranged one of her daughters.

Despite Alex’s ongoing legal/professional battle, this is a more lighthearted episode of Grey’s Anatomy, complete with Bailey deputizing Ben as a bad cop, April thirsting for surgeries, and Stephanie drooling over the miracle case. But there are still clouds on the horizon, as Alex continues to struggle with what he did and Meredith still keeping the secret about Riggs from her sister.

Family feud

Meredith drives Alex and Maggie to work and asks how he’s doing. Maggie misinterprets and starts spouting off about how Riggs rejected her and how weird it’s going to be the hospital. Alex, meanwhile, is resigned to his fate working in the clinic.

At the hospital, Arizona has returned from New York (visiting Callie and their daughter) and spots DeLuca for the first time. She’s shocked to the core.

Arizona and Owen work on a pregnant lady named Kara, who it turns out caused the accident. Not only that, she’s one of Georgia’s kids! But she’s been estranged from her family and nobody knows she’s expecting.

Arizona sees Alex pass by and confronts him in the storage room about beating up DeLuca. She yells at him for ruining the career that she helped him build. Alex huffily replies that he can’t take back what he did, he’s mad at himself too, and nothing she can say will help.

When Amelia informs Georgia and her children about Kara’s condition, the siblings go off on Kara — she used drugs, how could she come back like this, she’s terrible for causing the accident. Georgia just wants to see her dead husband’s body, and as she holds his hands and expresses relief at Kara’s return, she starts seizing.

Arizona tells Kara that she’s stable enough to get surgery on her broken pelvis and asks if they should bring Georgia to see her. Kara gets upset — no, there’s no way her mom has forgiven her. Arizona tries to cheer her up, saying mothers will always forgive their children.

When she gets in the elevator, DeLuca asks her if he should move out, because Alex is her protégé and everyone else is so pissed at him. Arizona just shakes her head and gives him a hug.

Meanwhile, Ben confronts Bailey after picking up Tuck. Turns out the little guy got into a fistfight at school, but Bailey is avoiding punishing him. She throws up her hands — she has to be the bad guy at work, now she has to be the bad guy at home? Ben offers to step in, because he’s Tuck’s parent too. Awww!

Maggie and Amelia watch as Georgia’s children say goodbye, but when daughter Morgan is in with her, she screams out. Georgia squeezed her hand! That’s impossible! Nope, it IS possible. Georgia sits up — she’s alive! Bailey can’t believe it and asks how this happened. Amelia and Maggie shrug and say it’s a miracle.

Ben gets to playing bad cop, with an assist from Jackson. They show Tuck gruesome pictures of a beaten-up DeLuca, and Ben exaggerates that DeLuca lost his eyesight and that the guy who did it went to jail. Tuck is getting some serious straight talk!

Mer and Riggs are scrubbimn up for separate surgeries when he tells her about Miracle Lady Georgia. Then he wonders if she’s ever had the “miracle dream” — he’s had it about his ex. Mer denies it at first, then admits she has. “He knocks at the door. Says he forgot his keys, and he’s sorry for being gone so long.” SOB!

Amelia and Maggie examine Georgia and she seems to have emerged from her deadly episode unharmed. They tell her kids, who start bashing Kara gain. But Amelia isn’t having it and gives them hell for not forgiving their sister. Georgia gives her a thumbs up; they deserved it.

Kieran and Morgan visit Kara again. She came out of the C-section just fine, and so did her baby. They tell her that everybody’s OK … including their undead mother!

Ben and Tuck meet Bailey to go home. Tuck hands over his phone and promises to apologize to the kid he beat up. And he apologizes to his mother. Bailey is amazed — she should’ve deputized Ben a long time ago!

Jackson catches April staring longingly at the OR schedule. He knows what’s up: She’s bored. April confesses she is. She loves Harriet, their little miracle baby. But she is bored of just staring at her sleeping daughter all the live-long day. Jackson tells her to go back to the ER; he’s got Harriet.

‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: A Founding Father Blast From the Past

A Founding Father or two may pop up on Saturday Night Live this weekend: The host is Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and star of the smash Broadway musical Hamilton.

Hamilton has become a huge pop-culture phenomenon, with exorbitant ticket prices, crazed fans waiting in line, and 11 Tony wins. The musical’s success has propelled Miranda into the spotlight, and he’s headlining projects like Disney’s Moana (for which he wrote the songs) and co-starring in the sequel to Mary Poppins.

When Miranda hits Studio 8H this weekend, it seems likely the writers will work in some kind of Hamilton-themed sketch. SNL has introduced various Founding Fathers before, such as this 2011 sketch featuring George Washington (played by host Russell Brand).

Washington is brought into the present day in a time machine to settle debates between Nancy Pelosi (Kristen Wiig) and John Boehner (Bill Hader). But he is understandably disturbed by his modern surroundings. A pistol is brandished, a knife is wielded … and as Jason Sudeikis observes, “That did not go as planned.”

Role Recall: ‘Criminal Minds’ Newbie Adam Rodriguez Reminisces About ‘CSI: Miami,’ ‘Empire,’ More

Just three little words.

That’s how Adam Rodriguez’s acting career began, as he tells Yahoo Superfan in this edition of “Role Recall.” The star, who recently joined the cast of Criminal Minds, now in its 12th season, started out in a very humble way — with a one-line appearance on NYPD Blue in 1997.

“Before this, I was doing extra work,” Rodriguez remembers. Getting the small part of a police officer “was a huge deal. And it was three words.”

The actor goes on to discuss his other roles, like his 10-year stint on CSI: Miami. During that time, he wrote and directed two episodes. “I was very proud of the way it turned out. I got to tell a story that I felt had some heart.”

Since leaving that show, Rodriguez has appeared in movies including Magic Mike and guest-starred on series including Ugly Betty, Jane the Virgin, and Empire, which was a challenge. Acting opposite Golden Globe winner Taraji P. Henson was no joke.

“You don’t want to be, no pun intended, eaten alive by Cookie!” he says.

‘Salem’ Sneak Peek: There’s Not a Soul Alive Who Can Stop the Devil

Salem is having a devil of a time in Season 3.

The WGN America drama returns on Nov. 2, and as co-creator Adam Simon teases in this exclusive sneak peek, “Nothing is quite as it was anymore.

“The center of Salem is a charred ruin. Many things have changed, the most important of which is the devil is here,” Simon said.

Ah yes, the devil, incarnated in the body of a little boy. And he is hellbent on wreaking havoc on earth. “There’s not a soul alive who can stop me,” he says wickedly.

There might be a soul not currently alive who can, though — his mother, Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery). But can she be brought back from the dead? And will she have the power to stop her son?

Meanwhile, the stakes grow even higher for the other denizens of Salem, like Capt. John Alden. As Shane West explains, “Alden comes into Season 3 completely different. He’s putting together this militia and protecting the town from the French, from the Indians, as well as witches.”

This season introduces a barber/surgeon named Thomas Dinley, played by goth rocker Marilyn Manson. The character is “somewhere between a really bad hairstylist and someone who guts people… . I take great pleasure in torment,” Manson says with glee.

‘Once Upon a Time’ Hero and Villain of the Week: Lesser of 2 Evils

Warning: This recap for “A Bitter Draught” episode of Once Upon a Time contains spoilers.

The lesser of two evils can be downright good, as Once Upon a Time shows us this week.

The Evil Queen finally makes an appearance in Storybrooke and reveals herself to Regina, Emma, Snow White, and Prince Charming. And just like the EQ we knew and loved to hate in Season 1, she’s hell-bent on revenge against Snow and Charming.

Of course, the Regina of Season 6 has come a long way from that quest for vengeance. She’s a hero now, but when she’s forced to defend Snow and Charming against a hit man (hello, Count of Monte Cristo), she has to confront the idea that darkness may still lurk inside her — even with the EQ cast out. In the end, is anyone purely good? Or even purely evil? Maybe not. Regina may have kicked out the EQ, but they still share so much history.

Here’s a rundown of this week’s episode …

Hero of the week: Hook As Regina and Snow process the new residents from the Land of Untold Stories, Belle shows up at the diner to inquire about new lodgings. Everyone is shocked to see her since, last they knew, she was under a sleeping curse and locked up in a box. Well, she’s out and she needs a new place to crash.

Hook offers to be her broker and takes her to… the Jolly Roger?! But if Rumplestiltskin found out, there’d be hell to pay, Belle points out. He’s fine with that, because he owes her. He has, on quite a few occasions, threatened her life. And he hasn’t forgiven himself, so this is the least he can do. She reminds him that they’ve all made mistakes and all they can do is try to behave better.

Meanwhile, Hook is still totally in love with Emma and she totally is not telling him the truth about her death visions. She goes to therapy with Archie, but when he probes her about why she hasn’t told her family, she storms out.

Later, she goes back to Archie to apologize. She’s realized why she’s so scared of the visions — there’s one person who isn’t with the rest of her family. And it’s Regina. But is it Regina, or is it the Evil Queen? Only time can tell.

Villain of the week: The Evil Queen One of the new denizens from the Land of Untold Stories turns out to be the Count of Monte Cristo. We see a flashback to the beginning of his story (read the book if you want to get the whole scoop, it’s a classic for a reason), but then we learn that the Evil Queen scooped him up to be her assassin.

See, she dangled a list of all the conspirators against him to help her take out Snow and Charming. The Count manages to become their wine steward, but unfortunately, he develops a crush on Snow’s handmaiden, Charlotte. And the night when he can poison Snow is Charlotte’s going away party. He pours out the poisoned wine for all of them, but takes it away when they are about to drink.

Rumple, who has his own nefarious goals, poisons Charlotte, then sends her and the Count to the Land of Untold Stories, so that he won’t kill Snow and Charming (he needs them alive for the initial curse to occur). But when the Untold Stories blimp crashes into Storybrooke, Charlotte succumbs to the curse and the Count goes on a murderous rampage.

He tries to kill Snow and Charming, but Regina finds him and battles him in a sword fight. To save them, she has to kill him. The Evil Queen reveals her presence to everyone, and Regina realizes that this is what her worse half wanted — to bring out her dark side. “We all have stories we don’t want told,” EQ warns ominously.

Regina beats herself up a bit about killing the Count, while Emma and Snow comfort her. But what did EQ mean by what she said? Then a troublesome thing happens — the EQ sends Charming a coin. This is a coin that David tied to his father’s wrist before his father left the farm and died in a cart accident. But the EQ purrs, “Are you sure it was an accident?”

And after EQ plants this idea in Charming’s head, she heads to Zelena’s cabin. She’s happy that Zelena didn’t spill any beans to Regina. They can be true sisters, EQ notes, because “Regina is quite literally the lesser of two evils.”

And that’s scary as hell.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Tweet-cap: Sinking Ship

Warning: This recap for the “Catastrophe and the Cure” episode of Grey’s Anatomy contains spoilers.

And it all came tumbling down for Alex Karev.

Alex’s beatdown of DeLuca was bound to have consequences, and wow, are those consequences dire. He’s charged with felony assault, and then demoted at the hospital. Frankly, he’s fortunate that Bailey didn’t fire him. Not that long ago, Alex had a great job and proposed to the girlfriend he loved, and it just goes to show how life can turn sour for you in an instant. And only for himself — as he’s circling the drain, Alex might just suck Meredith in, too.

Here’s a rundown of this week’s episode, including our live tweets:

Suit up

As Alex dresses in suit and tie for a court appearance, he experiences flashbacks to his beatdown of DeLuca. The guilt is crushing him. Meredith enters his bedroom (he’s staying at her house now), as her voice-over talks about the absolute loyalty surgeons give to each other.

At the hospital, a perturbed Bailey complains she needs more spies in the ranks to tell her WTF is going on. Richard offers to be her James Bond. Elsewhere, Maggie runs into Meredith and tells her sister about a sex dream she had about Riggs — where they hook up in a car in the parking lot. Ummmm…

Maggie resolves to ask Riggs out on a date, except would that be sexual harassment? Oh well, whatever, she’s going to do it anyway.

One of Alex’s former patients, Zack, comes into the ER with abdominal pain. Zack had previously undergone a kidney transplant, and when Ben gets the labs, they indicate the boy may have appendicitis.

Time for Alex’s court hearing. The prosecutor wants to charge him with a felony, which Alex’s lawyer vigorously argues against. Ultimately, though, the judge sides with the prosecution, and that means Alex is facing real prison time. Meredith tries to give him a pep talk and adamantly declares he will not go to prison. But things are not looking good, not at all.

Oh, and going back to the hospital isn’t any better, as Alex has to face an even harsher judge: Bailey. She yells at him for beating up DeLuca, then mentions the intern is recovered enough to return to work. Will that be a problem? Not for Alex.

So, good news and bad news for April. Harriet is well enough to go home! The bad news is that April’s C-section wound re-opened, so mama isn’t ready to go home. April melts down, realizing that her baby girl is leaving the hospital without her. She starts ranting at Jackson about nature and crying and dehydration.

Buffer zone

In surgery, Maggie asks Meredith’s advice on asking out Riggs (oh jeez), when Owen comes in to invite Mer to a dinner party that Amelia concocted as a peace treaty between Owen and Riggs. Mer doesn’t want to be his “buffer person,” so Maggie eagerly offers.

Meanwhile, Jo is on Amelia’s service today (thanks to Stephanie’s request), and they are working on the case of Patricia, who has a tumor that she named Wilma… after her husband’s mistress. Amelia is energized, ready to “kick the crap out of Wilma.” That is a trigger for Jo, who comes a bit upset at that language. Amelia apologizes, and to make it up, invites her to the dinner party.

In the cafeteria, Bailey gets an update from James Bond aka Richard Webber, whose only gossip is that people are fighting over ownership of Callie’s ortho lab. Oh, Richard, maybe keep your day job?

Alex isn’t the only one messing up right now. Meredith runs into DeLuca in the elevator and accidentally threatens to block him from surgeries if he continues to press this case against Alex. Whoops! Alex rightfully yells at her, and to make it up, she invites him to the dinner party. Oh no, this cannot end well.

Dinner party begins. Maggie is dressed to the nines. Owen and Riggs are super uncomfortable around each other. Meredith makes up a patient by the name of “Peterkin” so she can whisper to Riggs that he has to turn down Maggie when she asks him out.

It gets even worse when Alex shows up and Jo is there. He tries to apologize again, but she isn’t having it. “It doesn’t fix anything!” she replies. “Sorry doesn’t fix anything.”

He wishes they weren’t at the party, that it was just “you and me” — but there is no “you and me,” Jo declares, before storming off. And then Alex gets a page from the hospital. Earlier, he brushed off Ben’s report of Zack’s condition, and now Zack is in crisis.

Gotta have faith

When Alex returns to the hospital, Zack is in surgery, but Bailey kicks him out of the OR and off of the case. Zack’s mom, one of his biggest fans, also expresses her disappointment in him when Alex confesses that he messed up.

When Mer finds Bailey after Zack’s surgery, Bailey knows that Meredith sorta threatened DeLuca and warns her not to let Alex’s problems drag her down, too. “You are not Karev’s guardian angel,” she says. “There’s no need to go down with him.”

Meanwhile, a despondent April video chats with Jackson and sings Harriet a beautiful rendition of George Michael’s “Faith.”

Later, Jackson brings Harriet back to visit mommy, and Richard gives him some advice: Find a way to help April. Don’t back off, and don’t let her push him away.

Back to Zack’s case: His kidney is failing and needs to be removed. Meredith is assigned to the surgery and decides to ask DeLuca to join her. Alex, guilty and horrified at making a big mistake, gives Zack a pep talk before going into surgery. It reminds us what a great doctor he can be. He’s just not that doctor right now.

Jackson is back to take Harriet home, and April is clearly upset again. He suggests that when she’s cleared to go home, she and Harriet come live with him. April refuses — she needs to set boundaries with him and she can take care of her baby. Jackson soothes her, saying he knows she wants to be independent. But she needs help, so she should think about it.

At the end of the evening, Maggie runs into Riggs in the parking lot. Next to a car. Ohhhhh, no. She asks him out to dinner, and he politely declines, saying he’s not ready to date anyone right now. Uh huh. Maggie walks away, humiliated.

She returns home to curl up next to Meredith and Alex. Mer just confessed sleeping with Riggs to Alex, so there’s a huge love triangle elephant in the room. Have a little faith in your sister, Mer!

‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: Miley Cyrus Gives Tips on Disney Channel Acting

Saturday Night Live returns this weekend for its 42nd season (so amazing), with first-time host Margot Robbie from this summer’s Suicide Squad. So for this week’s flashback, we dialed back to last year’s premiere, which featured first-time host Miley Cyrus.

The singer/actress had quite a few memorable moments, like impersonating Justin Bieber, parodying her “We Can’t Stop” music video for the 2013 government shutdown, and making a sex tape with Kyle Mooney.

One of the funniest sketches of the evening was “Disney Channel Acting School,” with Cyrus as herself and Kenan Thompson as Raven-Symoné. Students who attend the school get tips on how to “improve your craft” — like learning moves like “Eating Then Freezing” and “Reacting to Stinky Feet.”

And as Cyrus reminds us, “On Disney Channel every person needs to be the loudest person in the room.” Great advice, Hannah Montana!

‘Younger’ Star Hilary Duff Guesses Celebrity Book Titles and Previews Season 3

On TV Land’s Younger, Hilary Duff plays a brilliant, ambitious publishing executive who knows her way around books. But does the actress herself have book smarts — that is, celebrity book smarts?

When Duff stopped by Yahoo TV, we asked her to play our Celebrity Book Title Quiz. “Playing games always makes me slightly nervous,” she said, “but I know the answer to the first one, so hopefully that’s going to set the tone for the rest of the game.”

The first question: What is the title of 30 Rock empress Tina Fey’s tome? Is it Oprah Is My Spirit Animal, Men Do Make Passes at Women Who Wear Glasses, or Bossypants?

Duff really did know the answer, but how did she fare when it came to knowing the titles of books by Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Amy Schumer, Shonda Rhimes, and Khloé Kardashian? Watch the video above.
