Before you start eating healthy, you know?” At her comment, Jess laughed softly.  She always used to tell herself she’d start eating healthy the next day but is usually never played out that way. “Mmm, I would say so. I mean, parking tickets? You’ll never get another. Traffic violations? Thing of the past. But only if you’re cool with having a cop as a friend. Most people don’t like us.”

Eyebrows raised, Kirenza took a long look at the woman before her. “Really? I call bullshit on that. Cops aren’t nice!” But there was no malice in her words; the blonde woman was laughing with her eyes, her lips pulled back in a grin. An almost laugh. “Also, junk food is honestly amazing. Like Hot Rods, those things I could eat for literally days. And a beer. Beers are a God’s gift, really.”

They teased back and forth. Always teasing. Not that there wasn’t a pay off by the end of it but it often times became a game to see how long he could go before losing it. Before he had to do more than just teasing. She spread her lips, taking some of the ice cream from the spoon. It was playful. It all happened so fast. Kirenza placed had cut the palm of her hand with the knife and there was now blood staining her skin. It dripped down her fingers and into the floor as she cursed. Malachi dropped the spoon and went to grab for a towel to wrap her hand. He felt heady already, her eyelashes heavy and wet.  His palm was still warm from where her fingers had been. The scent was still on her.  All over her.  As soon as the smell became too strong he’d known what he wanted to do to her.  Wanted to tie her tight and have her, hair spilling across the throw pillows.  Wanted to bruise her and hurt her, really just wanted to hurt her, all of this aggression and anger making his knuckles white. ❝Do you want me to kiss it better?❞

Pressing the towel against the wound, she let the stinging subside. It was an easy feeling to get used to, after a while, barely feeling it at all. For Kirenza, this was normal, an everyday chore. But if she even had an inkling of what Malachi was thinking of, she might have wavered. His offer made her smirk. “As much as I’d---” She stopped; it was a tempting offer after all. To adventure. “Sure, I guess. Make the pain go away, sweet prince of mine.” So what if this wasn’t normal; to heck with normal right?
