Hi there! We are small but active. The most recent thread reply was posted a day ago. We have been a bit lax on our activity requirements as school is starting for three of our four members, but we are definitely active.

Race: Faun (half centaur half fairy)

Faceclaim:  Lily Collins

Background: Shihari’s mother was said to have been a fierce fighter, but soft outside of battle. She supposed that’s how she was born. No one else would have gone off with weaker races, her tribe assured her, and it was the softness that killed her. A normal foal would have been fine, they said, but not her with her strange half body. They tried to train her to fight when she was old enough, but she was weak and small, and she was much happier running around the forest. That was why they moved on without her, she told herself, they knew she was happy there and so they left. They must not have realized that she didn’t know how to care for herself yet; she wasn’t even twenty. Thankfully she had wandered close to an elven family who, upon realizing she couldn’t care for herself, took her in. They were very kind to her, and did not yell to show their love as her tribe had. Shihari would have been content to stay in their territory playing with and learning from them, but she had heard talk of a party happening in a City. Having never heard of these things happening before she ventured out away to peak at life outside her adoptive family’s land.

We’re so excited to announce our first theme day! Our goal is to encourage interaction between characters who might not interact otherwise, and to help new characters dip their toes in the water. Talk To Me Tuesdays will be starting this week. What that means for our players is that they will be allowed to reblog up to three (3) rp ask memes on Tuesdays. We are asking, however, that if you reblog a meme, you send asks to the other characters who have reblogged memes. This is all about fun remember! Participating in this theme day is not required.

Maidie Jæsper || 24 || Dwarf || OPEN

Maidie had lived as a Stratumless for her whole life, born into a family cast out of the Deep and disgraced. She was the reason her family were where they were, since it was her whom her mother conceived out of wedlock with her father, a peasant far below her standing. Thus, the family was left to barely scrape by with no chance at redemption. Her father went to work in the mines that were too dangerous to let important Dwarves into, usually making enough to give his family a meal every day. Her mother and her begged on a doorstep, sticking together to avoid being assaulted or abducted by gangs. She heard rumors about what they did to women and men who looked nice enough, and she wanted no part in it at all. Begging was difficult, but being soft and sweet and a child helped. However, during her fourteenth year, her father died of a rotten lung from breathing in the earth’s poison too much. Her mother, terrified she’d be forced to watch her daughter starve, was forced to go to the gangs for the food they guaranteed.

Maidie would have followed, but then word came of a hole in the stone that lead to an upper world that had no Stratum: with no Stratum, she could not be Stratumless. She stole a pair of thick boots and a week’s worth of food on her way out of town, following the strange smell of fresh air to Kyilon. It had left her with a horribly upset stomach, stealing all that, but she needed it, and she would pay back the merchant someday. Somehow. Living in the city was rough, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as the Deep. She made her way to the outer rings and prepared herself to beg for a living, but just as soon as she’d planted herself outside a bakery, the cook came out and scolded her for loitering. He was a fat fairy who came up to her shoulders, and he’d told her that she would work for him or she would find another doorway to beg on. Thrilled, she’d accepted. She works all day serving customers and sleeps at nights in the barn outside their bakery, and nobody seems to care about the tattoos on her hands and face.

Laire Elspeth || 272 || Dwarf || OPEN

Laire was not a happy child. She was always pouting or puffing at something, throwing a fit because a child had broken a rule, or practicing making speeches to her toys. She was unhappy with everything in the world, no matter what, and very rarely smiled. She’d never been good at making friends, usually pointing out the flaws in someone’s appearance or presentation before even a hello was exchanged. Luckily, making friends didn’t seem to really matter in her job as a politician. She had an arranged marriage to a sweet man who let her make all the decisions and stayed home with their seven children, while she developed herself as a distinguished advisor to King Malcom.

When Malcom died, she’d been there to hear him name his son, Shaw, as a successor. That had been a pleasant surprise, since her traditional ideals seemed to match his nicely. However, that damned upstart Grahame had gone and lied about which son had been named and started a civil war, then disappeared to the surface as a poorly disguised retreat. Laire was determined to follow him and give him a piece of her mind, plus what would it say about her side of the civil war if she just let the opposing side go off on some big quest with the chance for a big political payoff? She needed to control the situation and take care of business herself. So she lied to the other advisors, claiming that she was going away to have another baby away from the danger of the civil war and told them not to contact her. She kissed her husband goodbye and started for the surface, quickly arriving in Kyilon and going straight to the political district, demanding to be part of whatever that damn Grahame did.

Calder Aibne || 289 || Dwarf || OPEN

Calder was a child who was always between things. Between friends, between homes, between jobs, between projects. He tried to focus on listening and doing things the way he’d been taught, like going and working in the mines for a daily paycheck if he didn’t have anything else, but when he woke up in the morning, he could never force himself to go. He was a fair artist, dreaming up beautiful palaces with exceptional architecture and gems built into the walls, but the most he ever did was sketch out some blueprints and build half a diagram out of pasta. He had ideas, but he could never really get them out of his head.

The only reason he’d made the trip above ground was because his mother had thrown a packed suitcase at his head and screamed at him that he was a good-for-nothing freeloader and banned him from staying with her. Once he got to the city, he’d wandered around and lived off the food his mother packed him, promising himself that he was going to ration it but then eating four full rations in one sitting. He didn’t know what to do, where to go, or how to live in this city, and if he didn’t he’d likely starve.
