Odara nodded a bit in response to Ben’s answer about his hair. It suits you well, she thought, with a little smile creeping across her lips. One that just turned into a soft snort and her shaking her head.
“Well.. what else do I have to do when I’m not in battle or planning for one? My hair has grown twice if not more than the last time we saw each other…Besides, do you think these people would listen to me if I didn’t keep as strict care of my own body as I do of my base?”
It was her attempt at trying to be funny in return, though she was distracted from it by the steady rise of heat to her face and the beat of her heart. It was all Odara could do, not to let herself just learn into it. To let him run his hands through her hair for as long as he wanted to.
And then she also froze up for a second.
No one did that. Not unless she herself was the price to pay for whatever she wanted at the time; or unless she were using herself to try and persuade someone else to do what she wanted. Her powers hadn’t always been so under control, after all. Sometimes, they still weren’t. And it left her having to improvise.
It was so strange; so otherworldly, for someone to just kiss her because they wanted to. No strings attached, no hidden motive, and no fear of her. No fear. That was the reason that they had gotten along so well at first, when they were kids. Ben wasn’t afraid of her.
It was not until it had happened, that Odara realized how much she needed it. It was the connection that she was missing; with just the one right person in the whole galaxy. This was probably why after her initial hesitation, Odara had loosely wrapped her arms around his neck. Like on an instinct: one that she didn’t know was there. Despite all her daydreaming about a moment like this with him. The ones she’d had as she got older.
Other than the fact that she didn’t really want Ben to see her face growing warmer, Odara was hoping that he wouldn’t mind if she pulled him back in a bit closer to her.
“Don’t be sorry… I’m not.” Odara answered him quietly, a gaze up at his eyes being taken, before she closed her own and pressed her lips back against his. It was so anxiety-inducing for her. The idea of how vulnerable she was letting herself be on an impulse; of how for some reason, she may end up being rejected… was very loud in her head. At the same time, this was an invitation to Ben from her. An invitation to maybe have a few more kisses with her, before they had to leave. Or more, but only if Ben wanted to. Odara would never make him do anything that he didn’t want to..
Before they had to leave.
Before reality would set in….and they would likely be separated again.
And before their one bit of true alone time was over.
